Chapter Nine

Ginny had a hard time falling back asleep after her odd dream.After trying for nearly two hours,she decided to give up.She got out of bed and walked out of her bedroom smelling the unmistakable smell of Ruby cooking breakfast.Ginny tried to sneak past the kitchen,not wanting Ruby to read her like a book,as she always had.But the floor creaked just as she was passing and Ruby turned around,a smile on her face.

"Morning Sunshine,"She greeted."didn't think you'd be up this early after your late night.I'll make you some eggs.Come,sit down and tell me all about it."Ruby went into the fridge and grabbed some more eggs while Ginny took a seat at the small table.

"Something wrong?"Ruby asked,looking at Ginny for a moment.Ginny began to feel nervous.She was busted,she knew it.

"No,just tired."She replied,yawning.Ruby gave Ginny a look that reminded her a lot of Hermione,but did not inquire any more.Ruby finished making the eggs and put out two plates,taking a seat across from her lover.

"So...tell me all about it.When do I get to meet him?"She said,smiling.She was such a morning person.Ginny had never noticed it before but it really annoyed her.

"Well...his name is Draco Malfoy,"Ginny started."he's a year older than me so he's now twenty.He has a a two year old son with a dreadful girl from school who was his girlfriend for a few years.He lives in a nice one story house on Colbourne and he's really changed since school.But for the better.Much more mature."

"Well,"Ruby said,digging into her eggs."he sounds nice.What did you talk about?You better have mentioned me."

"Uh,yes.We did talk about you,"Ginny lied."we talked about school as well.What we're doing now.All the works.We basically just caught up on old times."

"Sounds like a lot of fun."Ruby's eyes suddenly went wide with excitement.Ginny cringed.She absolutely loathed Ruby's excited look.She rather resembled a dear caught in some headlights.

"What is it?"Ginny sighed.She never really liked Ruby's ideas.

"I just got the most amazing idea!Why don't we invite him over to dinner tonight?"Ginny's face fell.She'd wanted to break things off with him today and she most definately did not want him around Ruby.

"Oh,I don't know-"

"Don't be silly,Gin.It's a great idea.Call him up right now and tell him we insist he come over tonight for dinner.He can bring his son too if he wants."Ruby was much too insistant.Ginny hated that about her too.She seemed to be noticing a lot of little things that she hated about Ruby.She'd never noticed most of these things before.She had always thought Ruby to be perfect.

"Fine,I'll go call him."Ginny sighed in defeat.There was no arguing with Ruby.If she said no,she'd ask questions and Ginny hated lying to her.Besides,Draco would probablly say no anyway.

Ginny went to the phone and called Draco.He'd given her his phone number last night telling her to call anytime.Luckily,she knew for a fact he would not be up this early.Everyone at Hogwarts knew Draco was not a morning person and it should not have changed since school.

Ginny dailed his number and waited.After a few rings she was just about to hang up when she heard someone on the other line pick up the phone.

"Daddy!"She heard what must be Lucifer calling Draco on the other end."The silly box was making noises so I picked it up!"She heard some grumbling and hurried footsteps.

"Hello?"Came Draco's groggy voice on the other end of the phone.Ginny was just about to hang up on him when she saw Ruby motioning for her to talk.She sighed.

"Hi,Draco?It's Ginny."

"Ginny?"He sounded as if he was thinking hard."What the bloody hell are you doing calling so early?It's not even 8 o'clock yet."

"Yeah,sorry about that.It's just Ruby is so insistant."Ginny said,faking a laugh.

"Ruby?Your girlfriend Ruby?"Draco asked,sounding sligtly confused.

"Yes,Draco.God,you're slow in the morning."Ginny told him.

"Yeah,well I thought everyone at Hogwarts would've known I'm not a morning person,"Draco said with a small laugh."anyways,is there a reason for such an early phone call or do I have to hang up?"

"Um,no there's a reason."Ginny told him.Ruby tapped her wrist as a signal for Ginny to hurry up.

"Well spill it or I'm hanging up."Draco said,impatiently.

"Uh,well,"Ginny stuttered."Ruby and I were thinking that..uhh..maybe you and Lucifer could um...come to dinner at our place tonight?"Draco didn't say anything for a minute,as if he was thinking.

"Well,Lucifer's going to Malfoy Manor tonight-"

"Okay,so you can't?No problem then!"Ginny said,concealing her smile.She was just about to hang up when she heard Draco shout.

"Hey!No,that's not what I said!"Draco shouted at Ginny,causing her face to fall."I was just saying,Lucifer is going to Malfoy Manor today for the night so he can't come,but I'd love to."

"Oh,alright.See you at six then?"Ginny said.

"Sounds good."

"You know where it is."

"Yup.See you tonight."

"Okay,bye."Ginny hung up the phone and turned to face Ruby.

"So,is he coming?"She asked,all excited.

"Yeah..."Ginny said,trying to hide her disapointment."he is."

"Great!"Ruby exclaimed.She then suddenly looked all serious."Oh my gosh!What am I gonna' make?"

"Gin?Will you please get the door?"Ruby shouted from the kitchen as the doorbell rang.Ginny mustered up all the courage she could,took a deep breath and opened the door to see a very sexy looking Draco in his usual black attair.

"Hello."He said casually with a smirk.

"Hey you."Ginny said,feeling herself blush.Oh this was gonna' be interesting.Draco gave Ginny a once over,admiring her outfit of leather pants and a blue halter top.

"Wow,"He said,his smirk deepening.Ginny felt herself blush again."so...you gonna' invite me in or should I just stand here and look pretty?"Ginny snapped back into reality.

"Oh,right,sorry,"She said,opening the door a little wider.Draco walked in and handed Ginny a tupper wear container.

"What's this?"Ginny asked,accepting the container.

"Just a salad.Thought I'd help out."Draco told her.

"Oh,alright then,"Ginny said.She never thought Draco could cook.As she remembered him he'd been a spoiled child who never had to lift a finger.She never really imagined him cooking.She just thought he had a house elf stashed in his house somewhere,even though she'd already seen him cook."okay,you just sit down and I'll go run this into the kitchen."Ginny told him,motioning towards the couch.

She suddenly felt very embarassed about her apartment.It wasn't grungy looking like The Burrow,but it definately wasn't like Draco's nice house.She shook off this feeling as she brought the salad into the kitchen where Ruby was cooking.

"What's that?"Ruby demanded,eyeing the container.

"Draco brought a salad."Ginny informed her girlfriend.

"Oh,well I thought I was making the food."Ruby said,sounding annoyed.

"He was just trying to be nice."Ginny defended Draco.

"Whatever."Ruby said.Ginny rolled her eyes and returned to the living room where Draco was sitting on the couch.

"Dinner should be ready in a few."Ginny told him,sitting down next to him.Draco nodded and then stared at her.

"What?"She asked,feeling nervous.

"You look amazing,"He told her,hunger in his eyes.Ginny giggled.Draco moved as close to her as he could without sitting on her and stared into her blue eyes."Merlin,you're beautiful.I just can't get enough of you."Draco leaned his face in closer.Ginny felt his soft lips on hers and completely forgot where she was.With his hand on her thigh and his lips pressed up against her's,she felt as if she'd float away.Draco broke away from the kiss abruptly as he heard a creak in the floor coming from the kitchen.Draco moved back to the other end of the couch as Ruby appeared in the doorway of the kitchen.

"Dinner's ready."She announced with a smile on her face.Ginny stood up quickly and lead Draco into the kitchen where three places were set at the table.Ruby had really outdone herself.She loved to show off,hence why she was so good at being a burlesque dancer.There two large candles in the centre of the table and the foor covered most of the table.There was the salad Draco had brought,home made bread,lasagna and garlic bread.

"Wow."Ginny said,earning herself a kiss from Ruby.She noticed Draco stiffen slightly.

"Looks great."Draco commented when the two had broken apart.

"Why thank you,"Ruby said as the three sat down in their places."I'm Ruby by the way.I've heard a lot about you,Draco."Draco glanced at Ginny and smirked.

"I've heard quite a bit about you as well."He lied.Ginny had only just mentioned her once.This seemed to make Ruby happy.She grabbed Ginny's free hand from under the table and squeezed it gentely.

Dinner went by uneventfully.There was a little small talk of how Draco and Ginny had met.Draco made up a big story about him being friends with Ginny's older brother.Ginny was surprised at how fast he could lie on his feet.All in all it was a good evening,until...

"Dinner was great,Ruby,but I must get going.It's my one night a week I get to actually sleep in."Draco said,standing up.

"Alright,Gin,why don't you walk him to his car?"Ruby offered.

"No,I walked.Needed to stop relying on my car so much."Draco told them.

"Oh,well then Ginny,you can just walk him home then.I'll wait up."Ruby said with a smile.Ginny opened her mouth to argue,but closed it right away,remembering Ruby could not be argued with.

"Great idea,"Draco replied,smirking."come on,Gin,we'd better get going."

"You two have fun."Ruby said with a wink.She gave Ginny a nice long kiss good-bye and then the two left.

Great,Ginny thought to herself.Just What I need,to be alone with Draco Malfoy.This was gonna' be hard.
