A/N: Ok... I took a day off from writing and then I
re-wrote this paboutbout three times and I'm still not happy with certain parts
of it. I want to convey the fact that
Jordan is starting to make friends within the Order, which will be important in
a later chapter. But don't go thinking
she's making the moves on Remus, they're just friends.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> LOL
And I added a bit of humor to this part.
AJRoald: Thanks for the review and all the great
e-mails. It was hard to keep Snape in
character and try to show a more tender side of him. Thanks for thinking I did a good job!
Sparrow's Chick: Smut is a relatively new term
and thing to me too. LOLstyle="mso-spacerun: yes"> As for them taking it slow... the first kiss
happened on Christmas and at the beginning of the last chapter, it was the beginning
of Spring. I thought that was enough
time for them to wait. LOL
Snape's Secret: Glad you liked the smut!style="mso-spacerun: yes"> I really like the way their relationship is
heading also. It just feels right.
font-family:Verdana'>Yabo: LOL@smut virginity. Thanks for the review and yes, I suppose I am naughty and dirty
now... LOL
Chapter Six
Unexpected Visitors
It was the crashing sound in the hallway that brought
Remus out of his room that day.
"Tonks?" he said as he stuck his head out the door.
"No. Just
me," said Jordan as she waved up from where she had fallen.style="mso-span: yn: yes"> Remus looked at her and then looked at all
the boxes laying around her.
"Here," he said as he offered his hand to
her. Jordan smiled and took it as he
pulled her to her feet.
"Moving?" he asked as she bru off off her pants.
"No," said Jordan as she shook her head,
"Just more boxes for my dad's stuff.
I'm almost done with the house."
"I'm glad to hear that," said Remus as he gave
her a small smile, "It can't be easy packing up his stuff."
"Eh," she said as she shrugged her shoulders,
"It's not that bad. I'm finding a
lot of stuff that I thought I'd never see again. I guess after my mother died, my dad went back to the house and took
our things back with him. Anyway, I'm
sure everyone will be glad once I'm finished.
That way you lot won't have to come and babysit me while I'm
there."
"It's not babysitting," said Remus as he let out
a small laugh, "We just think it'll be safer if you didn't go alone."
"Babysitting... protecting... same difference.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> And now I think poor Charlie Weasley hates
me," said Jo as as her lips curled up into a smile.
"Do I even want to know?" asked Remus as he
picked up the boxes she'd dropped.
Jordan grinat hat him and shook her head.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> "I mistook him for a an intruder and
almost killed him. I'm sure Molly's
going to go off on that tonight at the meeting."
"She'll be ok," assured Remus.
Jordan smiled at him and opened her bedroom door.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> She never thought in a million years that
her and Remus would forge a friendship.
When she had arrived at the house, she rarely saw him because he had
locked himself in his room as he mourned his friend's death.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> But now he'd come out of his shell and it
felt like she'd known him her entire life.
<
"Books," she suddenly said, "I have some
books for you."
"Oh?" que questioned as she lugged a box off the
floor.
"Yea. They
were in my father's library and I've read most of them so I thought you'd want
them," she said as she handed him the box.
font-family:Verdana'>
"Sure," she said as sriedried to prevent a yawn,
"When's the meeting again?"
"In about ten minutes," said Remus as he shifted
the box in his arms.
"Ugh," she muttered. She was hoping for a quick nap because she was beyond tired.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Between cleaning her father's house, meetings
with the Order and late night rendezvous at Hogwarts, she wasn't sleeping much.
"Maybe the meeting won't last long," offered
Remus as he watched her rub her eyes with balled fists.
"I hope not," said Jordan as she looked over at
him, "Nothing against Dumbledore but his voice puts me to sleep."
"You aren't the only one," came a voice from the
doorway, "I'm always dozing off when he's speaking."
Remus and Jordan turned to see Tonks standing there.style="mso-spacerun: yesJordan smirked at her green hair as she
stepped forward. >&qu>"Guess we should
get this over with," she muttered.
"Oh," said Tonks, "It's your turn to take
notes."
na'>
"No it's not," said Jordan as she shook her
head. Tonks nodded hers in return.
"It is," she said.
"Fine," said Jordan as she rolled her eyes.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> She stepped out of her room and followed
Remus down the steps. They were almost
to the bottom when Tonks tripped and knocked Jordan forward.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Before she could grab onto anything, Jordan
fell forward and landed on the bottom step.
"It's fineot; ot; said Jordan as she stood up and
looked at the rug burns her palms, "Just rug burns."style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Tonks giggled.
"Too bad it didn't happen the other morning,"
mused Tonks, "Would have matched the rope burns you had on your
wrists!"
<
Jordan's mouth slowly dropped open as she looked over at
Tonks. "Er..." said Jordan as she
blushed.
Tonks rolled her eyes.
"Whatever makes you happy Jordan," she said as she went toward
the kitchen. Jordan cleared her throat
and followed her in.
They, along with Molly and Remus, were the only ones
there. Jordan took her usually seat
between Remus and Tonks and started to doodle on the parchment in front of
her. She despised taking notes.
"Would anyone like a spot of tea or a biscuit?"
asked Molly as she eyed the three of them.
They all shook their heads as four pops sounded from the
living room.
Dumbledore, and Arthur all walked in.
Tonks cleared her throat, which made Jordan turn toward her.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> "Ok there Nymphadora?"
snorted Jordan.
Tonks raised her eyebrows and looked at Jordan.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> "I'm fine," she said as a fit of
giggles racked her body.
Jordan lowered her head to stop from laughing.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> She hated that she found the slightest
things funny when she was tired since it often got her in trouble.s="ms="mso-spacerun: yes"> But it also felt good to be able to laugh,
considering how things were going.
"Hey Remus," whispered Jordan as she turned to
him, "I want to get my father's study done tonight.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Will you come with me?style="mso-spacerun: yes"> I don't think Charlie wants to come with
anymore."
Remus raised his eyes and looked over at Charlie, who
looked a little white in the face.
"Sure," he said as Dumbledore walked up to the table.
"I see that all of us are here.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Kingsley and Moody won't be able to make it
tonight," he said as he sat at the head chair, "Now on to
business..."
Jordan picked up her quill and started to take notes.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> She scribbled as fast as she could but it was
hard to keep up. Her eyes kept
fluttering shut and she started to wish she were in bed, especially the bed of
a certain potions master.
She smiled to herself as she lifted her eyes off the
parchment. She looked over at Snape,
who had his eyes on Dumbledore. Her
heart started to beat faster as she thought of all the naughty things they did
with and to each other within the walls of Hogwarts. But it also started to beat faster because of the love she felt
for him.
Love. If
someone would had told her that someday she'd be in love with him, she wouldn't
had believed them. But she
she
was. And she often wondered if he felt
the same way. She hadn't dared to speak
the words to him yet. Sure, she told
him that she had started to love him somewhere along the way but to say the
actual words was different. But she
also knew saying them would be easy since she'd caught herself almost saying
them out loud, yet she was afraid to.
She didn't know if she could handle knowing he didn't love her back.
"And that concludes tonight's meeting," said
Dumbledore as Jordan looked at him. She
pressed her lips together and looked down at the parchment, making sure she
hadn't written anything stupid.
"I'll take the notes. Moody asked me to give him a copy," came his voice.>
Jordan looked up at Snape, who was towering over her.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> She slid the notes toward him and he picked
them up with a smirk. "Nice notes
Miss Harris. I'me Moe Moody will
appreciate all the time he'll have to put into trying to read this
drabble," he sneered.
"I had other things on my mind," she muttered as
she screwed the top back onto the inkbottle.
"Then perhaps next time you shouldn't come to the
meeting," he said as he neatly rolled the parchment up and slipped it into
his cloak.
Normally his nastiness didn't bother her.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Usually it amused her to no end but tonight
it was different. Maybe it was because
she was tired or maybe it was because she was a little too in love with
him. "Go to hell," she hissed
out as she stood from her chair.
Snape perked an eyebrow and smirked again.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> "I'm already in hell.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> I have to put with you lot," he said.
He waited for her to respond. He loved the banter they often shared in front of others because
it was almost intoxicating. If only
they knew what was really going on between the two of them.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> And it was fun because he liked provoking
her fiery attitude, which was one of the many reasons he... loved her.
"I'm tired," she finally said, "I don't
have time for this tonight. Maybe some
other night I'll engaged you but not now.
I have to go finish getting my father's stuff."
Snape took a deep breath in as he looked over at her.stymso-mso-spacerun: yes"> The hurt on her face made him take a step
back. far. said as he tightened his cloak around his body, "I shall see you
soon."
Jordan watched as he stepped out of the kitchen and when
she heard the popping noise that signaled he was gone, she turned to
Remus. "About ready to go?"
she asked.
Remus nodded his head and picked up his cloak.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> They went out to the living room and seconds
later they were in Simon's old study.
Remus looked around and noticed that someone had cleaned the blood off
the floor. "If you want,"
said Jordan as she looked over at him, "You can look through the library.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Take any books you want."
"You sure?" asked Remus as he stuck his wand
into his robe. She nodded her head and
pointed him in the direction of the library.
Once he was gone, Jordan went over to her father's desk and sat behind
it. She ran her hands over the smooth
oak before pulling the drawer open.
Inside were various papers, none of then too
important. She had found the important
papers days ago and discovered that the house was now hers but she didn't want
it. She had already made arrangements for
it to be sold as soon as all of his stuff was out of it.
Jordan spent at least an hour packing the study and was
finally satisfied that it was finished.
After placing the boxes by the doorway, she started down the hall to
retrieve Remus from the library. She
was halfway there when she felt someone slip their hand over her mouth and jerk
her under the stairwell.
"Shhh," she heard Remus say.
She felt her body stiffen as footsteps sounded above
them. Remus finally removed his hand
and she turned to face him. "Death
Eaters," he mouthed.
Jordan nodded her head and slowly stepped out into the
hallway as she quietly watched them walk into the living room.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> She pulled her wand out and softly spoke the
charm to call the other aurors.
Remus quietly stepped out beside her and nudged her
elbow. She raised her wand up, ready to
strike, because she knew that when the other aurors came, the Death Eaters
would hear them. And one by one, Tonks,
Moody and Kingsley popped into the hallway.
The five of them stood still, wands raised as the Death
Eaters turned to look at them. There
was at least ten in all and the moment they laid their eyes on the aurors, they
pulled out their wands.
font-family:Verdana'>Jordan held her place as she watched one of the Death
Eaters step forward. They looked right
at her before letting out a small laugh.
"Hello Jordan," came a male's voice. She kept her eyes on him as he slowly pulled down his black hood.
"Alex," she whispered.
"Ah," he said as he grinned, "You do
remember your favorite uncle."
Jordan shook her head as she kept her eyes on her
uncle. She could hear the Death Eaters
and aurors fighting around her but didn't move. Alexander smirked at and and quietly slipped off to the
kitchen. And she followed him.
When she got to the kitchen, the backdoor was opened.style="mso-spun: un: yes"> She stepped toward it, her hand gripped
around her wand as looked out into the dark backyard. She couldn't see him so she stepped outside as the skies opened
up and cast off buckets of cold rain.
"Alex?" she said as felt the cold water soak her
robe and body.
"I'm right here," he whispered from behind her
as he slipped his wand across her throat.
Jordan gasped for air as he pulled her back against him, his wand
crushing her larynx.
She dropped her wand as she struggled for air.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> She tried clawing at his wand just so she
could breathe but it didn't work.
"Stop, I'm not here to hurt you.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> I'm here to offer you something," he
hissed out, "Join us again and I won't kill you."
"No," she gasped out.
Alexander growled and pushed her forward.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Jordan felt her body hit the muddy ground as
she gasped for air. She knew he was
still there and that she had to find her wand.
Between the driving rain and the darkness of the night, she couldn't see
anything so she started to feel around for it.
"Get up!" roared Alexander as Jordan felt his
boot hit her side. She rolled over onto
her back and looked up at him.
"I'll never be a Death Eater again," she yelled
as she struggled to her feet, "I rather die than be like you."
"But you are like me," sneered Alexander
as he grabbed the front of her robes and pulled her closer, "You killed
your mother and your father."
"I wasn't here when my father was murdered."
"True," said Alexander as he nodded his head,
"But he died because of you. He
died protecting you. If I remember
right, his last words were 'Please don't hurt my daughter'.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> It was quite amusing to hear him beg for his
life."
"Shut up!" she screamed as she as her fist
contacted with his face. Alexander
stumbled back but quickly regained his footing.
"Don't you ever hit me again," he roared
as his hand slapped her to the ground, "I'll give you a week.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> One week to decide if rather face death or
become one of us again. I think the
choice is quite simple."
And with that, he was gone. Jordan stayed close to the ground as a mixture of blood and
rainwater filled her mouth. Her mind
was racing and her body ached. She turned
her head to the side and saw her wand sticking up from the muddy grasd shd she
snorted.
"Jordan! Are
you ok?" came Tonks' voice.
Jordan nodded her head as she felt someone's arms pull her
up. She looked at Moody, Remus and
Tonks before taking a step back.
"Lets go back to the house," suggested Tonks.
"No," said Jordan as she shook her head,
"I'm not going back."
"Jordan..." began Tonks as she reached out for
her.
She shook her head and stepped further back.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> "I need to leave the Order.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> I don't belong in it," she said as she
turned to leave.
"Jordan... you do," said Tonks as she started to
folher her but was stopped by Moody's hand.
"Let her go," he said, "She needs to deal
with this in her own way."
Tonks sighed and stepped back. And the three of them stood in the yard and watched as Jordan
disappear into the darkness.
A/N: I really have nothing to say here! LOLstyle="mso-spacerun: yes"> You'll have to read the next chapter to see
where she goes and what she decides ;)
