Things Happen

A/N: Thank you everyone for reviewing I have discovered that I like reviews. I hope that everyone likes this story. There will be a couple more chapters, I haven’t decided how many yet.

“So I hear you have a brat with the mudblood, and that she is pregnant with another one is it true? Draco Malfoy asked his godfather and former head of house as they sat in the potions classroom.

“Where are you hearing these things Draco? Don’t always believe everything you hear.” Snape replied testily

“So it’s not true?”

“I didn’t say that. I just said don’t believe everything you hear.” Snape ignored Draco’s snort and went back to grading papers. “I talked to the kid once, but I have seen her around a lot. Hermione lets her run where ever she wants. Why are you smiling Draco?”

“Well I am just trying to picture you as a doting daddy.” Draco said on the verge of laughter.

“Well I never planned on being a father, so yeah it would be hard to picture.”

“I am going to head home now so good luck which the parenting stuff.” Draco just laughed at Snapes glare and stepped into the Floo.

A little while after Draco left Snape felt something tugging at his robes and looking down he saw a little black haired child smiling up at him.

“Hi Mister, wanna play games with me.”

“Not really” Snape muttered

“Pleeease Mister, Mummy is teaching and the house elf isn’t fun.”

“Fine what do you want to play, and what is your name anyway?” He asked realizing that he didn’t even know the kids name.

“Oh I am Alyson Eileen Granger.” She said with a huge smile on her face and Severus felt his heart stop at the child’s middle name. “Can we play Hide and Seek?”

“How do you play that?”

“Oh let me teach you.” Alyson said dramatically and climbed into her fathers lap. “First someone needs to hide and then the other person counts to one hundred and then tries to find the person that was hiding.”

Snape found himself smiling at the little girl’s energy and realized that she may look like him in a lot of ways, but she was her mother all the way.

“I’m Hungry” Alyson said suddenly

“Well I don’t have anything down here, why don’t we go to the great hall and have some lunch.” She agreed and the two of them walked out of the classroom. Snape didn’t even notice that Alyson was holding his hand. He just listened to her talk a mile a minute.

“Oh Aly there you are I was worried about you. Sami came to get me when she noticed that you weren’t taking a nap.” Hermione hugged her daughter then looked at Snape “Thank you for looking out for her.”

He nodded his head slightly. “Surprisingly she is a delightful child that reminds me of her mother.” He smiled when he saw that Hermione was blushing. They watched the little girl run over to Uncle Harry and James.

“She’s growing on you isn’t she?” Hermione said with a grin on her face.

“I did not say that, however if it is ok with you I would like to spend some time with her. I don’t want her to know that I am her father yet. If this doesn’t work out I think it best she doesn’t know.”

“Ok if that is how you want to proceed with things, just don’t hurt her or I will hurt you.”

“You know I believe you would hurt me.” He looked down at her belly “What about this one? Is it a boy or a girl?”

“I have no idea; I didn’t want to know so it will be a surprise.” Hermione looked at Snape and she had a wicked smile on her face. “I was thinking Harry Ronald for a boy name though.” She was happy when she saw the livid look on his face.

“No child of mine will be named after those two.”

“Oh so you finally admit that the baby is yours too.” He glared at her and went to sit at the head table. Hermione’s eyes widened when she saw her daughter climb into Snapes lap and how he was making her a plate of food. “Hmm he may actually be daddy material after all” She thought to her self.

Everyday for the next week Alyson went to see Snape during his free period and she came back excited and talking a mile a minute. She talked about the things they did and Hermione would have paid big bucks to see him playing horsy with her four year old daughter.

“MUMMY!” Alyson yelled running through the door of the apartment

“Aly please don’t yell.”

“Sorry mummy, can I go to Hogsmeade with Sevus?”

Hermione looked up to see Severus step through the door and her breath caught. Oh gods she thought I am in love with Severus Snape. She forced her self to look back at her daughter. ‘If he wants you to go then yes you may go, but what are the rules?”

Alyson look thoughtful for a minute then smiled. “No running, always stay with you and hold your hand, but this time it would be hold Sevrus’s hand. Oh and behave.”

Hermione laughed “Very good Miss Alyson, now you have fun.”


Severus watched Hermione as she went over the rules with their daughter and he realized that he would watch Hermione all day and be happy. He wasn’t sure about what he felt for her, but he was glad that he had time to discover what those feelings were.
