Chapter Eight: Jealousy is as Jealousy Does
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alasdair stepped off the private jet into Chicago\'s O\'Hare International Airport, her face a mask of confusion. She\'d been the only one on the plane, and yet it had flown her here without a word from anyone. She was of the opinion that it was privately owned, noting that it had been decorated in shades of black and greens. Someone seemed to have a passion for serpents, as there had been a plethera of them decorating much of the plane.
She looked around, feeling nervous and not a little scared. Oh, and best to not forget stupidity. She really had no clue what she was doing here. When Remus had made his proposition, it had seemed like a good idea. She would get to see Severus in concert again, and perhaps he\'d take her to.... Well, it had seemed like a good idea at the time. Now she wasn\'t so sure. She felt like a complete idiot standing in the midst of a group of travellers on business or vacation, wearing a short skirt in the purest black and a bustier in blood red.
Al looked around, wondering if she was supposed to step out of the terminal to find Remus. He had said he\'d be there to pick her up. She had thankfully brought a light weight trench coat with, so she pulled it on over her clothing and started for the doors that would lead her out of the building. All the way, she kept telling herself she should be smart and sensible and get back on the plane and go home. She was such a fool for hoping.
She was on the verge of turning around and going back the way she came when she heard her name called. She looked up and saw Remus making his way toward her, a smile on his face at seeing her there. He was decked out in a form fitting tank top that molded to the muscles of his chest. His lower half was encased in soft leather, the pants tight against his legs and waist. Al found herself staring and mentally shook herself.
She smiled in return, stopping and allowing him to come to her. She was on the verge of getting lost in the crowd, despite the fact she was wearing a pair of high heels. \' I\'m so glad you made it. I apologize for being late to meet you, but I had a difficult time getting away from Severus.\'
\'He\'s going to kill you when he sees me, isn\'t he?\' she asked, her face showing concern. To which Remus chuckled.
\'Let me worry about Severus. I\'ve known him for a very long time, and I know he wouldn\'t do anything. I\'m not completely defenseless. Now, let\'s get you to the auditorium. I have the limo waiting outside,\' he motioned toward the door he had come in through. She nodded, knowing there was no going back now, and stepped forward.
Remus put a hand on Alasdair\'s back, helping to guide her forward. She was as nervous as any person he\'d ever met, and he had the distinct impression she wanted to bolt from him and go back home. He smiled at her head, actually looking forward to the night\'s main event. She was right. Severus was going to kill him for this.
~*~*~*~*~
Remus had made small talk in the limo, making her laugh with small anecdotes about he and Severus\' time at school. She found his easy chatter had served to drive away her case of nerves, and she was feeling completely relaxed when the limo came to a halt behind the auditorium. Before she could move, he was out and holding a hand for her to assist her out of the back of the long car. It was novel of her to meet someone who was so obviously trying to be a gentleman.
As they walked for the door leading them into the back of the concert hall, Remus reached into his back pocket and pulled out a laminated back stage pass. He handed it to Al wordlessly, watching as she slipped it over her head. She looked up at the night sky, noting that there was a sliver of the moon hanging in the sky. It still offered up bright white light, as if it were offering to purify her with it\'s ghostly luminesence. She tilted her head back, stopping in her tracks a moment to allow the light wash over her.
Remus felt her stop and did the same, turning to look back at her. He could see why Severus had singled her out of the crowd in the first place. There was a wholesome, earthy quality to the girl that you didn\'t find in the business he was in. While she was not a classic beauty, or anywhere near drop dead gorgeous, she was a very pretty woman. On more than one level. Remus suspected that it was that quality that had caught Severus in her net, even if she wasn\'t aware she had done so.
In the last few days since he\'d first joined up with Severus and the band, he\'d found that nearly all the women who tried to get invited backstage with the band had one thing in common. They were constantly trying to get into the bands\' pants. None of them seemed to give thought to the men, to actually wonder what they were like off the stage and outside of the bedroom. Their interests had lain completely with the shag they wanted.
He\'d spent a total of an hour in Alasdair\'s presence and knew for a fact that she was above that kind of petty, puerile behavior. She had a very real personality and a compassionate nature that was almost more enticing than her outward, physical appearance. Severus had, most likely on some subconscious level, seen that in her and been drawn to it. He\'d known so little of compassion in his younger days. It was likely that his repressed mental functions had come alive when he\'d discovered that about her. And it was the source of his internal struggle. The Death Eater that still resided in him was in conflict with what his brain told him he needed.
The guard at the door let them pass without a word, nodding to Remus as he walked past. Al was staring about her as if she had never seen the interior of a large arena like this. The faint cries of the anxious crowd could be heard all the way to the back of the auditorium where they were. Remus glanced at a clock on the wall and smiled. The band was just about to take the stage. He\'d timed it perfectly well.
\'Why did you do this?\' her voice startled him out of his musings. He glanced down at her and gave a sheepish grin. She was standing with her arms crossed over her chest, waiting patiently for him to answer her. He shrugged, then stuffed his hands into his pockets, only getting his fingers into them because the leather was so tight. \'We both know he\'ll be unhappy with you. He made it perfectly clear the last time I saw him that he wanted nothing further to do with me. And I know he is rather.... curt. So why would you risk his anger to bring me here?\'
\'Severus has been..... snarky,\' he told her, his voice soft in the silent corridor. \'For as long as I\'ve known him. Which has been for a very long time now. And most everyone in his company learns to deal with it in one fashion or another. But these last few days, he\'s been downright hateful. And I do not wish to see him this way. After he got drunk on a good portion of a bottle or two of strong brew, he told me all about you. I felt it was in his best interests if I tried to cheer him up. As it were.\'
\' I see. And if he doesn\'t want anything to do with me?\' she asked quietly. There was nothing on her face to show it, but he could tell she was very much afraid of just that thing. It appeared she had held out hopes that the stubborn git would come to his senses. Remus smiled at her, a gentle smile meant to make her feel better, then put his hands on her shoulders.
\' If that is the case, dear lady,\' he replied, his tone gentle. \'Then Severus is an even bigger fool than I ever imagined him to be. And I will personally take him to task for being such a slimy git.\' She laughed at the last, a truly happy sound that warmed him through and through. Much as Alasdair might be loathe to admit it, she had feelings for Snape. It made Remus that much more determined to see this plan through. Whether it got him killed or not.
~*~*~*~*~
Standing at the edge of the stage, Alasdair was taken back by what she was seeing. The stage seemed huge from where she stood, Remus along side of her. Deek sat on his throne, his feet moving in a blur as the sticks in his hands pounded out a throbbing rhythm on the drums before him. Jesse was keeping time, his bass matching the sensual beat the blonde drummer had set up. Fallon and Turlough were stalking back and forth across the stage, their guitars crying back and forth to one another like jungle cats searching for one another among the darkened trees.
Severus stood in the very center, the microphone grasped loosely in his hands. His mouth was very nearly touching the metallic web covering on the top as he breathed the words to one of the songs from their album. It was entitled \"The Serpent\'s Kiss\" and made Al think of deliciously wicked things whenever she heard it. Even as she stood there, watching him and listening to him as he very nearly had sex with the entire auditorium using nothing more than his voice, she could feel the answering throb of desire and need pulse low in her body. The man was positively lethal to her equilibrium.
The crowd itself was another matter altogether. Women in the front row were topless, throwing their under garments up onto the stage as if that were all the invitation they needed to give. Several men had done their best to imitate Severus\' style, from how he dressed to how he moved. There were still more women sitting on other people\'s shoulders, bare breasted and screaming. Signs with many different sayings, some from the songs themselves, were being waved all about the crowded arena. Al found it to be a completely different show standing where she was than it had been when she\'d been center stage.
She watched as Severus looked out at the crowd, his head swivelling from left to right. His hair swung, a soft curtain of black that had her fingers itching to run through the fall as she kissed him senseless. The thought brought a groan to her lips, which Remus some how heard over the dull roar of the pounding music and screaming fans. He leaned toward her to ask her if she was alright. At that same moment, Severus\' gaze locked on the two of them. She watched the scowl grow as it made a home for itself on his face. He didn\'t look pleased at all.
In fact, if Al wasn\'t mistaken, he looked downright pissed off at what he saw. She felt the faint bubble of happiness she\'d worked hard to keep under control burst at his look. She knew when she wasn\'t wanted. She turned to leave, but Remus out an arm out to stop her. She looked up at him, determined not to cry over someone who shouldn\'t mean anything to her. He smiled at her kindly and shook his head, then leaned down so that his lips touched her ear. \'You aren\'t running away, are you?\' his voice was loud in her ear, even over the din of the concert behind her.
\'You\'re damn right I am. He obviously doesn\'t want me here. I am not going to wait for him to come off stage and kick me out the door. I do have some dignity left,\' she managed to get out evenly. Remus chuckled at the words, glad to see she had a spirited attitude. She\'d need it when dealing with Snape.
\' I\'m afraid I cannot let you leave. I brought you here because he needs you. So here you will stay. At least until the end of the night. Then I\'ll make sure you get home,\' he told her, the arm that held her turning her to face the stage once more. \'Until then, I\'m afraid you are at my mercy. So you\'ll just have to suck it up and enjoy yourself.\'
\'You, dear sir, are a shit,\' she stuck her tongue out at him, then gave her attention back over to the show on the stage. Severus was currently gliding across the stage in that way only he seemed to have, his gaze locked on one of the women in the front. She was staring up at him in blatant lust. Al couldn\'t be certain from where she stood, but she thought he might be returning the look. This night was not turning out the way she thought it would.
~*~*~*~*~
Severus checked the side of the stage again, just to be certain his eyes weren\'t playing tricks on him. No, he was not seeing things. Remus Lupin stood at the edge of the stage, his hands on the very woman Severus was endeavoring to wrest from his brain. Alasdair seemed to be enjoying herself. In Lupin\'s company, naturally. The bastard had alot to answer for if he thought he could get away with this. As it stood, even though Severus was trying to forget Alasdair Maeve Wyndham, she was still technically his..... shag. So that meant hands off for Lupin.
Except, from where he stood, Alasdair didn\'t seem to mind his hands on her. Bugger all! He didn\'t know if he should hex Lupin for this, or thank him. It would give him the push needed to forget her for good. And yet, the idea somehow didn\'t want to sit with any ease upon his mind. It had, apparently, grown accustomed to having Al right where she was and wasn\'t about to let him get rid of her just yet. Traitorous organ. Nearly as bad as the one that resided in his trousers.
Every time he went to sleep, his cock revelled in the dreams his over-sexed brain dredged up. Alasdair was always the main attraction in them. He wasn\'t certain which was more frustrating. The fact that he kept having them, or the fact that he didn\'t seem to mind them as much as he used to. Nevermind the fact that he woke up so stiff every morning, he was sure that his cock would explode from all the blood pooled there.
He was tired of fighting the need he felt for her. He wasn\'t about to examine why he needed her, but he had at least accepted that Alasdair\'s memory wasn\'t going anywhere. He\'d tried everything he could think of, short of having Lupin Obliviate the memory from him. Nothing had worked. The scores of other women had only served to make him think more about Alasdair instead of less.
He turned his attention back to the crowd before him, using his voice and his eyes to work them to a fevered pitch. They screamed their response, telling him that they were enjoying themselves. And yet he couldn\'t seem to drive from his mind the image of Lupin\'s hands on Al, his mouth near her ear. As if the two of them were sharing an intimate caress or a teasing kiss.
His hands tightened on the mic he held, and he swore he could feel the metal casing crack under the pressure. He kept seeing Remus touch Al, his hands on her body as she smiled up at the furry bastard. She was his, and no one, not even Remus fucking Lupin would be touching her. He\'d kill the lycanthropic shite for ever touching her. He.....
Wait a bloody minute! What the hell was he getting all worked up for? He\'d told Alasdair he\'d not see her again, so what was he all worked up for? Because some part of him still considered Al his. Call it a masculine, neanderthal point of view, but it was true. There was a part of him that had decided that Alasdair belonged to him. But he was at a loss as to how to go about making her know that. He had essentially pushed her from his life.
He looked over again, saw Lupin lean down until his mouth was next to her ear. He wasn\'t sure what the bloody git was doing, but it brought a smile to Alasdair\'s face. Severus felt his teeth clench in anger, something he hadn\'t had call to do since leaving Hogwarts. He was going to be taking points soon, if he didn\'t watch himself. He had to come up with some way to bring Alasdair back to his side, of her own volition.
As his gaze raked the crowd, he saw a chesty blonde in the front. Her gaze was riveted to him. Or, more specifically, his crotch. By no means sublte, but it got the point across. She was willing to offer herself to the Dark God of rock. He let his eyes linger, studying her at length. She would be a worthy sacrifice to the cause. A feral grin spread his lips, and he threw himself back into the concert. His plan of action would soon be in full swing.
~*~*~*~*~
The band stepped off then got back onto the stage before the final encore. Each time Severus passed Alasdair, he ignored her as if he didn\'t know she were there. Al managed to hide her disappointment behind a forced smile, but no one noticed. No one, that is, except Remus. He could feel the defeat rolling off her. He heaved a sigh, knowing that he would have to help her gain his attentions. Severus was going to really kill him after this.
The band took their positions once more, preparing for the encore. The first words were breathed into the mic, followed by the thrum of the bass guitar. Al knew the song and felt a blush rise to her cheeks as she realized that he meant some of the words for her.
\"I\'m drunk. And right now, I\'m so in love with you.
And I don\'t want to think too much about what we should or shouldn\'t do.
Lay my hands on Heaven and the sun and the moon and the stars
While the Devil wants to fuck me in the back of his car.
Nothing quite like the feel of something new.
Maybe I\'m all messed up. Maybe I\'m all messed up. Maybe I\'m all messed up in you.
Maybe I\'m all messed up. Maybe I\'m all messed up. Maybe I\'m all messed up.
Maybe I\'m all messed up in you. Maybe I\'m all messed up.
This is the only time I really feel alive. This is the only time I really feel alive.
I swear. I just found everything I need.
The sweat in your eyes and the blood your in viens are listening to me.
Well, I wanna wrap it up and swim in it and until I drown.
My moral standing is lying down.
Nothing quite like the feel of something new.
Maybe I\'m all messed up. Maybe I\'m all messed up. Maybe I\'m all messed up in you.
Maybe I\'m all messed up. Maybe I\'m all messed up. Maybe I\'m all messed up.
Maybe I\'m all messed up in you. Maybe I\'m all messed up.
This is the only time I really feel alive. This is the only time I really feel alive.
Maybe I\'m all messed up in you.
This is the only time I really feel alive. This is the only time I really feel alive.
This is the only time I really feel alive. This is the only time I really feel alive.\"
Al felt as if he\'d just punched her. It wasn\'t as if he meant the words he sang. It was a way to tell her that he didn\'t need her. A way to make her feel like shit. And it worked. She never should have come here tonight. It was obvious he didn\'t really miss her, if the way he was staring the blonde in the front row was anything to go by. It looked as if Remus had been wrong about his emotional state. She turned and went back down the hall they way they had come, ready to find the limo and go back to the airport that very minute.
~*~*~*~*~
Alasdiar was glaring at him, her eyes full of anger and betrayal. Severus thought his plan had worked well enough. He\'d brought the chesty blonde from the front row back to the dressing room with him, his intent being to make Alasdair mad with jealousy. Unfortunately, he wasn\'t adept at forming a relationship, so he wasn\'t sure if his plan were succeeding or not. He had thought she\'d have come to him by now, verbally and physically declaring that she would be the one who\'d be shagging him that night. She hadn\'t done anything of the kind.
In fact, she was standing against the far wall, glaring at the room as if it had somehow offended her. Remus stepped over to her, a glass of something in each of his hands. He pressed one of the glasses into one of her small hands and grinned at her. Severus rather thought it was in a wolfish manner, which meant only one thing to him. He grit his teeth and turned to the blonde with him, putting the two of them from his mind for the moment.
Remus watched Alasdair for a moment as she watched Severus, then sighed. The man was going to lose the woman if he wasn\'t careful. He leaned down and whispered in her ear, despite the fact that there was so much noise he doubted anyone would hear him. \' I can help you, if you like.\'
\' I\'m sorry?\' she looked up at him. Remus smiled down at Al, then nodded his head in Severus\' direction.
\'With the git. I can help you win him back,\' he told her confidently. She stared up at him a moment. The silence prompted him to go on. \'Perhaps he needs to be prodded into realizing that he doesn\'t wish to lose you.\'
\'And how would we accomplish that?\' she questioned, her gaze straying back to where Severus stood with the blonde.
\'Simple. You can use me to make him jealous,\' was the reply. Al looked up at Remus, not quite believing what she was hearing. She liked Remus alot, even though she knew very little about him. Oh, he was handsome in his own way. But she wasn\'t attracted to him like she was to Severus. He was, to her, cute. In a puppy dog sort of way. When he nodded, she looked back to Severus once more.
His attention was presently given to the woman at his side, his mouth steadily pressing hers. She felt her lips press against themselves. It was the only incentive she needed. She returned her eyes to Remus and nodded. \'Right. Let\'s give this a go.\'
\'As you wish,\' he grinned at her, then leaned closer to her. She felt his hand slowly work it\'s way up her bare arm, his fingers trailing along the skin in what could only be called a sensual manner. It sent a chill down her spine, and she felt goose flesh rise along the path his hand was taking. She shuddered at the contact.
Remus angled his body closer to hers, pressing against her. Al had to admit there was no fat on the man. He was a little leaner than even Severus, and that one was pretty lean. But Remus was all hard planes. It felt as if one of those hard planes was prodding her in the back. She didn\'t want to think about that any more than necessary, so it was good that she was jarred back to reality by the feel of his lips on her shoulder.
One of his hands skimmed up her back, lifting her hair as it moved up toward her neck. When he had the silken locks lifted up out of his way, his mouth worked up along her shoulder blade to the exposed column of her throat. The tip of his tongue slid up the heated skin, leaving a trail of moisture that had her running hot and cold at the same time. Without her consent, her eyelids drifted down. She tilted her head to the side, allowing him more access. The rest of her body relaxed back into him, all her weight resting against his thin frame.
His body was hot. The heat it gave off seared her through the clothes she wore. Al was confused, not quite certain why his attentions were producing such an effect. He was making her ache with need, even though this was only supposed to be a show to make Severus jealous. She wasn\'t sure how he was taking it, but she could feel how she was. Her nipples were peaked in the confines of the bustier. The lacy thongs she\'d put on were soaked through at the crotch. She wasn\'t sure, but she thought she might want Remus.
The realization that she could very easily fall into bed with Remus Lupin had her groaning in frustration. The sound brought the attention of the entire room to them. Remus watched through the fall of his hair as Severus\' black gaze locked on the two of them. By this time, Remus had one arm around Al\'s body, his hand resting just under the curve of one of her breasts. His other hand had slipped down to lay along the length of her thigh, his fingers tracing patterns over the soft flesh beneath them.
If the look of pure hate Severus was giving them was anything to go by, he was completely pissed off. Things were working out better than Remus had hoped. Now the only thing he felt he needed to worry about was how badly he was going to get hexed when it was all said and done. Putting that from his mind, he bent to his task. Very gently, careful not to break the skin, he nibbled and bit at the flesh she had offered to him. A groan escaped her throat once more.
Remus swore he could hear Severus\' teeth grinding from where he stood.
The spell was broken for Al when a voice piped in loudly. \'Come on, man. If you\'re going to give us a show, go for it. Let\'s see the whole thing!\' She pulled away from Remus, trying not to let her blush rise to the surface. The last thing she needed any of them to see was her deal with a case of embarrassment. She looked at the five men on the other side of the room. Each one had a woman, and nearly all of them were eyeing her with something like envy. The only one who wore a different expression was Severus. He was scowling at the two of them as if they had just commited a mortal sin.
\' I think I need to go for a walk,\' Remus told them, then slipped her arm through his. He nodded to the group as a whole, then lead her out of the room. A burst of chatter broke out as the door shut behind them, and Remus decided it was a good thing that Al couldn\'t hear what was being said. She\'d have turned bright red, had she known what was being said about her at the present moment. He also caught a brief snippet of Severus\' dark voice. A smile spread over Remus\' face to know that the man was so flustered.
\'Are you sure this will work?\' Al asked when she thought they were far enough from the dressing room to not be overheard. Remus chuckled, bringing her worried gaze up to his. He smiled down at her as he lead her through the maze of hallways to the exit. Somewhere far behind him, he heard a door slam.
\' I\'m positive this is going to work, Alasdair. Severus has got his knickers in a twist, I\'d wager. If he doesn\'t storm after us sometime soon, I\'ll eat these fabulous leather trousers I got myself,\' he gestured to the soft material encasing his long legs. She smiled at his words.
\' I suppose you know him better than I do,\' she sighed. \' I\'ll just have to take your word for it.\' He said nothing, merely continued to lead her to the exit. He could hear faint footsteps behind them, telling him that someone was coming up the same hall. He listened carefully to the tread and smiled. Severus was leaving the arena. Oh, this was going to prove delicious.
They stepped out into the humid night air. A storm was brewing. If Remus had his way, there\'d be more than one storm tonight. He lifted his head, making a show of looking at the night sky above them while casually scenting the air. The clouds were heavy and oppresive, a tell-tale sign that a storm was about to break. Almost as if the Mother Nature knew his thoughts, he heard thunder roll somewhere. The smell of the night changed, then the rain came.
Remus slipped his arm around Alasdair\'s shoulder, pulling her closer to him as he began walking away from the backstage door. She remained silent, and he was certain that she was lost in thought. He\'d been shocked to find that she\'d responded to his caresses. His body was tight with need, but it was nothing he wasn\'t used to. For the most part, he stayed away from women. He just didn\'t think he could trust himself beyond a little bit of kissing. So his reaction to Al hadn\'t been all that shocking to him.
The fact that she had acted as if she were enjoying his touch had thrown him for a loop. He had seen the way she\'d looked at Severus, and he was fairly certain that she was indeed smitten with the surly Potions Master. So her response to him was something of a mystery. He\'d like to think she was reacting that way because she found him stimulating, but he didn\'t think that was it. Whatever had prompted her behavior had only served to work in their favor.
He\'d seen that Severus was practically ready to draw his wand and hex the both of them off the face of the planet. It was a postitive thing, as far as Remus was concerned. It showed that the greasy git felt something toward the girl. Making the man realize this for himself would take a miracle that Remus didn\'t think they\'d get. But at least this was a start.
He kept walking, taking Al along with him. His ears picked up the sound of the back door slamming shut. Another crack of thunder announced the opening of the heavens. What had started out as a refreshing shower quickly became a near torrential downpour. Their hair was plastered to their heads in only a few moments. Remus took her hand and pulled her along behind him, dashing over to stand under an overhang where they would be out of the rain.
\'We have one last opportunity, Alasdair. Severus is on his way back to the hotel and the limo will pass this way. If you\'re up to it, we can put on a bloody good show for him,\' Remus told her, shoving his hair back off his face with both hands. She looked up at him, and he could see the need to ask how he knew that. He smiled at her. \'Can you handle one more round of acting?\'
\' I think so,\' she nodded, though he could hear the uncertainty in her voice. He gave her an encouraging smile, then drew her body next to his. She was startled when he turned her to the wall, pressing her back against it with his long form. The hard plane was now poking her in the belly. His hands reached down, cupped the cheeks of her ass and lifted her up until her face was level with his. The precarious perch gave her no choice but to put her arms and legs around him.
Just as she heard the sound of an approaching engine, he molded himself to her and brought his lips down to hers. Her eyelids fell as his tongue touched the seam of her lips. Her mouth opened to his, allowing the hot muscle to probe it\'s interior. His hips pressed forward, grinding his obvious erection into the soft flesh nestled between her thighs. She felt something hot surge through her, bringing a whimper to her throat. Remus swallowed it as he kissed her.
Severus halted the limo to stare at the scene before him through the opened window. Remus fucking Lupin had Alasdair Maeve Wyndham pressed against a wall, his mouth locked on hers as if it were a life line. Her arms and legs were wrapped around him tightly. If he wasn\'t mistaken, the two of them were twat to cock. The bastard had alot to answer for. Right after he took Alasdair\'s bloody head off for even thinking she had the option of getting personal with Lupin. She was still bloody his.
He watched at the pair broke apart. They were both breathing heavily. He couldn\'t see Remus\' face, but Al\'s had a look of such utter contentment that Severus found his fingers curled into the leather of the seat beneath him, on the verge of breaking through the material as if it were tissue. Her eyes fluttered open, and she looked up at Lupin. Her gaze was unfocused, her cheeks flushed. He heard remus speak over the rain. \'Let\'s go back to my hotel room and finish what we\'ve started.\'
Al merely nodded at the man in front of her. Severus grit his teeth, then rolled up the window and barked an order to the driver to take him to the hotel. The car lurched forward, Severus\' mind a whirl with the scenerio that awaited the couple when they got to Lupin\'s room. It was enough to have him reaching for the minibar for a stiff drink.
~*~*~*~*~
The laughter was what did it. Remus\' room was right next to Severus\'. And he\'d been sitting in his room, listening like a voyeur to the sounds coming from the room next to him. He\'d managed to keep his seat for half an hour, through a variety of different sounds. But it was her laughter that drove him from the chair. If he wasn\'t the one to make her laugh...... Bloody hell! Lupin was a nuisance. Severus should have killed the man the moment he\'d seen him in his dressing room a week ago. This was the last straw. He stormed from his room, slamming his door open with enough force to rattle the pictures on the wall.
The door to Lupin\'s room gave way easily under his violent temper, and he stepped into the room in with the same manner that an archangel would use when confronting one of the minions of hell.
