A Dark Path into the Light
PLEASE READ AND HEED ALL OF THE WARNINGS AND AUTHOR NOTES PRIOR TO BEGINNING THE STORY.
Summery: A child raised under the darkest of circumstances must find a way to overcome the life he has led in order to fulfill a prophecy that has ruled his life since before he was born.
Rating: NC-17ish
Disclaimer: This story is based on characters and situations created and owned by JK Rowling, various publishers including but not limited to Bloomsbury Books, Scholastic Books and Raincoast Books, and Warner Bros., Inc. No money is being made and no copyright or trademark infringement is intended. Any resemblance of any person, outside of our cannon crew, to anyone in real life, film, or another book is purely coincidental.
Warning! The following story is intended for mature readers and contain content that may not be suitable for a younger audience. Parental discretion is strongly advised for anyone less than sixteen years of age. This story will deal with a number of controversial and possibly disturbing topics including but not limited to abuse, neglect, underage sexuality, homosexuality, and pedophilia. This story is not intended to condone, encourage, or glorify any of these acts (with the exception of homosexuality because then I would be a hypocrite). If you feel that any of these topics or any related material may offend or disturb you then I ask you not to read.
Author’s Note: The following story is loosely based on a first hand accounting of a person very close to me. It reflects some of the events that took place during a very difficult time in that person’s life, both first hand experiences and things that they witnessed during that ordeal. These events have greatly affected the way I live and look at life. The majority of the darker themes in this story will be relayed using allusion or non-graphic fact telling. There will be little or no ‘first hand accounts’ of anything related to the abuse. Again I ask anyone who feels that they may be disturbed or offended by anything accounted here in not to read this story.

Prologue
Fate is a cruel mistress. She rules destiny’s slaves with an iron fist. These poor souls are pushed down a path of pain and suffering so that they may one day serve their purpose in the grand design of life. Each trial they are made to endure only creates another facet so that they may shine all the more brightly. Whether the light in which they shine is dark or bright remains in the eye of the beholder. For it is said that in every heart of darkness lies the seed of redemption, just as in every heart of light there is cast a shadow of corruption. All that remains is the will to endure or change.
Harry Potter was one such slave, born unto a prophecy. His path was laid before him long prior to his birth and he was set upon walking before he reached his second year. His first trial was the death of his parents so that he might live and that was only the beginning.

“I will not have it in my house Petunia and that is finial.” Vernon Dursleys was a man who was used to getting whatever he wanted regardless of the cost or consequences, thus when his wife protested abandoning their nephew he was more than a little angry. “The little freak will contaminate our home and our son.”
“I don’t really want him here any more than you do, but his is my sister’s child. We cannot simply leave him on the street.”
“Why? His kind apparently thought nothing of it to leave him in the could, so why should be not do the same?”
“You would sink to their level, would you Vernon?” Petunia knew that she had hit the mark when Vernon’s expression turned from anger to disgust. She may have hated her sister, but Lily was still family and thus so was Harry.
“I think I have an answer that will suit us. I know a man who runs a… home for lost, abandoned, and orphaned boys. It is privet so there will be few questions. The boy is attractive enough that…” Vernon stopped himself realizing what he was about to say.
“He’ll what, Vernon?” Petunia asked suspiciously.
“…be… adopted quickly. Yes, I am sure that he will be grabbed right up. If not they have very good tutors. They tra… teach their boys to be good young… men. He will be taught languages, music, arts, etiquette, and politics,” he then added to himself, “Among other, more profitable… skills.”
Petunia seemed to buy his story and they quickly decided to get rid of the boy a soon as humanly possible.
Two days latter found a nameless baby boy and a letter addressed to no one in the care of the owner of
Grayson’s Academy for Boys. The child, who had the brightest green eyes that the man could ever remember seeing, was sent first to a physician to be checked over, have a scar and his fingerprints removed, and to be circumcised. The letter gave no real clues to who the child was. It was short and to the point:
Remove his scar and grow out his hair. With a firm hand he should serve you well. His parents are dead. His birthday is July 31, 1980. I only recommend that you take good care of him. He is special. Don’t try to find us, as we don’t want him.
Yes, the man knew that this child would be a diamond amongst quarts crystal. He would call this child… Sable.
---
Every boy without a proper name who attended Grayson’s Academy and had not found a ‘home’ prior to his fifth birthday was automatically given the legal last name of Grayson. With over fifty boys in residence at the academy it took a while to decide just whom the letter addressed to ‘Mr. S. Grayson’ was for. Normally the children didn’t get much correspondence, but it did happen.
In the end David Grayson, third generation owner of the academy simply opened the letter and read it. It took him all of three seconds after completing the letter to realize that it was meant for Sable. That would not do. Sable was the best boy at the ‘school’ and a favorite among the ‘visitors.’ He could not loose his prize possession, but if he took this letter seriously then it would be unwise to keep the boy from attending this ‘Hogwarts’ school. It was truly something to ponder.

A/N: There are several reasons for my not going into the time prior to Harry/Sable’s receipt of his Hogwarts letter, most of which I think are obvious.
Please review so I know whether or not to continue.
