Chapter 6
After that memorable night, Draco and Hermione grew closer to each other, while Harry grew further away. He hadn't spoke to Hermione in weeks since he found out she was seeing Malfoy. Hermione was still hurt that he couldn't be happy for her. The Gryffindor's grew curious, and when they attempted to find out what was going on, both Harry and Hermione remmained silent on the subject.
November turned into December, and the Holiday break was right around the corner. Ginny and Ron begged Hermione to go with them to the burrow.
"Please, Hermione you've got to come" pleaded Ginny. "Please don't leave me in a house full of guys. I'll be sooo bored"
"I'm sorry, Ginny, I can't. It'll cause problems." she said as she glanced over to Harry. " but I promise I'll wirte to you." she said hugging her friend.
"Ok, Mione. See you. And let us know if you change your mind!" she yelled waving goodbye as she left Kings Cross with the Weasleys and Harry.
When Hermione arrived home, emptiness fell over her. She wold be alone this Holiday. She made her way up to her room and fell on her bed. She was so tired from her late nights with Draco and worrying about school, that not five minutes after she layed in her bed, she was asleep.
She was woken up by the sound of someone knocking at her door. She look at her clock and it was 12:30 am.
"Who the bloody hell would be coming to see her at this time of night especially on Christmas Eve?" she asked out loud.
She ran down the stairs, with her wand in her hand and slowly approaced the door. She peeked through the lookin hole on her door and saw a a redhead standing outside. Hermione flng the door open and stared in shock.
"Ginny?" she asked "What are you doing here?" she asked in a confused tone.
"Like I said earlier. I'm not staying in a house with all guys. And your not staying alone for the Holiday. So I talked to mum and she agreed that I could stay with you for the break." she said casually as she walked in with her trunk in tow.
"Oh, Ginny" Hermione said as tears flowed down her cheeks.
Ginny wrapped Hermione in a hug. " Mum sent some food and gifts from everyone. Well almost everyone." she said quietly.
"Oh I'll have to thank them. My gifts should be arriving at the Burrow tommorow" she said.
"Hermione, whats going on. I hate to see you and Harry act like this. You know you can tell me anything. I'm you best friend." said Ginny.
Hermione and Ginny sat down and the couch and explained everything about her and Draco. Ginny sat there and listened to every word Hermione had to say. When she was finished, tears fell down from her eyes. She hoped Ginny wouldn't abandon her like Harry had. After a few minutes, Ginny spoke.
"Even though you're seeing someone I and the rest of our friends despise, you seem to trust him and he seems to really care about you."she said as tears continued to fall down Hermione's cheeks. "Dont worry Mione', Im not going anywhere, I'm still your best friend and I repect your descion." said Ginny giving Hermione a small smile.
Hermione jumped up and hugged Ginny. "Oh Ginny, thank you so much. I don't know what I'd do without you." she said quietly.
"Don't worry about Harry, he'll come around and realize that he's being an idiot" Ginny said as she grinned.
Both girls laughed throughout the night, reemering funny memories and rumors going around school. Before they relized it they had fallen asleep.
The sun approached quickly and brightened the living room, waking the girls up after only a few hours sleep. Hermione woke up to a growling stomace, as did Ginny.
"Hey Gin," asked Hermione sleepily " what do you want for breakfeast?" she asked.
"We could make pancakes" suggested Ginny.
"Mmm, that sounds good." she said stting up.
Both girls went into the kitchen and got out the bowls, pan and ingredients. Hermione looked the eggs and her stomache felt sick. Ginny noticed her go pale.
"Mione', you ok?"
"I think I'm gonna be sick Gin" said Hermione as she rushed out of the kitchen and into the bathroom. A few minutes later Hermione came back out.
"Thats the second time this week I've gotten sick like that" Hermione said nervously.
Ginny had an idea af what might be going on.
" Hermione, how long have you been getting sick like this?" Ginny asked
"About a month now. I figure its a stomache bug ." she replied
" Not to pry into your personal life or anything, but have you slept with Malfoy."
"Yes, in October right after Harry found out" she replied blushing
"Have your periods been regular?" asked Ginny
"No, I've missed it twice. I think its because I've been so stressed out lately. Ginny why are you asking me all these questions?" she asked.
"Hermione, you are the brightest witch in Hogwarts. Surley you don't need me to answer that." said Ginny smirking.
Hermione dropped the spoon she was mixing the pancake batter with, and looked up at Ginny with wide eyes.
"Ginny, you don't think I'm-" Hermiones voice faded as Ginny nodded her head.
"Did you use-" Ginny spoke as Hermione shook her head.
"Hermione , lay on the couch. I'm going to perform a charm to see if my instincts are right." Ginny said.
Hermione walked over to the couch and layed on her back. Ginny stood over her and waved her wand over Hermione's stomace. She mumbled a few words and after a few minutes, pink sparks flew out of her wand. Hermione started breathing quicker and he eyes grew even wider. Ginny sat down next to her on the couch and held her hand.
"Congratulations, Hermione, your two months pregnant, with a baby girl."
Tears fell down her cheeks as her and Ginny hugged, both girls with smiles on their faces.
