Challenge in this chapter Voldermort Wins, Family Visit, Snow
Hermione Snape was in her room knitting like mad trying to finish her Christmas stockings. The witch had recently become ill with the flu making her dreadfully behind. She missed the birthday parties and Halloween and she felt awful about it. Ginny assured her that the Weaslyes understood and not to feel guilty about it. It would be Charlie’s birthday soon and she still had the Christmas cards to finish. Thankfully she had already bought her Christmas gifts in advance relieving the pressure to some extent. The snow was beginning to fall giving the streets the feel of Christmas.
The only thing that could spoil it would be the approaching family visit by Dr Jean Granger and Dr Jonathan Granger. She loved her parents but the relationship was strained between them especially between her father and her husband. Neither Hermione nor Severus asked permission or invited them to the wedding, they were informed after. Jonathan Granger was especially insulted because Severus did not ask him for Hermione’s hand. Jean Granger was hurt but eventually forgave them and gave them her blessing. However Hermione’s father was never able to forgive, or accept them or give his blessing to their union.
Hermione did not know how her mother pulled off the miracle getting her father to come nor did she care. What was important was there was a chance to make it right. She was willing to do anything with the exception of giving Severus up to make things better. When She arrived in the kitchen to start dinner she saw her husband already there. Severus was staring out the window with a dark expression on his face. Hermione went to him and put a hand on his shoulder.
“I am sorry my darling wife for causing such trouble…”
He began
”What rubbish! This is as much my fault as yours. I did not tell you how traditional my father was. I am sorry for hurting him but I do not regret becoming your wife for one moment”
He smiled a small smile kissed her hand and said “ I must go do not wait up for me.”
Leaving a confused wife behind him. Hermione did not hear from him again till after she had gone to bed. He joined her with a satisfied look on his face. Hermione unable to contain her curiosity asked,”where did you go my love?”
He snuggles closer to her and said “Making sure you have a happy Christmas”
“How did you manage that?” asked his curious wild- haired wife.
“By asking your father’s permission for us to wed”
“Darling we are already married”
“In the wizarding way not the Lutheran way”
Hermione was stunned by this.
“Severus what exactly are you saying?"
Severus pulled his wand from under the pillow and conjured a beautiful diamond ring with a simple gold band
“Hermione Jean Granger would you do the honor of marrying me…again?”
“Yes my love I will”
