Chapter Seven

Two nights later…

Hermione was sitting quietly in the pub waiting for her date to arrive, when who should come over, but Ron. He stood there for a time just staring at her for a few seconds before saying, “Uh, I need to tell you something. I, uh, well that is that I…”

“I spoke to Luna yesterday,” she murmured, leaning back in her chair. “She was heading to her floo connection to South America to meet up with her fiancée Rolf.”

Ron went a bit green at her words. “Oh. So you know.”

“Actually I found out the day before when I went to visit Ginny. After she was finished jumping for joy over her pregnancy, she told me what Harry, Luna, and you did and why you had those parties.” Shaking her head, she muttered, “I haven’t a clue what you must have been thinking, Ronald. You’re one of my best friends, but that’s all you’ll ever be.” Standing up, she picked up her purse. Going over to him, she kissed his cheek and said with a grin, “I’ll see you at Ginny’s birthday party.”

Ron watched as she walked over to Blaise Zabini, who automatically opened his arms to her. The two hugged, standing ever so close together as they spoke in very soft voices. Hermione’s face flushed with a happiness Ron had never seen on her features before.

“It would seem our charge has found her own mate,” Severus said from behind Ron.

“So it would seem,” Lucius replied. “Does this mean that we did what we set out to do?”

“Sadly, no,” Severus told him even as the two men came along side of the youngest Weasley male. “But it doesn’t mean we can’t help her out by getting this one his witch of his dreams.”

            “A Weasley,” Lucius sighed. “Must…”

“I can find my own witch!” Ron exclaimed, and left the pub in a huff.

“It was for the best,” Severus told him. “I do believe that we would both hex the boy before we’d find him any witch that would put up with him for more than five minutes.”

“He isn’t that bad,” Charlie said as he joined them.

            “Mr. Weasley,” Lucius said tightly.

“Father,” Draco said as he joined them as well. “We were having a last drink before I was going to see him off to his portkey to Romania.”

“And how is your courtship going with Miss Greengrass?”

Charlie barely held back a snort of laughter, as Draco said rather dryly, “As well as can be expected, considering she just married Pansy Parkinson.”

Lucius looked like he was about to explode when Draco said, “She and I signed a contract. She’ll mother my child and Charlie here would donate his sperm to them so that Pansy may carry their own children—of which I was told they both want many.”

“Children out of wedlock!” Lucius exclaimed. “I will not have…” And that’s when Draco lifted his own hand to reveal his new wedding ring.

“Charlie and I got married yesterday,” he told him. “I’ll be leaving to join him in Romania next week. My recommendation is to get over your difficulties as quickly as possible, because if you don’t, you’ll never see your very legitimate grandchildren.”

“This is unheard of!” Lucius yelled.

“Welcome to the Twenty-first century,” Severus told him. “We’ll see you tomorrow, Draco. Your father needs to yell for a time.” Grabbing Lucius’s arm. “And since I figure to give him a reason to do just that, we’ll be busy for some time.” Yanking the blond aristocrat out of the pub, they left the two younger wizards there laughing at what had just happened.

“I told you it would work,” Charlie murmured.

Off to the side, Hermione was still in the arms of Blaise never taking note of what happened between her friends.

“Ready to go to Milan?” he murmured. “I know of this lovely place to eat.”

            “Just eat?” she asked, teasingly.

“You know me so well, bella,” he replied, walking her out of the pub. “It’s one of my family’s estates. We’ll have a brilliant weekend there.”

Smiling the two walked out of the pub hand in hand.

The end

***

Here we are at the end of our journey. Thank you to everyone that took the time to review. I may not have responded, but rest assured I did read every single one.

It's time for the Review Sing-Along! The answer to the last one was "Shipwrecked" by Shane Alexander. A big batch of homemade cookies goes out to Chris7100 (Sorry, I hadn't clue one who or even what song yours was. I am hanging my head in shame). Thanks for those few that played. And just to let you know, you didn't have to play in order to review. It was something I made up in order to have just a bit of fun. Thanks again and have a great weekend everyone!
