With Choices Like These...
October quickly rushes in. I wake up as the sun creeps in through the window. It is a beautiful Saturday morning but I still feel like shit. There is nothing to do today but study and finish up the paper on the differences between transfiguring a human to animal and animal to human. After a few hours I cannot concentrate anymore. I play with Xavier for a few minutes but I cannot even get into that today. Maybe I should take a walk. On my way through the common room I catch Donnie, Jaye, and Travis playing wizard’s chess, well there own version of it. They have enchanted the pieces to perform sexual acts on each other instead of killing. I have to admit it is funny. After some exchanged words with them I take to the halls.
This place each year gets less and less confusing as I learn the lay out, even though I know there are many places I have yet to g fin find myself in the charms classroom. Hey, just last week I made a pineapple commit suicide by jumping off the table and splattering on the floor. It was only supposed to do the cha-cha. The portrait on the wall lets me know that it is almost noon so I decide to head to the Hall for some grub. I am passing by the corridor that leads to the Eaglefeather common room when I hear her voice. This time it is actually calling my name.
“Lee, wait up.” I hear Sheryl increasing her speed to catch me. I slow down allowing her to catch up with me. “We really need to talk.” She gives me that smile that I haeverever been able to say no to. I nod reluctantly. “But not here. Come with me.” She grabs my hand and leads me towards that classroom. The one on the third floor that doesn\'t get used anymore, the one I was supposed to meet her in. I stop just before we get to the room.
“Is this a setup?” I asked indignantly. “Are you trying to get me back?”
“Don\'t be silly, I just want some privacy. And as you know this the best place to get it around here.” She is unusually happy. We We enter the room and she closes the door as I hear her placing a silencing charm on the room. “There, that should do it.” We take seats facing each other and I wait for her to start.
“Ok, first I want to say, that I am sorry for avoiding you since…well, you know. But I needed time to think. I have been doing some soul searching and I realize now two things. I love you Lee. I want you more than anything right now.” I shift uncomfortably in my seat. It really makes me feel good to hear this, but at the same time I am not sure about it either. She continues. “But, I also realize that you love Sarah. I do not know how she feels about you, but she does care about you at least a little. I have fought hard with this one, but I think that you should go talk to her. I want you to find out if there is a future for the two of you. If there is, then I know that I would rather be your friend than nothing.” I see the tears in her eyes start to well up. But I do nothing. I don\'t know what to do.
“Is that all you have to tell me?” I ask blankly
“I see you are still upset about everything, and I expected that. Just please take my advice and see what happens. Then let me know, and please be my friend no matter what?” I give her a nod and then I leave.
What did she expect from me? I am still battling my feelings. I know I love Sarah, but I also have feelings for Sheryl. One isn\'t stronger than the other they are just different. I will figure this out soon. Maybe she was right. Maybe I should initiate a conversation with Sarah.
I finally make my way into the Hall and as luck would have it there is Sarah sitting alone at the Appleseed table. I have to do it now. I walk up and take a seat next to her. I hear some people make a few gasping noises and some rude remarks but I don\'t care right now. I wait to see her reaction.
“Aren\'t you at the wrong table.” She asks coldly.
“Well, oughought that maybe we could have a good conversation for once during a meal. Think of it as Smith extending a friendly hand.”
She looks at me with contempt. “I do not know what you intend on me saying. But I am a little busy getting ready for the first challenge, if you don\'t mind?”
“Ok, then lets just have a quick glib about us.”
“There is no us and it seems that there never will be. I opened up to you and then I realized your girlfriend was watching. Next thing I know we are back the way we were for the last few years.
“I am sorry.” Was all I could muster.
“Now I am busy right now and I think your house is getting a little annoyed at your presumption.” I look to see a few of my housemates giving me a look of shock and Craig giving me a death threat look. So I get up and leave.
It is now only two weeks away from the first challenge. November first we will gather to watch the champions try to bring honor and a trophy to their school. Once again as I am walking around Sheryl pulls me aside.
“So, still getting the cold shoulder?”
“Yeah, I think she hates me.”
“I am sorry Lee. Really I am. I know this may sound inappropriate right now. But I have wanted to tell you something for a while, but I wanted to wait for the appropriate time. It never came so I am just going to say it now.” She started to blush and then very hesitantly and with a shaky voice she managed to get it out. “Lee, no matter what happens between us, whether we never get back together, or end up married, I know one thing. I want you to be the one I lose my virginity too.”
It is at this point I feel my heart almost jump out of my chest and do the Macarena across the country. This was something I definitely wasn’t ready for. It was at that moment I actually noticed the covers and pillows rolled up in the corner. How long had she been planning this? I had no idea what I should do. I mean I found her very attractive, but I wanted Sarah also, but she did not want me. I too was a virgin. This would be my first. Then I knew what to do.
“Sheryl, I…”
