Telling the friends

Just an A?
Disclaimer: Need I say it again?
Warning: Uh… How about… More ranting from Ron?

“A study group?” Draco asked, surprised. “You told Professor Hagrid we were in a study group together?”

Harry leaned back against the tree, closing his eyes. “He asked and I couldn’t not tell him.”

“With Granger and Weasley? Harry I don’t know…”

“If I didn’t include them he wouldn’t believe it. Me and Ron get help from Hermonie, she knows every thing.”

“She is rather smart for a Mud-“

“Don’t you dare.” Harry’s eyes snapped open to glare at Draco. “If we’re friends you can’t call my other friends names.”

Draco was nice enough to look shame faced about it. “Sorry, Harry. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to stop. Especially Weasley, he’s so easy.”

“That doesn’t matter. If you can’t be nice to them, or at least not mean, I can’t be your friend.” Harry closed his eyes again.

“Why not?” Draco was honestly curious.

“Because, I will not be friends with some one who hurts my friends.” Harry looked at him to find a confused look on Draco’s face. “I love my friends. You don’t want any harm to come to those you love. Especially by others you love.”

Draco slowly nodded. “I think I get it… could you give me an example?”

Harry smiled, he liked this nicer questioning side of Draco. “Sure. Let’s see. If you were really my friend and… for instance… Crab and Goyle said really mean things to me, what would you do? If no one else was around?”

“Punish them.” Draco said, like it was an every day thing to punish someone.

“Alright, but why?” Harry prodded.

“Because… they- that would- you are-“ A look of understanding came over Draco’s face. “Because you’re my friend and they would be hurting you.”

“See,” Harry smiled at him. “,you get it now. It’s just like that for me with you and Hermionie and Ron.”

“Oh.” Draco looked thoughtful. “I won’t promise any thing, but I’ll try really hard to be nice to them. For you.”

“Thanks.” Harry stood and held out his hand. “Let’s go see how the group handles the news.”

Draco accepted the hand without even thinking about it, this time he was the one who held on. “Yes, let’s.”

“WHAT!!!???” Ron screamed. “We have to study with HIM!?!” Ron pointed at Draco. “Fine if you want to be friends, that’s up to you. Why are you dragging us into it?”

“Ron, be nice.” Hermonie warned.

“And why are you wearing THAT!” Ron threw a finger at Harry’s outfit.

Harry looked down at himself. “What? I like it.”

Hermonie smiled. “I think Harry looks nice.”

Draco sneered at Ron. “You’re just jealous, Weasley.”

“JEALOUS?!?” Ron turned red in the face. “Why would I be jealous of Harry?”

Draco looked at his nails. “Because he looks better than you ever could.” Harry blushed.

“WHAT!?!?!” Ron’s face began to turn purple.

Draco smirked. “You don’t agree?”

Ron looked flustered. “I, erm, uh…”

Draco smiled, more kindly this time. “I’ll make you a deal, Weasley. You be nice to me, I’ll be nice to you.” He offered his hand.

Ron looked like he was going to argue, then Hermonie cleared her throat. “Fine.” Draco wiggled his fingers to remind the other boy his hand was there. Ron reluctantly shook with him. Harry smiled, pleased.

“I can tell this is going to be fun.” Draco looked at Harry.

Ron’s response was, “Oh, yeah, loads of fun.” Hermonie elbowed him. “What?” He asked.

They all laughed.
