A binging future
Chapter 8: A binding future
James Wallace sat his at his desk at five in the morning, writing his usual daily letters to his family, directing them as to what was expected of them. It was a daily ritual and he’d gladly give it up if he thought his family could deal without his guiding hands even for one measly day. He knew better though, if he were to leave them with no task to accomplish, then by the end of the day something disastrous would have unavoidably happened, and the Wallace family had a reputation to maintain. He hadn’t worked at keeping his family in line just for one slip to screw them up now. He’d spent his entire adult life trying to make a name for his family, and he wasn’t about to let it be plastered negatively through out the papers and gossip columns.
A snap of a thunder sparked inside of the room and James jumped turning from his seat wand pointed in the direction of the sound. He relaxed somewhat when he encountered Albus Dumbledore. “You could give an old man some sort of warning before trying to give him a heart attack.”
Albus laughed and nodded, “I’ll try to remember my manners next time dear friend and for the record your nearly twenty-years younger than I.”
James snorted, “Yes I know you remind me whenever I try to complain. So, what do I owe for the pleasure of this visit?”
“We’ve found her James, and I fear that I have been blind. She’s been under my nose for a great many years.” He sighed with regret.
“You…you…is she, I mean…hell I don’t know what I mean!” James sat down in shock.
“Hermione is taking the news in as best a way as can be expected. She’s a smart young women.”
“She still has the name she was given at birth?”
Albus nodded, “Just the first, she’d been raised as Hermione Jane Granger.”
“Granger, I don’t know any wizarding family with the surname Granger, but for some reason it sounds familiar.” James furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.
“She’s been raised in a muggle family and up until yesterday evening it was believed that she was a muggleborn. You may have heard her name slandered in the Daily Prophet a few years back, when Hogwarts was hosting the Triwizard Tournament.”
“She was mentioned with that Harry Potter boy, yes, yes now I remember. What‘s she like in school?” James asked wearily, afraid that the girl would be as unstable as her mother had been.
“She’s most probably the smartest witch to walk the corridors of Hogwarts in as many years as I’ve been alive. She’s amazingly studious and pigheaded. I believe I must say without regret that she is as stubborn as her great-grandfather.”
James sighed with relieve before dazing of into his past…
_____Once Upon A Time______
His back was to the window. The storm brewing outside was something of a climax for all those who resided in his office.
His wife Celia, their son Brian and his wife Kathleen were seated in the chair opposite of the one behind his desk. His granddaughter Bianca stood facing him, tears streaming down her face.
“Well, what is it?” He was getting antsy with them, he didn’t have the time for this little family get together. He had a lot of cleaning up to do if he still wanted Thaddeus Snape to continue on with the merger that Bianca and Thaddeus’ oldest Socrates would secure once they were married. Unfortunately the attack on his granddaughter was beginning to way heavily on those plans, and Thaddeus was threatening to sign with some French wizard family.
“I…I’m pregnant sir.” Bianca cried out. She hated terribly that their was a life growing inside of her. A life that she didn’t want, one that was put there against her will. She also knew that her grandfather would be furious that the merger they had planned on would be ‘null and void.’
James swore heatedly before responding. “Well you can’t get rid of it without word getting to the papers. Should your child be a girl Bianca, she will fulfill the terms of the merger with Thaddeus’ youngest son Severus. If it’s a boy, well…we’ll find some place for him.” Hell he knew he was now grasping at straws but he was almost sure that the Snape’s wanted this union as much as he did.
_____Some Odd Months Later_____
James stood with Thaddeus and finalized the newest contract. This one clearly stated that the newest addition to the Wallace family, Hermione Elizabeth would marry Severus Reynaldo Snape sometime in the month after the former turned eighteen.

James was now a happy man, there was still a way to save his family.
