Adverse Reactions

Alright, so everyone knows. I have published this before. I went to update a new chapter and it deleted the story by mistake so I decided to repost it so I could finish it. Sorry for the inconveinence.

Breathing deeply the comforting smell of the Burrow, Hermione woke up to see that the sun had barely risen from its hiding place beside the Earth. The clock sitting on her bed stand read 6:30 am. She gazed around confused surrounded by her long untamed mane of bushy brown hair. Ron hadn’t come home that night.

Sighing to herself, Hermione swung her legs off the side of the bed and scuttled herself across the room, patiently searching through all of her clothes to try and locate something that would fit over her already swollen midsection. Content with a small blue housedress that Molly had let out for her, she waltzed happily downstairs to the bathroom and began to get dressed for the day, starting with taming her exceptionally long mass of hair.

When she was finished, Hermione was a sight to behold. She was about 5’8, swollen a little and definitely skinny other than the obvious bulge which was going to be her second daughter in six months or so they hoped. Hermione had tamed her bushy hair into soft waves that were tied back with a light blue ribbon that accentuated the light blue house slippers she had become accustomed to wearing since her first pregnancy with Rose, and then again with Hugo and then again with Frederick. They had tried to tell her that Weasleys had a large brood.

Hermione trudged down the three flights of stairs toward the kitchen, hoping that Molly would have breakfast started when it happened. It was at that moment she saw the family gathered around the breakfast table solemn as death itself staring at the Daily Prophet. She had barely gotten into the kitchen when Molly let out an uncontrollable sob and sank to the floor.

It was the Headline that caught Hermione’s attention first. Her heart sank like her feet as she came upon the chair Molly had missed.

“Attack at the Department of Aurors.”

Hermione knew at that moment what had happened. Not wanting to believe it she threw open the paper and began reading it. That’s when her heart sank.

“A brutal attack brought forth by an angry group of protesters against the new equal protection amendment for all blood ancestry Witches and Wizards leave six dead and twelve wounded. The attack was violent and unexpected. The list of the dead is printed below:”

At the bottom of the list, right underneath the name Harlem Shoemaker was the last name Hermione read before she collapsed to the world.

“Ronald Weasley.”
