\"Good morning, Lialani!” Hermione said.

Lialani looked up and was surprised to see not only Hermione but Harry and Ron as well.

“Hi, guys,” Lialani answered.

“Where’s the baby?” Ron asked.

“Right here.”

“Is it a girl or boy?” Hermione was anxious to find out.

“It’s a girl. Her name is Aglaia,” Lialani uncovered the baby’s face and showed it to her friends.

Aglaia looked at them, her brilliant green eyes sparkling at them with great interest. She’s never seen this people before. Who are they?

“Lialani, why are her eyes green?” Harry was rattled. Her eyes were the exact same shade as his, but he couldn’t figure out why.

“Well, some genes in her father’s side skipped a couple generations,” Lialani replied.

“Lialani, I have all the work you missed today. I thought you might want to keep with everything,” Hermione stacked a few books on the bedside table.

“Oh, gee, thanks Hermione,” Lialani giggled as Ron rolled his eyes behind Hermione’s back.

“Ron rolled his eyes, didn’t he?” Hermione asked.

Lialani nodded, but a wail from ia lia let them all know that she was still there. Lialani immediately began rocking the girl, and she quieted down instantly. After a few minutes, her eyelids fluttered shut and her breathing became regular.

“She’s so cute!” Hermione said, being careful to keep her voice low so she didn’t wake the baby.

“Can someone get Madam Pomfrey?” Lialani asked, and then added, “I want her to take Aglaia so she can put her in her crib.”

Ron nodded and went off to get Poppy, muttering something like, “Don’t everyone jump to do it.” Harry and Hermione remained, ignoring him, watching the child sleep peacefully.

“Everyone’s going to think that it’s Harry’s kid,” Hermione voiced the thing that everyone had been thinking.

“Well, since no one will know who the real father is, I say let them think what they think,” Lialani replied.

“Why can’t anyone know who he really is?” Harry asked.

“He doesn’t want anyone to know who he is and I promised that I wouldn’t tell,” Lialani answered. “I don’t break promises.”

“Fine,” Harry sighed resignedly.

“Is she asleep?” Poppy asked, coming with Ron.

“Yes. Can you put her in the crib for me? I would do it my self, only, you know, I’m on bed rest for the next four days,” Lialani said. “I hate bed rest.”

“Well, if it was up to you, you would be out of bed and zipping around and would have collapsed from exhaustion by now,” Poppy retorted. ‘Why must everyone be so stubborn?’ she wondered.

“Well, as long as I’m not cut-off from the rest of the world I’m fine,” Lialani replied, leaning back into her pillows as soon as the baby was in Poppy’s arms.

“Your guests will have to leave in half an hour, Miss Turowsky, because Aglaia will have to be fed then,” Poppy said, cradling the baby in her arms.

“Okay, Madam Pomfrey,” Lialani answered, blowing a kiss to Aglaia.

“And Professor Snape will be checking on you at lunchtime,” she called as she walked away.

“Snape’s coming to see you?” Harry asked. “He never checks on anyone, not even Malfoy.”

“He has a heart, you know. Maybe he’s just worried because I did go into labor,” Lialani said. “Women and children have been known to die in labor.”

“But still. Maybe I’m just used to thinking of him as the greasy old git who cares about no one except for himself,” Harry sounded bitter now.

“Harry, don’t worry about it. He’s probably just coming to see if I’m still alive so he can continue to torture to me,” Lialani tried to straight the record straight.

“Wait, yeah, that’s probably it,” Hermione said.

Harry nodded, although his eyes betrayed that he was still suspicious.

“Harry, Ron, do you guys think that you could let me and Hermione talk alone for a minute?” Lialani asked.

Both boys nodded.

“Thanks. Just draw the curtains around the bed,” Lialani said, and smiled when the boys obeyed.

As soon as the curtains were closed, Hermione whipped out her wand and out up a silencing charm. She’s known the boys for five years and knew that they would probably try to listen in.

“Good thinking, Hermione,” Lialani said.

“No problem,” Hermione replied.

“Thank you for keeping your promise and not telling anyone who the father is. It would be pretty embarrassing for him and me if anyone else found out.”

“Lialani, I wouldn’t dream of telling anyone.”

“Thank you Hermione.”

“Um, for what?”

“For being such a good friend. But Harry’s going to figure it out eventually. He’s going to narrow everything down until he gets it.”

“Now, Lialani, don’t worry about it. If he does figure it out, just don’t let him tell anyone. And certainly don’t let him confront Snape about it.”

“That’s what I’m afraid of. Snape already signed the birth certificate and he’s the on who named Aglaia and he gave her his last name and I’m thinking that he intends on being a true father. Which is wonderful but it will really cause confusion if anyone finds out Aglaia’s last name.”

“Talk to him about it. This is one thing you’re not gonna figure out by talking to me.”

“I know. But I’m gonna feel pretty weird talking to Professor Snape about something like this.”

“There’s nothing you can do about it now.”

Lialani sighed. “You’re right.”

Hermione nodded. “Want me to let the boys in now?”

“Sure. That’s all I needed to talk to you about.”

Hermione lifted the silencing spell and ripped open the curtains. But instead of Ron and Harry, Severus was standing there. Fury was glinting in his eyes.

“Miss Turowsky, you have some explaining to do,” he hissed dangerously. “Miss Granger, leave.”

Hermione immediately walked to the door. She turned to wave, but the curtains were already drawn. She had a feeling that Snape would have put up a silencing charm and it would be much more powerful than hers so she resisted the urge to attempt to listen in. As she left the infirmary, the door closed softly behind her.

“Professor Snape, I wasn’t expecting you until lunchtime,” Lialani said nervously.

“I thought I would come early because the Headmaster invited me to lunch. And I happened to overhear a very interesting conversation,” Severus replied.

“Who are you to listen in on my conversation?” Lialani cried angrily.

“I have already warned you about your tone. Now remedy it.”

“Who are you to listen in on my conversation?” Lialani repeated, not changing a single thing.

“I am the father of our child, and it is not my fault that Miss Granger failed to put up a strong silencing charm. An accidental wave of my wand removed it. I listened out of curiosity.”

“You do not have the power to invade my rights to satisfy your curiosity. That power has yet to be given to you. I would appreciate it if you remembered that.”

“How dare you speak to me like that!”

Lialani immediately closed her mouth at this. She could tell that he was upset, and not just at her tone. He was upset because she had told someone that the kid was his and out of everyone to tell, she told Hermione Granger; the one student he hated. When she thought of this, she bristled.

“I told one of my dearest friends, one that I know will not reveal my secret,” she said hotly.

“I don’t care if you trust her or not. You told myself and the Headmaster that you wouldn’t tell anyone.”

“I thought that my friend needed to know. Not to mention that I need someone to talk to about all this.”

“Talk to me.”

“I can’t, Professor! Half of these things you wouldn’t understand seeing as you’re not a teenage girl!”

Severus was silent. He felt, for some reason, betrayed that Lialani would rather talk to Hermione than himself. But that feeling passed as Lialani continued to look up at him, furious fire burning a ring in her beautiful eyes. Suddenly, he thought of something.

“Lialani, calm down. I apologize for listening to your conversation. Just, please, calwn bwn before your powers kick in,” Severus pleaded.

Immediately the fire was extinguished. She gazed up at him, her eyes calm. Severus thanked the Gods that he had remembered her powers.

“Where’s my daughter?” he asked.

“Sleeping. But she needs to be fed now,” Lialani replied, and at that moment they heard Poppy’s voice.

“Open up, I’m coming in with Aglaia!” she called merrily.

With a wave of Severus’ wand, the curtains flew open. Poppy stared at him, startled; she had been expecting Harry, Ron, and Hermione but was presented with Severus.

“When did you get here. Severus?” she asked.

“A few minutes ago. I was just having a talk with Miss Turowsky,” he answered, stretching his arms out to take the baby.

However, Poppy stepped back, baby still cradled in her arms.

“No, Severus, she needs to be fed. And only Miss Turowsky can feed her,” she said.

“What? Why?” Severus asked, looking from one witch to the other.

“Because I’m breastfeeding her, Professor,” Lialani replied, looking at him as though he were stupid.

“Oh. In that case, I should be going,” Severus made a hasty exit, blowing a kiss to Aglaia as he shut the door.

“Did you see that, Madam Pomfrey? He blew a kiss to Aglaia,” Lialani said, astonished that he would be so openly affectionate with her.

“Miss Turowsky, the man has a heart and she is his daughter,’ Poppy replied, rolling her eyes at the girl’s surprise.

“I know, I just wasn’t expecting it,” Lialani said. “Too bad he isn’t open about everything else,” she muttered under her breath.

“What was that, child?” Poppy asked curiously as she settled the baby in Lialani’s arms.

“Oh, nothing,” Lialani replied quickly, pushing her top down to expose her nipple.

Aglaia rooted around for a minute, attached herself to her mother’s breast and began to suckle.

“Madam Pomfrey, do you think that you could close the curtains so nobody can see me?” Lialani asked after a few seconds.

“Of course,” Poppy answered and she shut the curtains, shutting herself out.

Lialani relaxed and began to enjoy the company of her day-old daughter. Downstairs, Severus was wishing he could do the same.

“I’m her father, I should be able to see her and visit her,” he muttered to himself. “That’s what I’ll do. I’m going to march right up there and see my daughter.”

But then he remembered something.

“Damn, she’s breastfeeding her. I’ll wait an hour.”

However, the Dark Lord did not see fit for this to happen. Severus clapped a hand to his left forearm, trying to waver the burning he felt.

Upstairs, Lialani screamed, startling Aglaia out of the sleep she had fallen into. Poppy quickly rushed to the bed, throwing aside the curtains, and scooped up the baby and rocked her, trying to quell the poor child’s wails.

“Miss Turowsky!” she cried.

“It burns, it burns,” she whimpered, beginning to frantically rub at her left forearm.

“What does?” Poppy asked, putting Aglaia in her crib and hurrying to Lialani’s side.

“My arm,” she gasped, never ceasing her rubbing.

“Let me see, dear,” Poppy said, grabbing her arm and pulling up the sleeve. “There’s nothing there, child!’

“But it burns!” she wailed.

“I don’t know why,” Poppy was bewildered.

Severus had no idea what was going on upstairs. He simply changed into his Death Eater robes and stuffed the mask inside his sleeve.

“Madam Pomfrey, can I have some ice?” Lialani asked, continuing her frantic rubbing.

“Yes, of course, dear,” Poppy replied and fetched a bag of ice. She wrapped it in a towel and placed it on Lialani’s arm. Almost instantly, Lialani breathed a sigh of relief.

“Thank you,” she breathed. “That feels much better.”

“Good,” Poppy said.

At that moment, Neville Longbottom burst in. His face was red and he was holding his arm at a funny angle. He was also limping.

“Mr. Longbottom, what have you done this time?” Poppy asked exasperated.

“I fell down the stairs at the end of Divination,” he choked out. “And then I tripped and feel down a flight of stairs.”

Neville spotted Lialani then.

“Oh, Lialani, you really did give birth. There were rumors going around since yesterday but I didn’t know I they were true or not,” Neville said.

“Weren’t you in Potions when it happened?” Lialani asked.

“No, I had been held back by McGonagall so I was late to Potions. When I did get there, there was nobody in the classroom. I passed by Seamus in the hallway and he said that it had been let out early cause you had gone into labor,” he replied.

“Oh. Well, now you know that I really did,” Lialani said.

“Girl or boy?” Neville asked excitedly.

“Girl. Her name is Aglaia,” Lialani answered.

“That’s a pretty name. Is it Latin or Greek?”

“Greek. It means ‘splendor or beauty’.”

“Oh. Can I see her?”

“Let Madam Pomfrey fix you up first. You’re probably in a lot of pain.”

Neville nodded and allowed himself to be led to the bed next to Lialani. She watched as Poppy set and fixed the bones in his arm. As she prodded his ankle, he let out a yelp of pain.

“Mr. Longbottom, you’ve gone and broken your ankle along with your arm,” Poppy said.

“Um, I’m sorry?” Neville replied, not trying to be funny. Lialani laughed anyway.

“Miss Turowsky, do not make me close your curtains,” Poppy snapped.

Lialani immediately stifled her giggles. A little ways off, Aglaia woke up and began to cry again. Poppy made to get her but Lialani stopped her.

“I’m sick of being an invalid. I’m getting her,” Lialani said and swung her feetthe the edge of the bed. She stood up, tottering slightly, but regained her balance and walked to Aglaia. Aglaia looked up at her mother, the wails stopped, and a smile broke out. She began to coo and wave her arms happily.

“Oh, sweetie pie, you’re so beautiful!” Lialani leaned down and gathered her into her arms.

Aglaia simply cooed back at her, her eyes that looked so much like Harry’s shining with interest and glee.

“Aglaia, Aglaia,” she sang softly, letting a few locks of hair fall down into Aglaia’s face. “Why are you so cute?”

Aglaia gurgled and kicked her little legs.

“Madam Pomfrey, can I get some medical tape? I want to tape this stupid ice pack to my arm. Either that or a cooling charm,” Lialani said. It fell off and she leaned down, still clutching Aglaia, and scooped it up.

“I’ll tape it. I prefer that no charms be placed on you yet,” Poppy replied, fishing a roll of tape out of the medical bag at her feet. “Come here.”

Lialani obliged, still carrying Aglaia. She turned so that her left forearm was facing Poppy and tried not to squirm as she taped the ice pack.

“There, all done,” Poppy said, patting her arm. “Remind me to change it in an hour.”

Lialani nodded and shuffled back to her bed. Aglaia seemed delighted as Lialani laid her down and settled her front of her.

“Madam Pomfrey, have you finished with my ankle?” Neville asked, wiggling with impatience. He wanted to see Aglaia.

“Yes, Mr. Longbottom, there you go,” Poppy replied and stood up.

Neville hopped up and hurried to Lialani’s bedside. Aglaia gazed up at him, her emerald eyes sparkling at him.

“Her eyes looked just like Harry’s,” Neville said.

Lialani flinched and nodded. Neville didn’t ask if Harry was the father, he considered that rude. Lialani was grateful for this.

“Mr. Longbottom, I suggest that you get to wherever you need to be right now,” Poppy said, packing up her medical bag.

“Yes, Madam Pomfrey,” Neville replied sadly. He gave Aglaia a kiss on the cheek and walked to the door. “Bye, Lialani!”

Lialani waved and he shut the door. However, it was opened back up again a minute later and Albus was revealed.
