Spinner's End
Hermione and Ginny looked up at the cascading waterfall in awe. It was beautiful. It fell over a hundred feet and crashed into crystal blue water below. The sound was deafening. They looked at each other and smiled. It had been a long time since they felt awe at something so magnificently beautiful. Nature had a way of worming its way into their hearts.
“Welcome to Spinner’s End, number two.” Severus said. To see their pure smiles had made him feel warm inside, something he was not used to. It disturbed in a little bit but fought down the feeling as he showed them up the path to the concealed doorway. The doorway itself was covered in ivy that wound its way up the rock face.
Hermione and Ginny followed in a daze. They both had a love for nature that surpassed the love they held for the whole world. This was one of the things that drove them so much toward success. They did not want to see something so beautiful as this be destroyed in the war if the did not win.
The two of them had found Druidism with a hint of Paganism. Not only were they witches but they practiced the Old Religion every day before they started their days, praying to the Goddess Diana to bless them with success of the hunt. It filled them with courage and strength to get the job done. And then they would repent to the Horned God and ask him to take the souls they had delivered to the Crone for the afterlife. They really did believe in the afterlife. If they hadn’t they would have died early on from fear of losing everything. But knowing that their souls would move on, letting them know they could die in peace and be reborn again. Thankfully though they would have fifty years of peace before having to relive. And they looked forward to peace any way they could have it.
Severus led them up to an old elevator that took them to the first floor of the manor. Ginny and Hermione stepped from the elevator and gasped. The manor was huge. It had vaulted ceilings and marbled floors. There was a winding staircase that led to the upper levels, made from dark mahogany wood. It was polished till it was gleaming. Off to their right was a large drawing room and huge fireplace that took up one part of the wall. In front of it were large deep-seated sofas that were upholstered in plush velvet of a deep green. A tapestry was hung over the mantle, a Slytherin Crest. Hermione smirked at this. On the floor was a large Persian rug in dark reds and blacks.
“Gryffindor red, professor?” Hermione asked smirking.
“That is not Gryffindor red, that is blood red, Hermione.” Severus said.
“Uh huh.” Hermione said unconvinced.
Severus scowled. “Let me show you were you will be staying. And then I will show you the library.” Hermione’s eyes lit up while Severus rolled his. Hermione turned around to study the rest of the room.
Severus leaned down to Ginny and whispered, “I’m never going to be able to drag her out of that damn library, am I?”
Ginny giggled and then sobered immediately when Hermione spun around.
“What?” She looked at both of them with an eyebrow raised.
“Nothing.” They said in unison.
“Come on, I’ll show you were you’ll be staying.” Severus motioned for them to follow them up the stairs.
“Your manor is spectacular Professor.” Ginny said as they climbed the stairs.
“Thank you Ms. Weasley.” Severus stopped in front of a doorway. “This will be your room. The pool is down the hall. I’ll have to give you a proper tour later but I’m sure you would like to unpack first, am I right?”
“Yep, that would be perfect.” Hermione said.
“You have an ensuite bathroom that has everything, of course. And two closets, god knows how many clothes women have. I’m presuming of course that you are sharing a room. Somewhere back in Grimmauld Place there was mentioning of you two being lovers.”
“Yes we’ve been together over a year.” Hermione said.
“We found that sex is the best kind of release,” Ginny said smirking as she shoved Hermione through the door, leaving Severus standing out in the hallway blushing head to toe with the naughty thoughts of his former students together going through his head.
Damn women and their sense of humours, Severus thought as he headed towards his bedroom with the intention of taking a long cold shower.
