A/N--woooo two in one day. Look at me go haha. weeellll i wanna say THANKS to all of my great reveiwers, hope you all enjoy this!!
Chapter 8!
Draco awoke in the morning, after a long night of thought, he decided that Hermione was being terribly selfish. Sure her life is shit, but how could she possibly try and lay all the guilt onto Draco's shoulders.
He was angry.
He stormed across the bathroom and into her room.
His anger dissapated as he gazed down into her face.
She was sleeping...and she looked happy.
Maybe she was just angry at the entire world, and since Draco was always around it was way easier to just push all of it onto him.
As he looked at her, he realized that he couldn't be angry with her. She was suffering for Gods sake. She had endured more pain than half of Hogwarts put together.
He left her like that, promising himself to skip lunch and check up on her.
As he entered the Great Hall, he once again felt a peircing gaze rest on him. He knew who it was. And he didn't look.
He sat at his table and looked over at Blaise.
"You look like shit man." Blaise said over his cereal.
"Yea, I feel like shit too."
"The 'serious shit' catching up to you?" He asked cleverly.
"The 'serious shit' just got way more serious."
"You gunna tell me yet?" he ventured.
"No!" Draco said defiantly.
"Kay.." and Blaise left it there.
Draco threw him a look and stood up, walking slowly to his first class...Potions..with the Gryffindors.
He was the first one outside the door.
He stood waiting.
He heard footsteps approaching, and cringed when he heard the voice.
"I noticed that Hermione wasn't at breakfast this morning, where is she?"
"I don't know" Draco lied.
"How could you not?" Harry asked him.
"Because I don't follow her every move, and I don't ask her questions."
"Ohh.."
Ron just stood back, looking very awkward.
"Look Malfoy, there is still 10 minutes till class starts, do you think I could talk to you?" Harry ventured.
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because frankly, I don't care, nor want, to hear whatever it is you have to say."
"Its kind of important."
"I still don't care. Now go talk to your Weasel friend and get away from me."
Harry had the grace to look offended before he walked away muttering under his breath. "Stupid git."
Ron sniggered into his hand, and Harry reluctantly walked over to him.
He turned and looked at Malfoy.
"If you don't tell me whats going on, I will go find out for myself."
"Sure ya will." Draco said, rolling his eyes.
He honestly didn't care what Potter did right now.
That boy annoyed him to no end. It wasn't just the fact that he was the 'Boy-Who-Lived' He was just so damn irritating.
Draco turned towards the door, and waited. A couple minutes later Snape opened the door to start letting students in. As his eyes fell on Draco he took a sharp little intake of breath.
"I wasn't planning on seeing you today Draco!" He exclaimed.
"Why not?" Draco asked, raising his eyebrows. Slightly nodding in Harry and Ron's direction. Harry looked intrigued.
"Oh.." Snape said, catching the hint. He just turned around and walked back towards his desk.
Draco followed and sat in the back.
Harry followed Draco, Ron just went and sat down.
"Why is he surprised?" Harry asked.
"None of your damn business Potter, now get away from me."
"Does it have to do with Hermione?"
"Jesus, No! What would I possibly have to do with Her? Now go sit down and get out of my face."
Harry didn't move. He looked as though an idea had just popped into his head.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" Draco asked him, seeing the look on his face.
"Oh..uhm nothing." said a flustered Harry.
"Good, now go!"
Harry walked away.
Draco raised his hand, class hadn't even started yet. Snape was not shocked.
"Yes Draco?"
"Can I please go...?" He asked. Reddening in the face a little.
"You may."
Harry raised his hand.
"What Potter?"
"Can I go two?"
"No"
Harry looked absolutely crestfallen.
As Draco was passing Harry's desk he heard, "I know your secret."
Draco paused momentarily, shook his head, and continued walking.
******************
Draco was going to go back to his room, but he couldn't stand looking at Hermiones bruised face, and degraded body. Instead he holed himself up in an empty classroom.
'My secret? What secret?' He asked himself.
'Maybe that you like Hermione,' he fought back.
'How could he possibly know that?'
A door being thrown opened interupted his thoughts. Harry was standing before him, and old, folded up peice of parchment in one hand, the doorhandle in the other.
"We need to talk!" he said.
"Are you stalking me now Potter? I mean really, I know I'm sexy, but I don't swing that way."
"Hardly.. This is about Hermione. I need you to confirm something for me. I mean I've always had this suspicion, but I've never said anything about it to anyone. I couldn't just go making assumptions, because if I was completely wrong then I would look like a jerk. In your eyes I already am a jerk, so I don't really mind much."
Draco sighed, "What is it then?" 'I'll just get it over with, deny it, and then he will go away.
"Does Hermiones father beat her?" He was blunt about it. Draco was happy he was, better then beating around the bush all day.
"Not that I know of." Draco replied, instinctively reaching for his earlobe.
Harry knew he was lieing.
"Your lieing to me Malfoy, I can tell. Everytime you lie to someone you touch your ear."
"I do not!"
"Yes, you do."
"Do you honestly watch me that closely?"
"It's good to know your enemies well. Now tell me the truth. Be honest."
"Not that I know of" Draco said again, fighting the impulse to touch his ear.
"Well you can't do it now, you know I know you do that."
'Do I really touch my ear? How come I never even noticed.'
"Look Harry, I can't say shit about anything. I don't know Hermione that well. I haven't even really talked to her since the start of the year." Draco said....Dammit!!! Catching himself halfway to his ear.
"Liar. I am going to ask you one more time. I am her best friend Malfoy, I deserve to know."
"If your her best friend why didn't she tell you herself?" He instantly clapped his hand over his mouth.
"FUUUCCCK!!!!"
"I knew it!!!" Harry said. "Is she okay?"
Draco took a deep breath, thinking about the consequences.
"Look I'll let you see her, but you can't mention anything about me saying anything to you. Tell her you've known all along. But this was the first time she hasn't gone to class."
"I have known all along."
"Perfect....she's gunna be sooo pissed at me. Lets go then."
A/N-once again, i know this chapter was kinda..you know. But i had to show that Harry knew, and he wasn't going to stop persuing until he got to see her.
