Spell Master

Lucius sat in a large plush chair, behind a large and intricately carved oak desk and stared at his long time friend. Severus sat in a notably smaller chair, on the other side of the desk and glared.

“What?” The blond asked innocently with a mischievous smirk.

“You know what!” The dark haired man grumbled. Lucius knew exactly why the potions master was so miffed. That was HIS desk and if anyone should be sitting behind it, it should be him.

“Sev,” Lucius started bemused “It’s your own fault for putting such a small chair on that side of the--”

The raven-haired man interrupted with dismissive flick of the wrist, then sat a little straighter, in his tiny seat, before he asked in his superior Shakespearian voice. “What’s so important that you deemed it necessary to interrupt Draco’s lesson?”

“And what was my son learning here, that couldn’t be interrupted?” Malfoy asked curiously. Since Draco was 10 years old he had always spent at least 2 weeks every summer at his godfathers to learn about potions. This year, the boy had been here for a month. “His mother misses him, you know. You could have allowed him to visit at least once or twice. He starts school tomorrow.”

Severus trained his eyes on the man behind his desk; he could tell that Narcissa wasn‘t the only one who missed their son. “As a professor to where he attends, I am very well aware of when school starts. However, he couldn’t go home because our work is of the up most importance. I’ve been preparing him to be my apprentice this school year. He has to know how to brew all the potions, masterfully, or the other Houses will cry that I am showing favoritism.”

Lucius nodded knowingly, then said sarcastically. “Yes, and we all know that you, of all people, are the picture of fairness.”

Snape nodded, in acceptance of the compliment, and ignored the sarcasm completely.

Lucius bit back a chuckle. Severus amused him. However, Malfoy knew that it was a great honor for Severus to give Draco the title of apprentice. Professor Snape was probably the best Potions Master ever born in last 250 years. He had people begging him and willing to pay him for an apprenticeship position. “So what were you two making?”

“The Symantic potion.”

Lucius looked impressed, then arched a curious brow. “Dumbledore is allowing your students to know about that potion? Even though its what they consider....dark.”

“Of course not!” The Potions Master gruffed as he crossed his legs. “It’s a delicate potion and making it will help the boy improve his skill.” Then he looked away and admitted the real reason. “Anyway, Draco told me that he needs some more.”

Malfoy fought back a smile. Severus spoiled his son. “Didn’t you tell me that you weren’t making that potion anymore because not only was it expensive to make, but the only way to get the ingredients was to go to--”

The Potions Master interrupted. “I had to go to Knocturn Alley and get some stuff anyway so---”

“Riiight” The blond cut in with knowing humor. “Back to the subject at hand, Draco already has some of that potion.”

“Yes, that may be so, but he will need more before the year is through, and I am tired of making it for him. He needs to learn how to make it for himself.”

“Why would he need more? It only takes four drops to mask the magic being used in his room. He should have enough to last him this entire year.”

“Should being the key word, but your son has it in his mind that he is going to be the new unofficial DADA teacher, or should I say, the Dark Arts teacher for Slytherin. And before you ask why, it’s because he’s forbidden all of them to take the class under --”

“The werewolf. Yes, I know.” Lucius said with much contempt. “Draco came to me about this idea after we found out that Lupin was returning. It really is a shame that the Ministry deemed him competent to teach again. Do you think Dumbledore is going to allow the Slytherins not to take the class?”

“No. And they brought Lupin back for Potter.” Snape added with even more contempt, then smiled sinisterly. “After what happened to Black...” The professor couldn’t hide his amusement, nor did he try. “They thought that someone familiar in Hogwarts would keep the resident celebrity from turning into another You-Know-Who.”

“Which You-Know-Who are you talking about?” Lucius chuckled and sat back more comfortably in the oversized chair. “Are you talking about Voldemort or.... my son?”

“Voldemort.” Snape answered but couldn’t help but to chuckle as well. “But yes, it seems that they are equally feared.”

The two men were right about Draco’s dreaded reputation. After the attack on the train –at the end of his 4th year– the boy changed, and the Malfoy heir, now, had a taste for revenge like vampires had a taste for blood.

Draco was always a vengeful child, if he didn’t get his way. Although, growing up Veela royalty, he wasn’t used to not getting his way. Hogwarts was a rude awakening on many levels. It molded him and shaped him into what he was today. And if people thought that he was brat before, they were saying he was a demon now.

After the attack, it was rumored that Lucius was going to have the Death Eaters take retribution on the insufferable Gryffindors. All the Aurors were on high alert, some Aurors even stayed in the homes of the perceived intended victims. In spite of this, it turned out that all of the precautions taken were in vain. Because in actuality, the elder Malfoy made his son take care of his own retaliation as a punishment for letting his guard down. In Lucius’ knowing opinion, his son should have been able to block their pathetic attacks.

So it wasn’t until the middle of that summer did Draco finally decide on what he was going to do. Since murder was ruled out because he would be the obvious suspect, the Slytherin decided to sue. Yes, he sued and used the law, the very thing that was often used *against* his family, to invoke the revenge he wanted.

First to guillotine were the Weasley’s. Draco went after what they didn’t have and what he had more than enough of. He wanted a tort. He wanted their money. In the suit, Draco went after the maximum monetary amount for a hex of their ineptitude; 1,500 galleon per person.

And he got it.

4,500 galleon for the three Weasels who attacked him.

It still made Lucius smile that his son thought enough ahead to put a gag order on the settlement, so they couldn’t inform Potter and get his financial help. Draco also put a time limit in which he would be paid, or the children would be sent to Azkaban for 6 months. Draco did his research and found that most people who were sent to the prison went insane within the first two months. So Molly and Author Weasley did everything they could to earn the money before Aug 31. They sold everything that was of any value, like their wedding bands and heirlooms that had been in the family since the first generation Weasley. The two elder son’s sent what money they could ,and Mr. Weasley took out loans despite the outrageous interest rates. In the end, they were finically destroyed, but they paid the tort. Just barely. When Draco received his money, he made a show of the mentioning the new trinkets he bought. The trinkets were the prized items that had once belonged to the Weasley‘s. He also admitted that he really didn’t want the heirlooms, and that the only reason he bought them was to make sure they never got them back.

While boarding the train in his 5th year, the blond Slytherin wore the Weasley’s wedding bands on their heirloom gold chain. When Molly saw it, she immediately started crying. Seeing their mother cry, the twins and Ron tried to attack the Malfoy heir. Draco just tutted them as he smirked maliciously . He told them that if they felt their family could afford it, then they could attack him again. Of course the boys backed down immediately and Draco used that to his advantage during his entire fifth year.

The Weasley’s weren’t the only ones who were burned by Draco’s wrath. The Slytherin went down the Gryffindor line.

Hermione. She wanted to go to mediwitch school after finishing Hogwarts, but Draco made sure that because of this attack, she had a record, thus disqualifying her from *ever* being able to work as a mediwitch or in the Ministry. Draco found it surprisingly easy to block Granger’s eligibility. Not because of who he was, though his name did help his case. Mostly, it was because the majority of the high ranking officials were purebloods who did not trust nor want muggle borns in the Ministry. Some didn’t want them due to prejudice but most didn’t want them due to the muggle borns radical views concerning what they felt was “right” and their views concerning muggle equality in the wizarding word.

Next to the guillotine was Parvati, Dean and Seamus, Lavandar and the list went on and on, until there was no one left except Potter. And Draco, being the overly observant child that he was, knew exactly what would hurt everyone who hurt him. However, his revenge on the Boy-Who-Lived was the sweetest. He knew that Potter could easily pay the tort, and the Ministry would not deny the Savior of the Wizarding World a Ministry position. So the Malfoy heir decided to wait. Yes, he waited until Sept. 1 when he could see Potty’s reaction to what happened to his friends that summer. Draco ordered the gag order that kept everyone one from talking until the first day of school, specifically for this reason. The Slytherin knew that the only way to truly hurt the Golden Boy was to hurt... his friends.

Harry’s reaction was almost enough to satisfy Draco’s malicious taste. Almost. So to put some extra icing on the cake, Draco started a rumor that Dumbledore had spoken up on Harry’s defense which allowed the resident celebrity to be omitted from the punishment. It was very easy for everyone to believe the rumor, for the Headmaster often overlooked and even praised Harry’s misdeeds. This little lie caused a major rift within the Gryffindor House where their Golden Boy felt the backlash. Much to Draco’s amusement.

So it was during Draco’s fifth year that he began his reign of terror. He relentlessly harassed EVERYONE with a type of quite elegance that only nobility can master. However, he never did anything that could get *him* sued, well nothing that could be traced back to him, that is. The Slytherin reveled in the satisfaction of destroying everyone who dared to cross him. His maliciousness hit a pinnacle in his 6th year, when a 7th year Gryffindor, named Alousin, was stupid enough to confront him about his a behavior. In public, no less. She also told him that she wasn’t afraid of him. In public. She called him a bully, a bloody, short vindictive git with a Napoleon Complex. All of this, in public, mind you. Draco took all of the insults with an aristocratic grace, but what truly angered the blond boy was when she brought up the ferret incident. He was still sore about that. When she was through, Draco gave her a beatific smile that betrayed none of his anger, said “touché,” then bowed graciously before he walked away from her.

Oh how all the Gryffindor’s cheered and celebrated because someone finally was brave enough to stand up to Malfoy. Even Harry Potter was staying clear of him in fear that the Slytherin would go after Ron or Hermione for his retaliation, but Alousin Oford-Compt stayed true to her house of Gryffindor and stood up to the evil Malfoy heir. For a week, they patted the girl on her back and praised her accomplishment. Even the teachers whispered their praise to her. But her victory was to be short lived. For on the following Monday , Draco walked over to her, in that same hallway, and in front of those same people and said.

“I’m surprised your showing your face, considering what a disgrace you father is.”

Not knowing what he was talking about, she snapped back with a retort about his father, and walked away, but not before she reiterated the fact that she wasn’t afraid of him.

Unfortunately for her, her statements about the elder Malfoy only made Draco’s thirst for revenge that much stronger and her situation that much worse .

That Tuesday morning, when the owls came in for breakfast, the students and the teachers who received a paper saw what Draco was talking about, on the front page of their Daily Prophet. In bold letters it read: Muggle Born Ministry Official Has Affair with Underage Witch. And in a picture that took up most of the page, was Alousin’s father, caught in the guilty act of adultery with an underage pureblood Veela girl. Immediately after reading the headline, a large eagle owl dropped a letter in front of Alousin. It was a simple statement written in elegant calligraphy.

Gryffindor,

Sometimes fear is good thing. Especially when what you fear...is me.

Draco Diabolis Malfoy

After reading the message, it crumbled into dust. Distraught, the 7th year girl looked at Draco through tear blurred eyes. He was staring back at her with a self satisfied smirk that admitted that it he was responsible for her father’s misfortune. It also let her know that by her own actions, she was responsible for her father’s fall as well. No one crossed Draco Malfoy without repercussion. She knew this, and she was prepared for whatever he planned to do to her. However, she never fathomed that he would destroy her dad to make his point.

And destroy him Draco did, for her father’s plea of innocence fell on deaf ears, and within the week her father was fired from his high ranking job at the Ministry. A job that no other Muggle born ever had. His behavior turned out to be a big setback for all Muggle borns trying to get high-ranking Ministry jobs.

Unfortunately for Alousin, Draco wasn’t done yet. She had insulted his father and even first years knew *that* was a no no.

So that Hogsmeade weekend Draco visited the Notary Republic to look at some deeds. That in itself wasn’t odd. The boy was 16 years old, and was taken more of a role in his family businesses. So it was really no big deal, and no one took much note to it. Until that next Monday, that is, when Draco approached her again, in that same hall, and in front of those same people, and told her that she and her family had better be off his property within the week.

Like everyone, she thought he was bonkers. His property? If he was talking about the Oford Castle, well it sure as hell didn’t belong to him! *Her* family’s castle had been in her mother’s family for over 800years. Unfortunately, what she and her family didn’t know was that the land in which the house was set upon wasn’t completely paid for. There was a forgotten 800 year old debt of 17 shekels, yes ONLY 17 shekels that was supposed to be paid, at the latest, 400 years ago or the land and all property there on would go back on the market for whatever was owed on it. The debt was probably forgotten because it was such a small amount money. But more likely than not, the Ofords were told not to worry about the 17 pieces of silver. Whatever the reason, the dept was never paid and the contract was never changed, thus making what Draco did completely legal. So being the sly Slytherin that he is, the young Malfoy bullied the Notary into selling him the Oford land and everything there in, for 17 shekels. And while he was there, he also made the man sell him many other properties that were unfortunately not completely paid for.

The Oford legacy was not an impressive one. They were fairly wealthy, but nothing to brag about. They weren’t particularly powerful. Due to constant breeding with muggle borns, they had about as many squibs in their family as they had witches and wizards. Also, they didn’t partake in dark magic. So when Draco torched the place, he didn’t even bother to look through what they had left behind. He just threw a huge party and called it a bonfire.

Millicent, Blaise and Pansy had a ball dancing around the fire. Gregory and Vincent stayed at the buffet table and tried to eat their weight if food. Narcissa and Lucius were proud of their son’s ingenuity. They knew that this would be a coming out party that no one would soon forget.

Besides his five friends and both his parents, the other hundred or so guests had to fake their enthusiasm for the Oford misfortune. It wasn’t that they carried for that family, it was that they knew exactly what this party was. It was a warning for all to know that Draco Malfoy was not one to be messed with and that he was no longer the little boy who cried to his father when things didn’t go his way. He was a Malfoy, through and through.

After the bonfire, Draco made a big show of telling the story of how he bought such prime property for less than it would cost him to dine at a fine restaurant. He also let it be known that he bought many other things but he never told what. When news of this spread around the school, all who dared to laugh at him regretted their actions and now students and teachers alike were even more afraid of him. They were terrified actually. Yes, terrified that he might now own what is theirs. They were afraid of what he might do if he decided to turn his attention to them.

With that in mind, no one even dared to look at Draco any more, in fear that he might take it the wrong way and retaliate. Crowds even parted when he walked through the hallways. But what tickled the Slytherin the most, was that people were starting to call him You-Know-Who. His name was rarely spoken aloud in fear that what was said would get back to the him.

So Draco displayed the Malfoy political power; however, it wasn’t until the end of the year did he display the Malfoy magical power.

In one of his father’s legal tomes, Draco found a loophole in the law, which stated the statute of Dark Magic. The law stated that The Unforgivable Curses are illegal, unless the authority was vested to the user by the Ministry; however dark magic in itself was not illegal, though it was forbidden. After that discovery, the young Malfoy started a rumor that he was no longer a wizard but Warlock. A warlock was a Dark Master. And everyone knows that Dark Masters well surpass Dark Wizards in the skill of the Dark Arts.

Of course, no one believed this, but fearing his reputation, no one said that outright. It wasn’t until Draco killed Sirius Black and presented the head of the ex-Gryffindor, on a silver platter, during breakfast did they believe the rumor of his magical status.

It was quite disgusting the way it happened. The exhausted blond boy staggered through the large double doors of the Great Hall. From head to toe, he was drenched in blood, and he had a manic look in his crystal gray eyes. Screams were heard coming from students, while Draco’s feet slapped wetly on the stone floor as he made his way to the head table. All the professors stood up in alarm, but Draco only had eyes for Snape. Then, before anyone could ask what happened, he lifted the sliver cover of the tray, smirked, and announced with royal authority.

“The wizarding world no longer has to worry about the murderer Sirius Black. For I have killed him.”

There were screams from every direction. Many were scared because the murderer was on school grounds. Others screamed at the sight of a severed head on a silver platter. Others screamed because now they knew that Draco Malfoy was powerful enough to kill one of the most wanted criminals in the wizarding world. And lastly, there were shouts of joy, mostly from the Slytherin table for Draco’s accomplishment.

Dumbledore and Professor McGonagal slunk back into their seat as they tried to fight back the tears for their former student. Harry rushed up the steps, toward the head table, and tried to attack Draco, only to be stopped by Snape putting a Petrificus Totalus charm on him.

Then the Slytherin prince began to dramatically recount what happened for all to hear.

That night Draco had a pass to be out after curfew and permission to be in the Forbidden Forest, for he was looking for some jargon mint for Professor Snape and a bit of mipoweed for himself. Though he kept that part to himself, seeing that mipoweed was illegal for students to have. So it was merely a coincidence that Draco was in the forest the night when the three headed dog, known as Snuffles, was there.

It was while gathering the potions ingredients did he hear a suspicious rustling in the brush. Without investigating who the maker of the noise was, Draco thought it was best to leave. Stupid bravery was *not* a Slytherin trait, and the Forbidden Forest was known for a number of horrible beast. Beasts that he’d rather not have to deal with. However, it was while his back was turned when the large dog appeared and started charging him.

Normally, Draco wouldn’t have killed a three headed dog, in fear that it would have been Cerebus. But Cerebus would never attack him and after realizing that it didn’t have a serpents tail, the blond boy knew, for certain, that it wasn’t his demon cousin. So that meant it must have been an anigmi and whoever it was seemed to hate him enough to want him dead. With that bit of knowledge, Draco narrowed the suspects down to....uh... most of the wizarding population.

Still, Draco didn’t want to fight it. It wasn’t until he was bitten did he decide that it was time to put a stop to this. So actually, it was for self preservation that Draco decided to use his hidden powers to take care of this problem. Hidden for the fact that he didn’t use his dark arts skill, but actually his Veelan powers. However, he kept that bit of info a secret. What most people didn’t know was that Veela’s were demons. Yes, demons. They were heirs to Incubus and Succubus, but their powers didn’t stop at seduction.

It is said that no one lives after they’ve seen a Veela in True Fury, and this anigmus was no exception.

After a series of perfected attacks, one of the three heads were severed from the dogs body. This resulted into three things. One was Draco being sprayed and drenched in dog blood. The second was the boy becoming furious, for anyone who knew Draco Malfoy knew that he took three baths a day and he hated getting *dirty.* The third was that the person who attacked him fell out of his anigmus form.

Draco couldn’t believe his luck! When he started his defense attacks, he didn’t know who he was up against. It could have been the Dark Lord himself, for all he knew. However, now that he discovered who it was, Draco decided not to kill the man quickly but make him suffer. Yes, suffer because of who he was, and for attacking him, and for getting him dirty, and for the crime of attempted murder that he got away with against his “godfather,” so many years ago.

After his account, Draco presented the head of Sirius Black to Professor Snape. Dumbledore and McGonagal immediately got up to investigate the Forbidden Forest and retrieve the remains of their fallen ex-student and comrade. When they passed Draco, after not even bothering to make sure he was alright, the boy informed them that they wouldn’t be able to find the rest of Black’s body. When the Headmaster asked “why not,” the Slytherin gave a malicious smirk and answered with

“Because I fed it to the werewolves....”

It was by that statement did Albus Dumbledore understand that Sirius Black’s death was not result of a boy being afraid and protecting himself from a convicted murderer. No Sirius Black’s death was merely a debt of revenge being paid in full. Draco did this for his godfather. It was the boy’s sick sense of poetic justice for a prank that occurred when Severus was a student at Hogwarts. The older man looked a Snape with deep disappointment. But the look did not affect the other man. Instead, the Potions Master gave him defiant glare back. In the dark-haired man‘s opinion, it was about time for Black to get what he deserved.

In the wizarding community, Draco was celebrated as a hero, mostly do to his father influences. And Draco graciously told and retold his heroic battle.
~~~
“Severus!!” The elder Malfoy yelled.
“What?” The Potions Master snapped. “Why are you yelling?”
“Mayhaps it’s because I’ve been calling your name or five minutes now.” Lucius snapped right back, but in a bemused tone. “I know what you are thinking about, Sev and as glad as I am that Black is dead, *you’ve* got to stop spacing out while you mentally gloat.”
Eyes darker than coal narrowed angrily, but he couldn’t deny the truth. Lucius knew him too well; he was lost in his memory. Again.
“Now, to why I came here?” All joking was put aside by the seriousness in blond man’s voice. “I don’t want you spying for Dumbledore anymore.”
Schooling his shock into impassiveness, the professor said “You know I just can’t stop. Especially not after what I did to him at the end of the year banquet.”
“Like hell you can’t!” Malfoy growled. This was a reoccurring argument. Anyways, in the elder Malfoy’s opinion Dumbledore got off easy.
“The Dark Lord is the strongest that he’s ever been. Dumbledore is not going to accept his most valuable inside connection to just ---”
“Severus!” Lucius interrupted. “I know you and the old fool have come to some sort of agreement, but whatever it was, you have already paid it in full! I’m serious this time. I can’t keep covering for you and the only thing you are going to accomplish now, by going back ,is getting yourself killed.”
“Oh Lucius I didn’t know you cared.” The dark-haired man bit out bitterly.
For the briefest of seconds, Severus saw a flash of pain in those gray eyes of his long time friend and past lover. But then the emotion was gone and only cold steel was left in those beautiful eyes.
“Fuck you, Severus!” Lucius got up from his seat, and headed for the study door. “Fuck you to bloody hell!”
Snape stayed in his seat, not even bothering to look as lover left in a dark cloud of fury. He knew that his statement had hurt his ex. That’s why he said it. Just beneath the surface of their friendship, the Potions Master was sometimes consumed with anger toward Lucius. And the elder Malfoy knew it.
But one couldn’t change the past...
Even though they had tried.
~~~

It all started when Lucius left to visit relatives on his mother’s side of the family. She was a Veela and a Noble born of the 3rd house. He was gone for only six months; however, when Lucius came back, he was MARRIED!! Yes, married, and his wife was PREGNANT!!! What was worse, was that they hadn’t even broken up! Yes, he and Lucius had secretly been a steady item since his 4th year at Hogwarts. And then to make it worse, as if anything could get worse than being blindsided with the news of the unexpected marriage and future child of your boyfriend, Lucius had the fucking cheek to say that “nothing had to change between them.”

The mother fucking gall!!!

Of course as a Malfoy, Lucius wanted the cake and eat it too.

Severus decided that he wasn’t going to be Malfoy’s adulterous desert and decided that he wanted nothing to do with the man, anymore. Snape cut all ties off with him. It was a nasty breakup, and the professor knew that the only reason he was alive, today, was because of Malfoy’s love for him. Although at the time, Severus had hoped that Lucius would kill him in his anger and take him out of his heart-broken misery. But alas, he lived. So in keeping with his decision to break away from Lucius, Severus decided to break away from Voldemort as well. Being a Death Eater meant nothing to him. The only reason he became a follower was for *Lucius.*

Then, in the midst of Severus’s depression, Dumbledore came to him, and spoke to him, with sweet, kind, reassuring words until Snape was recruited for the side of the “light.” He was told not to quit the Death Eaters because he could use his inside connections for the greater good. Severus was so angry at his ex that he accepted the job. He was the perfect spy. No one would believe that Severus Snape would willing follow the Gryffindor headmaster. Especially not after the Headmaster made excuses for his favorite students after one tried to kill him. But people are very susceptible to persuasion when they are depressed and betrayed, and Severus wasn’t an exception.

It was only after Draco was born did the two ex lovers agree to meet again. Lucius invited him to the Malfoy Manor. Severus only went to get physical proof of his ex’s involvement with the Death Eaters. When he arrived, Lucius brought him into a hidden room, and spoke in the Veelan tongue. Instantly, a door appeared and the two men were magically brought to the Veelan palace. The young potions professor was reared breathless. The palace looked like heaven itself. That is until he was informed that he would be meeting Lucius’s wife. Then the place looked more like hell. Severus didn’t want to meet her. He was content on hating her from a distance.

It was about a 30-minute walk through a labyrinth of white marble corridors before they finally arrived at the massive sized nursery. Again, he stopped breathing. There in front of him stood Princess Narcissa of the 7th house, in all her Veelan glory. The princess had an unearthly beauty. It could easily be said that she had a heavenly beauty for she looked like an angel. Her skin was flawless and like porcelain. She had long white-blond hair, part of which was braided around her head like a crown, with priceless jewels woven into it. The rest was gathered in a genie like pony tail that hung to her ankles. She wore layers of pale purple and white diaphanous silk, in a kimono like robe which were embroidered with jewels. However, what stood out the most, were her wings. She had large, white wings, like those depicted of angels in muggle churches. Actually, she looked like what a muggle would consider an angel.

Severus felt very ugly compared to her. In his opinion, it was no wonder that Lucius left him.

He met the baby, Lucius‘s pride, next. The young prince, Draconis Diabolis Malfoy looked like a cherub with his tiny wings. The child was completely adorable with his soft, milky-white skin and with his hair standing up, in every direction in white-blond, downy tuffs. When Draconis met Severus for the first time, the boy’s crystal gray eyes trained on the man in a curious, unwavering gaze.

Since all Veela had pale eyes and pale hair, the baby boy had never seen anyone with black hair or with dark eyes before. He was completely awestruck. Then he started to crawl toward the man, but not on his knees. Draco never crawled on his knees. The boy had an awkward crawl, he held his bum up high and he walked on his hands and feet. The sight gave the three adults a good chuckle before Severus picked up the tiny cherub. Draco giggled and wiggled with glee, and his tiny, white, feathery wings fluttered wildly with excitement. He liked the dark-haired man and Severus liked him. When he tried to wrap his tiny arms around Severus‘s neck, everyone oohh’d and aahh’d because they thought that Draco was trying to give him a hug. But in actuality the baby boy was just trying to grab those raven locks.

After meeting Lucius’s family, Severus could no longer blame his ex for his infidelity. Narcissa was the most beautiful creature he had ever seen and his child looked like a gods gift.

Later that day, Narcissa pulled him aside and sweetly asked him if he was going to stay. She told him that she knew about his relationship with her husband and that she didn’t mind. Severus didn’t believe her even though her statement looked genuine.

Well, he didn’t believe her until she started running her fingers through his hair. The princess had lived her entire life in the Veelan palace, so like her son, she had never seen anyone with black hair or eyes. She was fascinated with it. She was fascinated with him. She even told him so in a seductive whisper right before she seduced him. By the time Severus knew what he was doing, he was in her bedchamber about to make love to the nude angel before him. Yes, he was about to have sex with his ex lovers WIFE! Quickly, he grabbed his clothes turned and tried to run out of the massive bedroom. But before he reached the ornately, and sexually inspired, carved double doors, he was stopped by a naked Lucius. The blond man was caressing his manhood as he enjoyed the show between his ex and his wife. Then Narcissa pressed her naked body against the raven-haired man’s back and whispered seductively that Veela often have three way marriages.

For six years they lived that way. In a three way marriage. Almost two years into it, Narcissa gave birth to her second child. This time it was a girl, and this time it was Severus’s. They knew this because the child had black hair like her father. But in every other feature she was Veelan. She had ice blue eyes and porcelain skin and was extremely beautiful, like her mother. The only other thing which differed from other Veela’s was her lack of wings.

Severus couldn’t believe that he could have such a beautiful child, and the little girl was his world. Lucius was a proud stepfather and was allowed to name her.

She as called Vanity after their wife.

For the next five years everything was perfect, except for the fact that their lives often kept them apart. Narcissa stayed with her children in the palace, in the land of the Veela. Severus and Lucius went back to the wizarding world. Severus was a double agent of sorts. He answered to Dumbledore and Lucius. His lover, and husband, always made sure that his activities were never detected by any other Death Eaters and Severus would alert Lucius to Auror investigations or raids. They lived their separate lives and for safety reasons, they kept their relationship a secret from the world. The family only got together during holidays.

Draconis, who they started calling Draco, took his role of big brother very seriously and always tried to keep his rambunctious little sister out of trouble. She was always getting into something. She made Harry Potter look like a poster child for good behavior.

But during the winter hols of her 5th year, the family visited the wizarding world. Since Narcissa and children had never seen snow or anything other than the Veela palace, Lucius and Severus thought it would be a good experience for the three of them, despite Narcissa‘s protest. The trip to the wizarding world was also planed to coincide with Draco’s initiation into a secret society.

What no one expected, was that Narcissa, Draco and Vainity would become severely ill. No one knew what to do to help them. Snape tried everything in his ability. Lucius tried everything in his ability. They both hired the best doctors, and shamans money could buy. But nothing worked. The doctors said that it was the change of environment that caused the illness. Slowly, Draco and Narcissa got better, but Vanity unfortunately only got worse. After news that their daughter was dieing Narcissa fell into a depression, and Lucius and Severus argued *a lot.*

At age 7, Draco didn’t understand what was going on. He only understood that his little sister was getting a hell of a lot more attention than he was. And he didn’t like it, not one bit, so he started acting out. He never got in trouble though. All three of the adults knew that he didn’t understand and everyone was too sad to punish him for his behavior.

Unfortunately, a few months shy of a year later, Vanity died. Her death marked the end of the three way marriage between Lucius, Narcissa, and Severus.

Heartbroken, Narcissa blamed her husbands for taking them to the wizarding world. She believed that her daughter would still be alive if they had never left the palace. That, in turn, enraged Lucius, and he blamed Narcissa for coddling the children and never allowing them to leave the palace so that they could be immune to what ever took their little girl. Through the vicious verbal fights, Severus was just... not there. His daughter was dead. HIS. No matter how upset Lucius was, Draco was alive. Lucius’s child was alive while HIS was dead. It wasn’t long before the professor stopped going to the palace. Stopped going to the Manor and left the marriage and them completely. He found solace hid away in the dungeons of Hogwarts.

When Severus left, Narcissa went into an even deeper depression. Like her first husband, she truly loved Severus. And after the loss of her beloved baby girl and now her husband... it was just too much. Under constant medical care, she went back to the palace. But Lucius wouldn’t allow the 8 year old Draco to go back. They stayed in the Manor. The same place that his sister died. Lucius was determined never to loose another child. He was going to toughen his son up, all the while spoiling him and over protecting him.

Though his feelings weren’t top priority during all this drama, the young prince took the death of his little sister hard too. She was his best friend and his self proclaimed responsibility. He felt that he had failed her and that she died because he was irresponsible. He blamed himself because he kept her up late the night before she died. He kept her up laughing at stupid jokes and showing off his magical prowess. The little boy felt that it was his fault that she didn’t wake up that morning because he made her so tired. Then when daddy Severus left, Draco believed that it was his fault too because he wasn’t a good enough son. But he kept all his fears to himself. Everyone was already blaming each other and hating each other. He didn’t want them to hate him too.

But no one knew that the little boy was going through so much inner turmoil. Because everyone too busy being rapped up in their own hurt and blaming someone else for the death of Vanity.

“I miss her too, you know.” Lucius admitted solemnly as his hand grabbed the door knob. “And I never was glad that---”

“Lucius.” The raven-haired man interrupted. “You don’t have to--”

“Yes I do!” The flaxen-haired man grit out. “This has to be said!” He stomped back over toward his ex husband and grabbed the man by the shoulders. “Whether you believe me or not, this has to be said!” Gray eyes bore into ebony. “Severus, I was never glad that it was your child and not mine! NEVER! Vanity may have been your blood, but she was my child just the same! I was there the day she was conceived. I was there the day she was born, and I was there the day she died! I loved her! Just as much as I love Draco! And if I could, I would have asked Death to take *me* instead of her! So stop giving me that bull shit that I never cared! You know fucking well how much it hurt me when she died!” And in a broken whisper, he admitted “ And when you left us.”

There was a long pause of uncomfortable silence before he raven-haired man spoke.

“I know, Luc...and I’m sorry ...” Severus looked down at his lap and at his balled up fist as tears started to trickle out of his obsidian eyes. “It’s just that...” The words were slowly forth coming, but he knew that his ex spoke the truth. It was just that the truth didn’t make the pain go away. “I miss her.” He admitted in a choked sob. “So much.”

“I know Sev, I know.” Lucius crouched down, cupped the other man’s cheek and wiped away his tears with his thumb.
