Chapter 9: Be On Your Guard

Before everyone knew it was just two weeks before the Halloween Ball and this weekend just happened to be the Hogsemeade trip, everyone was just excited especially the girls they couldn’t wait to get into town and try on dresses, and then finding the perfect shoes. Hermione, Ginny, Susan, Lavender, and Luna were planning their trip since then end of September and that’s all the guys and Mitch heard about was dresses this make up that so they finally broke away one night and Mitch decide to teach them how to play catch with an American football down by the lake.

Ron, Harry, Mitch, and Draco were on their way down to the lake to have a good time and Mitch was going to teach them how to play a little bit of American football. She was carrying a lemon shaped ball with weird white things on the front and it was brown everywhere and had bumps and in red, white and blue colors the letters said, “NFL”
On the side, as they reached the doors Ron asked, “So Mitch aren’t you into all that girl stuff like make up and dresses?”

Mitch laughed as they walked through the doors that Harry and Draco opened up and said, “I just never been that type of girl I guess I’m more into sports and dressing the way I want to dress. And I really don’t like wasting my time in front of the mirror putting on pounds of make up on just to look good for somebody, I mean what’s the point of putting fake stuff on when everyone looks good without that cake stuff,” they guys nodded in agreement.

“You know I never thought about it that way,” Harry said as they walked a little further down on the grounds.

“That is true I always thought that when a girl first wakes up is when she looks beautiful the most,” Draco said and every one nodded again.

“Yeah, then you have the natural ones that don’t put any stuff on their faces and just look beautiful as ever,” Ron said dreamily.

“See you three are the only ones that get where I’m coming from with girls, I mean come on what’s the point of putting crap on your face when some one sees you for who you are,” Mitch told them as the finally stopped at a spot on the grounds.

“I see your point, we can talk about girls another time, right now I wanna know how to play this American sport of yours,” Draco said with a small smile.

They laughed and Mitch said, “Okay well first I think we’ll just start out by passing the ball around, but first I’ll show you how to hold it,” as the three boys moved in a little bit closer Mitch explained that when she throws it she holds the lemon shaped ball in her hand and has her thumb on the opposite side of the white laces and her fingers are lined up across the laces and when she throws she brings her arm back behind her and almost halfway she lets go and lets the ball slide out of her hand.

“Okay guys let’s spread out a bit and just that,” The guys nodded and spread out a little bit and Mitch passed the ball to Harry.

While the guys and Mitch were playing catch Hermione, Ginny, Luna, Lavender, and Susan were in the heads common room invited by Hermione of course looking through magazines and talking about boys, Mitch and the upcoming Ball.

“So Hermione we’ve all been dying to know,” Ginny said as the girls got all giggly and quiet at the same time.

“Want to know what?” Hermione asked looking at the girls with a weird look.

“When you fell in love,” Lavender said with a smile.

“Love? I didn’t fall in love I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Hermione said defending her feelings for a certain girl.

“Oh come, it’s written all over your face, and we’ve all seen the way you and Mitch act around each other you two are in love and when you two are together you don’t seem to care who’s around you, plus I caught you two snogging the other night remember,” Susan said before she took a sip of her pumpkin juice.

“Just admit it Hermione you are in love and you love it,” Luna said with her normal dreamy expression.

“Okay, okay, yes I am in love but…” Hermione started but then stopped and the girls got closer.

“But what?” All the girls asked at the same time.

“Mitch hasn’t asked me to be her girlfriend yet, I mean yes I am completely head over heels for her and she treats like I’m her world, but I think it would be more meaningful is she asks me to be her girlfriend,” Hermione explained as she walked over to the window and looked out and saw the four people she cared about tossing around that ball that Mitch brought.

“Hermione, sweetheart, Mitch will ask you I know she will she’s just waiting for the right moment,” Lavender told her best friend.

“Just give it time Hermione she’ll ask you and when she does you better say yes,” Ginny said and all the girls laughed.


Mitch and the guys were making conversation and tossing around that lemon shaped ball around.

“So guys I’ve been wondering something,” Mitch said as she caught the ball from Ron and threw it to Draco.

“And what’s that mate?” Harry asked as he caught the ball from Draco and threw it to Ron.

“Well you all know I have feelings for Hermione,” She explained, as she caught the ball from Ron and threw back to him.

“Well duh I knew from the first day I saw you,” Ron said as he caught the ball from her and threw it Draco.

She smiled at that thought, “Yeah, and my feelings are starting to run deeper than I thought,” she explained as she watch Draco throw the ball to Harry.

“So are you saying you’re in love with Hermione?” Harry asked as he caught Draco’s ball and tossed it to Mitch who caught but then kept it.

“Yeah I guess you can say I am,” She said as she smiled and sat down, the guys walked over and sat around her.

“Then why don’t you tell her?” Ron asked

“Thing is I haven’t asked her to be my girlfriend yet,” she told them honestly.

“Well do you plan to ask her?” Harry asked

“Yeah I do during the Hogsemeade trip after we’re all done with everything,” she said with a smile.

“Bout bloody time,” Draco said with a smile and everyone laughed.


“So you guys wouldn’t have a problem if me and Hermione are together?” she asked looking at all three of them.

“Nah are you kidding, have you seen the way you two are together it’s like no one exist you two are always off in your little world,” Ron told her.

“And I’ve never seen her this happy with any one else not even Viktor Krum,” Harry said as he patted Mitch on the back.

“And how many times have we caught you two snogging?” Draco asked jokingly.

They all laughed, “But really we wouldn’t have a problem and we’re happy for you,” Harry said with a smile.

“Yeah and don’t worry we’ll make sure Jessie and Pansy won’t tear you two apart,” Ron said reassuring her.

“Don’t worry about Jessie and Pansy right now there’s a girl on your mind and in your heart, and you happen to be in love with her,” Draco told her as he lightly patted her on her back as well.

“Thanks guys that means a lot,” she said with a smile.

“But you also need to be on your guard when it comes to Hermione,” Harry warned.

“Why?” she asked wondering what she needed to know about the girl that stole her heart.

“Let’s just say that if you ever get into an argument with her just say, ‘You’re right, I’m wrong, I’m sorry,’ never ever say that she was wrong,” Ron started off the list of not what to do with Hermione.

“And when she wants to be left alone don’t leave her alone ever, she just wants you to follow her and to comfort her,” Harry explained.

“And lastly, she’s kind of self conscience about her body, just don’t rush into anything that requires taking off clothing,” Draco said.

“Got it, so don’t argue, be there even when she doesn’t want me, and no sex anytime soon,” she said as she counted the list on her fingers.

The guys laughed and along with Mitch and after a few more minutes of talking they decided to head in to get some sleep it was only Thursday night so they had tomorrow then the weekend. The boys would show Mitch around while Hermione would be with the girls and then after a few hours they would meet up at the Three Broomsticks and hang out and Mitch would ask Hermione to be her girlfriend.

The guys couldn’t wait until the weekend to show their new friend around, as they got to the heads common room they all said hello to the girls and Mitch walked over to Hermione and gave her a small kiss sitting next to her on the couch.

Mitch looked around at all her new friends and smiled, for the first time in her life she didn’t have a care in the world at this moment and she couldn’t be happier she didn’t want this night to end. But all good things must come to and end.

While Mitch and everyone else were having a great night Jessie and Pansy were in the Slytherin common room hovering over a cauldron that had a reddish potion inside, “And just add the bat’s ear and stir, then we let it sit for 48 hours and the love potion will be complete, and you will get your girl back,” Pansy said with a smile.

Jessie smirked as she stirred the potion, Mitch will be hers and she will do what ever it takes. Even if it means she would have to take away Mitch’s little girlfriend for the second time, in Mitch’s life.
