Epilogue: Author's Note on Dan's Prick from Equus

Author's note: This is not a real chapter...and this is dedicated to Danine!

Ahhh, Danine, thank you for reminding me!

Equus is a very dark and twisted story. It is about Alan Strang, a 17 year old stablehand who, one night, mysteriously blinds six horses with a hoof pick...no warning, no explanation...

The play itself is about the child psychiatrist Dr. Dysart as he works his way through Alan's mind to unravel exactly why he blinded the horses and what led up to it. It was first put on in the 1970's (in London's West End, I believe) and they did a revival of it in which Richard Griffiths (Uncle Vernon!) plays Dr. Martin Dysart and Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter!) plays Alan Strang. And he had several shirtless scenes *drool* and a couple of "strip" scenes *DROOL* AND a completely-naked-on-stage-with-everyone-seeing-EVERYTHING INCLUDING a "sex" scene (no, he and the girl didn't *actually* have sex on stage).

When I read the script, it didn't seem to flow very well. Hence, I "rewrote" it so that it made more sense in my head, in a Harry/Draco context. After seeing the play on stage, and watching Daniel's BRILLIANT ACTING (and yes, I am talking about his ACTING...NOT his cock), I am much more enamored of the play.

I don't understand it much better (yet); the beginning/middle parts seem disjointed to me, but the ending came together in an explosive, powerful, poignant, and shattering way that IT clicked...even if the rest of the play hasn't quite yet.

And now on to the *important* stuff...Dan's prick (according to Danine :P ). Well, obviously it wasn't hard (*sad*) but after actually seeing him/it in person...I have this vague desire to "protect" his modesty, so if you want to know, email me and I'll email you back privately, but I feel weird/wrong discussing his actual measurements online.

After the show, a large group gathered at the Stage Door outside, hoping that Daniel would come out and sign some autographs. Sadly, he wasn't able to tonight, but it really hit it home for me just HOW many people want a piece of him...and I feel sorry for him, poor thing. (It just makes me want to hug him!) And some stupid drunk boys in the crowd were yelling stuff like, "We want Harry Potter!" etc etc, which made me realize just how people sometimes don't realize that HE (DANIEL RADCLIFFE) is an actual person, too. So out of respect for his feelings, even if he never finds/reads this site, email me if you want any of my personal opinions on him, the play, etc.

And, if you have any particular questions regarding my fic, please post them in a review; I'd love to have a sort of "discussion" about it, namely because I think it would help me understand the actual play Equus.
