Light\'s Mistakes

The light side were in trouble. The dark side were growing stronger by the day and more people were dying. They needed help and the wizengamot agreed to do anything to help end the war, when Fenrir Greyback offered them an alliance, with certain terms attached. They refused at first, but with the information and the power he held, they gave in after a wizarding village was slaughtered by Voldemort.

The contract stated that werewolves would be given equal rights to wizards. His pack would also be given a large area of land that no one could enter without the alpha’s permission, or they would be punished by the pack and on their land they would not be held accountable to the wizarding world’s laws and anyone on their land are held accountable to the packs rules. They would also be given a large sum of money and Fenrir would take one person to join his pack. The only stipulations of this person would be they had to be a member of the order of the phoenix at some point in time or an immediate family member of the person, being spouse, brother, sister, parents or children and not too old or too young. Fenrir though gave them a bit of an escape. They could write down sixteen people who Fenrir could not choose and in return Fenrir would give the light side the help of his pack in battles and information about the dark side and the members. They agreed and it was signed by Albus Dumbledore, the leader of the order of the phoenix and Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Order of Merlin, First Class; Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards, Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot, and Grand Sorcerer, Minster Rufus Scrimgeour after Fudge was killed and Amelia Bones Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and Alpha Fenrir Greyback.

The Order talked and discussed it and finally decided to save the children and young women and mothers and wrote:

-Jonathan Potter, because he’s the boy who lived and the Potter’s son.
-Rose Potter, the Potter’s eldest child and their daughter.
-Ginny Weasley, Molly and Arthur Weasley’s daughter.
-Ron Weasley, Molly and Arthur Weasley’s son
-Fred Weasley, Molly and Arthur Weasley’s son
-George Weasley, Molly and Arthur Weasley’s son
-Percy Weasley, Molly and Arthur Weasley’s son (back with his family)
-Charlie Weasley, Molly and Arthur Weasley’s son
-Bill Weasley, Molly and Arthur Weasley’s son and recently married Fleur
-Susan Bones, related to a dead order member
-Hermione Granger, joined the order and same age as Ron and Jonathan
-Neville Longbottom, son of two order members
-Fleur Delacour, Bill Weasley’s wife
-Lily Potter, member of the order and a mother
-Molly Weasley, member of the order and a mother
-Nymphadora Tonks, member of the order and a young woman

Through all this discussion of who to save from Fenrir’s choice they forgot one. One of the children, they just didn’t think of the child and their name wasn’t written down to stop Fenrir choosing them.

The end of the war arrived. It turned out that although Jonathan was the chosen one. The power he knew not was the love and power of all his friends and family, which gave him their magical power and their love to strengthen him, so he could kill Voldemort. There was a huge celebration and a week after the final battle Dumbledore along with the order including Neville, the Potter’s, Hermione and the Weasley’s and Amelia Bones and Minister Rufus Scrimgeour met along with Fenrir Greyback and his beta Sharpfang.

‘‘Why are you here Greyback?’’ James Potter asked

‘‘I’ve come for my new pack member’’

‘‘Oh yes the contract and who have you chosen?’’ Dumbledore asked

‘‘Potter’s son’’ he replied and everyone turned to look at Jonathan.

‘‘You can’t his names on the contract you can’t choose him’’ Lily yelled as she clutched Jonathan to her

‘‘Not him’’

‘‘Then who?’’ Molly said as everyone looked confused including the Potters.

‘‘Make that wall see through and I’ll show you’’ he replied and Dumbledore waved his wand and everyone looked through the wall and saw a flash of black hair of a boy that was on his hands and knees scrubbing the floor and as he whipped the sweat from his head, they saw emerald green eyes and heard Lily gasp.

‘‘No. Not him.’’ She muttered and everyone suddenly remembered who the boy was. He was Jonathan’s younger twin and with utter horror they remembered they forgot to add him to the list. Fenrir could choose him and they couldn’t do anything.

‘‘Have one of your house elves get him’’ Fenrir said

‘‘Tippy’’ Lily said ‘‘go get Harry please’’ hardly holding in her tears and everyone watched as the house elf appeared next to Harry and told him that Mistress Lily wanted to see him and watched as Harry got up and left the room. They deactivated the spell and heard a knock on the door and when James said for him to enter. Harry entered the room and walked up to Lily with his head down cast and said.

‘‘Tippy said you called for me’’

‘‘Yes my boy’’ Dumbledore said with no twinkle in his eye ‘‘you know about the contract’’ and with a nod Dumbledore continued ‘‘well in the contract it stated that Greyback could choose anyone in the order or related to a member except sixteen people we could decide he couldn’t choose from’’

‘‘and you didn’t choose me?’’ Harry asked

‘‘no my boy we didn’t think you’d be chosen but now Greyback has chosen you and I’m afraid there is nothing we can do.’’ Dumbledore said

‘‘I understand Headmaster’’ Harry replied ‘‘I’m not important enough’’ and before anyone could refute what he said Greyback ordered Harry to take Sharpfang to his room and pack what he had to have.

Sharpfang followed Harry through the Potter Manor. They passed grand rooms and from the smell could tell that the grander rooms were the Potter families bedrooms and was confused when he couldn’t smells Harry’s room till they reached the back of the house and stepped into Harry’s room and was shocked and turned to see Lily behind him as she had left right after him and Lily couldn’t believe what she’d done. Not only had she forgotten to get Harry’s name on the list but also his room. Her other children had grand bedrooms, with king sized four poster beds, with the most expensive sheets and the softest carpeting and all the things they could want. While Harry’s room was a quarter of a size of theirs and had a small cot with a pillow and blanket. He didn’t have any posters on his walls, but she could see where he’d drawn pictures on the walls when he was younger. There wasn’t a single picture of the family and she watched as Harry opened his draws and closet and saw the second hand clothes that he’d got from Jonathan when he’d grown out of them, now she thought of it she couldn’t remember ever buying him clothes for himself except when they took him to get his school robes because he walked up to her and handed him his Hogwarts letter before they left and she could remember leaving him in the shops and in the end giving him a bag of money to buy things and she watched as he pulled the bag of galleons she gave him that day out of a draw and remembered that she had never bought him anything else and he’d used Rose’s second hand books and Jonathan’s old robes when he grew out of his first year ones instead of buying him new ones like she did for Rose and Jonathan. She turned to look behind her and saw her husband and two other children coming towards her with Greyback behind them and Dumbledore, Remus and Sirius.

‘‘Hurry up’’ Greyback said ‘‘we don’t have all day’’

Everyone went into his room but it was too depressing for the Potters and taking a while to find things so with a wave of his wand Dumbledore temporarily enlargened the room and put all of Harry’s things in a pile in the middle of the room and started to go through everything and apart from the hand me down clothes there wasn’t much. Greyback discarded all the clothes saying he’d get him new ones. They ended up discarding everything except Harry’s schools things kept in his trunk and the sack of galleons from his first ever and last shopping trip with his family for his Hogwarts things and money he’d found and been given over the years. They were about to leave when Harry spoke up

‘‘Can I please take these with me?’’ and Fenrir turned to look at what he was holding. There was his baby blanket, a stuffed wolf toy, that was from when he was a baby and sketching pad with pencils and paints. He was going to say no but with the way he clung to them he relented and allowed Harry to take them.

‘‘Alright, put them in your trunk’’ Fenrir said and Harry quickly put them in his trunk and sent Fenrir a dazzling smile. After that they quickly went down stairs said there good byes, but Harry moved away from their touch except when the house elves said good bye and Harry hugged them and then Harry port keyed away with Greyback and Sharpfang and Lily fell to her knees crying.

When they reached the pack all of Harry’s things were taken from him. He was given a t-shirt and a pair of tracksuit bottoms and the clothes he came in were destroyed. The first few weeks with the pack, he was given a fur to sleep on, but was not allowed to go on hunting trips with the others and on the full moon Fenrir bit him on his right shoulder and the next morning he was given a pack name. He was called Shadow, for his black coat and how he seemed to blend into the shadows. The months that follow were awful, he wasn’t allowed to run with the pack on the full moon. He was also belittled and attacked by other pack members and with his gentle soul, he just submitted. It wasn’t until two days before the full moon that they realised their mistake.

Another pack attacked and while everyone else took cover and fought together in groups, Shadow was left on his own and with no fighting skills, he was easily over powered and the pack turned at the screams and the smell of his blood to see him being ripped to shreds, by a group from the rival pack, using their teeth and clawed fingers. By the time the pack was able to fight them back, most of Shadow’s skin was shredded and only after he had been cleaned, could the damage be seen, with how deep most of the wounds were, he would have massive scaring. The full moon came and went and it was only a week later that the whole pack saw him. His once flawless skin was covered in scars. He had large gashes on his chest and back, with claw marks on his arms and legs and his face had a claw mark running from the top right of his head and ending at the bottom of his left jaw and his once brilliant emerald eyes, now had black flaws in them.

It was months of watching Shadow struggle and hide away from sight that they finally contacted the wizards and Severus Snape came and with a few spells and potions, Shadow was back to normal, in terms of his appearance.

It was the first time Shadow was out of the cave since his scars had been removed and the pack watched as Shadow stayed within three feet of Alpha Greyback at all times and that night when everyone laid down to sleep, Shadow laid as close to the alpha and Sharpfang as his station permitted him and it wasn’t till a couple of days had passed and watching Shadow follow Alpha Greyback around even following him on patrol at night that Alpha Greyback would either have Shadow with him or with his second Sharpfang and that night when Alpha Greyback, went on patrol and Shadow attempted to follow, Alpha Greyback picked him up and placed Shadow on his (Greyback’s) furs, covered him with another fur and told him to stay and when he came back from patrol Greyback laid down on his furs pulled Shadow too him, who promptly snuggled up to him and went back to sleep and Greyback followed soon after holding Shadow protectively to him.

It therefore came as no surprise to anyone, when three months later Shadow was mated to Fenrir Greyback and within that year Shadow had his first pup.

The Potter’s only saw Harry once after Greyback took him and that was from a distance and they could see he was with three children and Greyback and even from a distance they could see the rounding of Harry’s belly, where another pup was growing, but before they could reach Harry he was gone.

Shadow never saw them and he forgot about his life in the wizarding world and lived a happy life with his mate Greyback and his pups.

The Potter’s on the other hand never forgot Harry and they regretted till the day they died that they had neglected him and would never see him again.
