A Marriage Made

A Marriage Made

The Goblins at Gringotts Bank prided themselves on their unerringly correct assumption and interpretation of Wizarding Law. After all, finding loopholes and other concepts of being are what they are best at. One specific Goblin, Vladimir, the head of Wizarding Bequeathment, had the solemn duty of informing family members of their inheritances.

The document in front of him, a fifteen page will detailing the disbursement of the funds according to potential. Harry Potter, the fifteen, almost sixteen, boy-who-lived was to receive the congregate of the estate, with the rest going in percentile to the \'only other member worthy of the money\' namely Nymphadora Tonks, who received the mandatory fifty-one percentile.

Being a man of the law, Vladimir had planned to keep the will quiet the mandatory thirty days, as too keep Lord Voldemort from possessing the estate by rightful ascension, namely one Draco Malfoy. Everyone knew the bad blood between Draco Malfoy and Harry James Potter; the tale is as legendary as James Potter and Severus Snape\'s.

However, a leak in the bank, a foul Goblin by the name of Tailpipe had squealed to Lord Voldemort. Tailpipe, the Malfoy\'s personal accountant, would have been booted as head Goblin had Harry Potter inherited the account. Because of his greed, Narcissa Malfoy, as well as her son her now sitting across from him, sneering down at Vladimir as if he were some lower life form.

\"How dare you, you vile creature! You know what would have happened had my son not inherited his rightful claim. He is the Blood heir of the Black line, not the brat. I demand you revoke that will, ugly piece of parchment that it is, now! I will be speaking with your supervisor now about your deceit.\"

The son, Draco, had a smug appearance about him, as if anticipating his objection. The will, which was still out on the table in front of him, had the names of several members of Dumbledore\'s Order of the Phoenix and was quite possibly the single most important document Lord Voldemort could ever obtain.

Vladimir looked both annoyed and displeased as he realized the reason his plan failed, Tailpipe, the goblin that put the G in Greedy. Snarling at Tailpipe, Vladimir stood up and said, \"You may have won this day, Tailpipe, but as Vallan is my witness, you shall not prevail in this.\"

Grinning from ear to ear, Vladimir left the room to look at the law concerning Blood Heir challenging.

Harry Potter, the savior of the wizarding world, sat in his stuffy room at Number Four Privet Drive, in both anticipation and trepidation. It was nearing the middle of May, and he was awaiting word from his best friends. Three days ago, he had come home from his school, Hogwarts. A week, maybe two Harry figured, the days all seemed to mingle together from that period of time and his godfather had died.

A fugitive on the run, his Godfather had been wrongly imprisoned for the crime of killing thirteen non-magical people (muggles) and a wizard, Peter Pettigrew. Peter, still alive, however, had taken up refuge with Harry\'s best friend, Ron, and his family.

After Sirius\' death, Harry had been hit hard. A depression had hit him, and he was to the point that living with, or without Voldemort\'s defeat, seemed permanent.

So disintrigued, Harry did not notice the owl that was perched on the outside of his window until it was pecked.

The owl, one he had never seen before, was patiently moving back and forth as if the package it was holding contained some important document. He grabbed at the owl impatiently and grumbled as he noticed Gringotts seal.

Opening the letter, Harry\'s face contorted in both disbelief, and horror, at the contents. Without caring for the statute of secrecy, Harry ran outside and says, \"HELP!\"

\"Harry, what the bloody hell is going on! Why are you screaming?\"

His answer, shoving the letter in the chest of the person that had come, who just so happened to be Remus Lupin. The man grabbed the letter and paled. Nodding to Harry, who was being watched by the ever distrustful Dursley\'s, and said, \"Go inside, close the door and don\'t open it until I return.\"

Harry nodded in return and walked inside, scared. The words on that letter, if one could call it that, would change his life, and the lives of the wizarding world forever.
