Chapter 6: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Chapter 6: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
The 5 ‘7 long dark red haired girl with bright green eyes walked in to the halls of Hogwarts behind a professor in a pointed hat and a straight face. The girl was 17 and attending her first year at Hogwarts after her parents thought it was time for her to go there.
“Professor where are we supposed to go?” The 17 year old girl asked.
“To the Great Hall Miss Levine.” McGonagall replied.
“Well it’s taking a long time to get there.” The girl whispered to herself.
“What was that Miss Levine?”
“Oh nothing Professor.” The girl replied sweetly. McGonagall stopped at the front of a pair of large doors. “It took us this long to get here? We walked past here about 10 minutes ago.”
“I was simply buying time Miss Levine. Usually no one notices that I do that.” McGonagall pushed open one door. The girl looked in and saw a hall full of people.
“Oh I can’t go in there.” The girl hesitated.
“You must dear.” McGonagall pushed the girl in to the hall. Immediately everyone’s eyes were on her.
“Oh shit.” She whispered. She looked up to the front of the hall and saw a stool with a hat and what she supposed as other professors sitting on a desk behind it. McGonagall began to walk towards the stool. The girl followed her.
“Levine, Isabelle.” McGonagall called as she picked up the ragged hat. Isabelle walked up to the stool and sat down. She felt everyone’s eyes burn in to her skin.
‘Hmm, you have a very strong mind. Very brave and smart but not so strong physically. You can do many things. You are caring and share everything around. Lets see where I shall put you…’
Isabelle looked around the hall. At one table she saw a boy looking at her with messy jet black hair and glasses. As she looked at him she felt odd, almost a little sad and ripped apart.
“GRYFFINDOR!” The ragged hat shouted. The table that the boy with jet black hair sat at erupted in cheers. Isabelle took the hat off and stood up.
“Ahem.” A man behind her cleared his throat. Isabelle looked at him and he smiled at her. “Isabelle is in the 7th year and I would like it if you all made her welcome!” Dumbledore announced. Isabelle looked passed Dumbledore and to a man with shoulder length what looked like slimy black hair. She stared at him and he stared at her back with a raised eyebrow. She found him to be amusing and she seemed to be attracted to him. “LET THE FEAST BEGIN!”
“Miss Levine you may go now.” McGonagall tapped her shoulder.
“Oh yes. Thank you Professor.” Isabelle stepped off the raised platform and walked over to the table that had erupted in cheers a few minutes before. She looked over at the boy with black hair and saw him wave at her. She pointed to herself and he nodded. Isabelle walked over to him.
“Hi. You can sit with us if you want.” Harry moved away from a bushy brown haired girl to make some space for Isabelle.
“Thanks so much.” Isabelle sat down.
“I’m Harry Potter, Head boy.” Harry put out his hand. Isabelle took it in hers and shook it.
“Well I guess you know my name.” Isabelle smiled.
“Yeah.” Harry nodded. “And this is Ron Weasley.” Harry pointed to a boy with flaming red hair who stared at her like she was a rare object.
“Nice to meet you Ron.” Isabelle just smiled at him, not knowing if he would be able to shake her hand.
“And behind you there is Hermione Granger, head girl.” Harry pointed to the bushy brown haired girl.
“Hello.” Hermione said poshly.
“Hi.” Isabelle shook her hand. Out of all of them Isabelle thought that Harry was the one that she knew she could get on with.
“That’s a nice locket.” Harry said, pointing to the locket around Isabelle’s neck.
“Oh thank you. I’ve never taken it off since I was about 5.” Isabelle held the locket in her hand. “I’ve never been able to open it though.”
“That’s interesting.” Hermione mused.
“Yeah I know. I’ve tried everything.” Isabelle let the locket go.
“Oh well.” Harry shrugged. “Lets eat.”
“Yeah.” Isabelle began putting food on to her plate. She looked over to the red head boy and saw that he was still staring at her.
“Don’t worry about him. Ron’s a little thick. He doesn’t know what he’s doing anymore and he has a bit of a staring problem. He’d stare at a dog for hours.” Hermione spat. Ron shook his head.
“No I don’t!” Ron stated.
“Yes you do Ronald Weasley.” Hermione retorted.
“No I don’t!”
“Yes you do!”
“No I don’t!”
“Yes you do!”
“Guy’s please just shut up for a while ok? I think you’re scaring Isabelle.” Harry looked at the new comer who was laughing her head off. “Orybe ybe not.” Harry added.
“They act as though they are brother and sister.” Isabelle said through her laugh.
“Yeah in some cases they do.” Harry agreed.
“Harry who’s that professor?” Isabelle asked as she pointed to the man with the shoulder length hair.
“Oh that’s Snape. Bit of an arrogant bastard.”
“He won’t know what hit him.” Isabelle smirked to herself.
********
Harry, Isabelle, Ron and Hermione sat in the common room talking.
“Can you tell us more about yourself now Isabelle?” Hermione asked.
“Sure, it’s only fair.” Isabelle nodded. “I’m 17 and my birthday is on the 31st of July.”
“So is Harry’s. Ron blurted.
“That’s cool.” Isabelle smiled. Hermione ogled the girl oddly.
“Sure is.” Harry smiled back.
“I used to go to a school in America before I came here. I lived here but I just went there. Parents wanted me to.” Isabelle started. “I’m an adopted child…” Harry, Ron and Hermione stared at her. “And I don’t know who my real parents are but when I’ve finished school I promised myself that I would find out. I just didn’t want all of this stuff to get in my way of school.”
“Well you’re interesting.” Ron said.
“Not really.” Isabelle laughed. “You three are much much much more interesting.”
“Guess so.” Hermione said in a snotty tone.
“Anyway guys I’m going to go to bed. Want to have a good sleep before class starts.” Isabelle stood up.
“Sure. We’ll meet you here in the morning so we can show you to your classes and take you to breakfast.” Harry said.
“That would be nice. Thanks Harry.” Isabelle patted his shoulder as she walked past him and up to her dorm.
“She’s really nice.” Ron mumbled as he watched her walk off.
“Yeah she is.” Harry agreed.
“There’s something about her.” Hermione tapped a finger to her chin.
“Hermione please don’t go and nose into her business. It’s really annoying and not to mention a little pathetic.” Harry sighed.
“Oh fine Harry I won’t.” Hermione stood up from her chair and walked off.
Isabelle opened a bed room door and saw a red and yellow filled room with two beds. One with her belongings in it and another with someone else’s. She could feel a buzzing in her locket. It had never buzzed like this before. She held it in the palm of her hand and it still buzzed. The dorm room opened and in came Hermione.
“Oh hey Hermione.” Isabelle smiled.
“Hi.” Hermione walked over to the other bed. “I guess we share the same room now.”
“I guess so.” Isabelle looked though her trunk and pulled out some pyjamas. “I thought that the head girl would get her own room or something.” Isabelle hopped on to her bed and pulled around the thick red curtains.
“So did I but apparently we don’t.” Hermione walked around the room. Isabelle began to undress out of her uniform and put on her silk pyjamas. She could hear Hermione ruffling around. Isabelle threw her uniform to the foot of the bed and slid in-between the bed sheets.
“Hermione can I call you Mione?” Isabelle asked.
“Yeah sure.” Hermione said from the other side of the curtains.
“Can I ask you something Mione?”
“What will stop you?”
“Nothing I guess but what do you think of Professor Snape?” Isabelle asked just remembering how she felt about him when she first saw him.
“He’s a very good professor but I must say he does take things over the top, even for my standards.” Hermione replied.
“Oh ok thanks Mione.” Isabelle closed her eyes.
“It’s ok.” Hermione slipped into her bed too. “Lights off.” Hermione said and the lights went out. Isabelle thought about Harry for a little while. She didn’t fancy him or anything she felt as though she couldn’t like him in that way and didn’t know why but she felt extremely close to him, like there was a missing link between them that would have completed her reason of feeling close to him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Meanwhile~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Harry and Ron still sat in the common room.
“She’s really nice.” Ron grinned.
“Yeah she is.” Harry nodded.
“Do you fancy her?” Ron asked.
“No, no. She fells like a sister actually. I don’t know why and don’t ask and I’m going out with Amanda, so if you want to date her you can.”
“Ah, um. I don’t think I could ask her out.” Ron mumbled.
“Why not Ron? You don’t think she’d fancy you?” Harry laughed.
“No, I think that maybe… yes.” Ron frowned.
“You aint that bad. Maybe you’ll grow on her.” Harry stood up. “Anyway I’m knackered so I’m going to bed.”
“I’ll go with ya.” Ron stood up and followed Harry.
