Hermione Snape was in the hallway of the Ministry of Magic for the masked ball. She was in a sleeveless gold ballgown with a gold mask in the shape of an owl. Her husband Severus Snape was dressed the same. When they arrived her parents and their friends has already arrived and were dancing and having a good time Hermione loved to dance and so Severus asked her almost immediately. After an hour or so they took a break and Severus went to get them drinks. As she went to go sit down Hermione saw something strange in a mirror.
In her refection she saw that she bore two tattoos and had an odd shaped crescent moon scar on her right arm. There was a tattoo on her left breast of some sort of family crest. She then was shocked to see that on her left forearm she bore the dreaded Dark Mark. She heard an unnatural chime of a clock that would normally indicate the hour of midnight. The she heard a voice say “Unmask! Unmask!” When the group did Hermione was horrified to see that there was nothing but sculls underneath prompting her terrified and horrified scream
Hermione jolted awake shaking and screaming. When she looked over to Severus for some reassurance she found him gone. She was confused for a moment until she saw the calendar that read December 14th It was the day her parents arrived earlier than they planned. Her mother insisted coming over to help with the wedding preparations. Severus wanted to be married on Christmas Day. It was quite frankly a miracle that her mother was able to reserve the church and Minster on such short a notice. The most important issue was take care of but there was much left undone.
The witch quite frankly had no time to dwell on the nightmare, The nightmare of planning the wedding was hellish enough. Hermione barely had enough time to dress and make tea before her parents arrived. Hermione had seen that her father had started to grill Severus by his dark expression. She went over and kissed him first He returned the kiss and whispered in her ear “Something wicked this way comes”. Hermione playfully swatted Severus before she kissed her parents and Tonks hello. Tonks accompanied Severus because her parents were more comfortable in a car and Severus could not drive. Tonks gracefully bowed out of staying for dinner. However she promised to come by the next day with suggestions from her own wedding to Charlie. Then after dinner her parents retired to bed after their journey leaving the pair alone. Hermione went to her hiding place to retrieve a present for Severus. He might have forgotten the twelve days of Christmas had started but she did not and the present was just the thing to get him out his dark mood. She lay down next to him on the couch in the parlor and gave it to the confused wizard.
He opened it to find the complete works of Shakespeare bound in leather. Then comprehension dawned on his face. “Thank you darling it is wonderful. This is the very Ecstasy of Love” he replied kissing her deeply. He then rose and went to his own hiding place. Severus did not forget after all. “ What is it Santa Severus?” she teased. Open it and find out” he said simply. She opened it to find a red leather bookmark with her initials on them. “Oh darling it’s beautiful” she said. They laid there the rest of the night reciting to each other.
