Seizure of Power

Draco Malfoy strode down the corridor and stopped. One door to his left led to Saint Potter’s room, the one on the right led to Granger’s. He drew out his wand. 11 and ½ inches of ash-tree with dragon heartstrings for core. It was a much better wand than he had in school. The almost white surface of the polished wand flickered in the light of the torches as he strained his ears to hear what was going on in these two rooms. He didn’t dare to use magic because griffindors must have put up a dozen of spells to detect it.

Take their memories of the past few days, had his Master said and he indented to obey his demand. To take some of their memories.

Better take Potter out first, figured Draco and pointed his wand at the left door.

“Alohomora!” he called and the door to his right burst open with two wands pointed at him.

“Petrificus Totalus!” yelled Hermione at him and Draco felt his body going rigid. Loosing his balance, he fell over and landed with a hard thump on his back.

“I told you,” said Harry to her and shoved the tip of his wand in the face of Draco.

“Mobilicorpus,” he muttered and Draco was pulled up from the ground. Harry levitated him into Hermione’s room and locked the door with some powerful spells.

“I just can’t believe what a snitch you are. After getting your gold you turn against us so easily,” growled Hermione in disappointment but Harry only used it to mock her and her trusting heart.

“He’s a slytherin,” hissed Harry like that was the whole truth he needed to know.

“Don’t judge by the House,” whispered Hermione as she remembered something from her parallel past. She stepped to Draco and released his head from the magical bindings.

“You stupid Mudblood! You’ll get for this!” spat Draco but Hermione swallowed his insults all along with her bitter tears that scraped her throat. She was still vulnerable to mere words.

“Why did you attacked Harry’s…” she started but then changed her question. “Do we get to meet your Master?”

“Not in this life!” leered Draco and got a good kick from Harry.

“We paid and we want something back for it,” growled Harry and raised his fist for another punch.

“Harry, stop,” hissed Hermione and pointed her own wand at Draco, right between his eyes.

“Legilimens!”

She saw a dark room. Two figures stood in front of an open window. She heard music coming from thin air as she stepped closer to them to see who was the Master.

“As I said before – the last girl was the last and so it stays. No more. I will not see her,” he said and turned to look at his servant.

“Balthazar?!” yelped Hermione.

“Let them stay for the night. In the morning they will leave. You’ll Obliviate them. Is that understood?”

“You son of a bitch!” screamed Hermione in rage and started to stroll at him to smack him in the face.

“Yes, my Master,” said Draco and ripped her out of his memory.

“Get out of my head!” yelled Draco and glared furiously at her.

Hermione smacked him across the face.

“Your Master is Balthazar?!” she shouted at him in accusation, “You should have told me,” she growled and stomped out of the room.

“Mione, wait!”

Hermione was raging as she walked down the corridor. Harry caught up with her on the staircase.

“Who is Balthazar?”

“Actually Balthazar, the 7th,” growled Hermione, “He’s my cousin or something. Or probably even uncle. Something anyway.”

“Ah,” made Harry.

Getting out of the quest house front door, a big wolf stood in their way, showing his long fangs.

“Ah crap,” hissed Hermione and halted in the fresh snow.

“This is where it ends,” said Draco stepping out of the door behind them and eyed the growling wolf. He pointed his wand at the two griffindors and demanded them to throw away their wands. The threat from the big wolf also helped.

“My Master does not wish to see you, Mudblood, and has ordered me to Obliviate you,” announced Draco and accioed their wands into his hand.

“Malfoy! I don’t have time for this!” yelled Hermione, “I have to see him to save millions of lives!”

Draco stepped closer to them, using their own wands in pointing at them.

“What are you babbling about, Mudblood? Who can you possibly save? Better yet, from whom?” he asked in a mocking tone but she didn’t let bitterness blind her rage. She noticed he was also curious just like a cat. And that didn’t end well for the cat.

“Ancients,” stated Hermione and one provocative idea came to her mind. She stepped up the few steps and stood right in front of Draco who was glaring with disgust at her.

“And you,” she said with slight smirk and kissed him suddenly, “are gonna help us,” she finished with disarming him by snatching wands from his hands.

“Wha-what?” stuttered Draco who was still confused and disoriented. “Hey! Yuck! Argh!”

“Now,” Hermione turned around and aimed her next shot at the wolf, “You are gonna take us to your Master.”

The wolf disintegrated into golden dust that started to twirl around and take a new shape.

“Hermione?” asked Harry to get some answers. He still quite didn’t understand what was going on. Half of time he had no idea what she was talking about.

“Hello, Connor,” sneered Hermione when a figure materialized from the sparkling dust. The man in the snow had still some features of the wolf – claws, fangs, black mane and golden eyes. Connor stared her with rage mixed with awe.

“No one but the right blood could lift the curse,” he growled. He looked a bit confused just as Draco was who had just recovered from the first shock.

“I know him,” whispered Harry, “He’s a dark wizard! Served Voldemort! He’s one of the most wanted Death Eaters!”

Harry raised his wand and aimed it right to his heart. He was already ready to cast the Killing Curse when Hermione grasped from his hand and yanked it away.

“Even if he did, he’s family,” said Hermione.

“Are you insane! I have the power to kill him!”

“That you are an Auror does not give you an excuse to murder someone in cold blood!” yelled Hermione and ran down the stairs to Connor who had slumped into the snow. He was stark naked and freezing from the cold. She conjured clothes on his back and some warm blankets.

“Only right blood…” stuttered Connor in the verge of hypothermia, “Great Ariston blood…”

“Hush,” lulled Hermione and stared at the two wizards, “What are you staring at? Help me to get him inside!”

“That was one stupid thing to do,” remarked Harry after they had left Connor to the guesthouse in front of a roaring fireplace. “He is a criminal! Killed 20 people or so!”

“It doesn’t matter,” said Hermione being loyal to a family she never had. In front of them walked Draco. He had only two wands behind his back to worry about.

“You know, this is never gonna work! My Master does not take such things lightly!”

“Oh, shut up, Malfoy. I know your Master well enough to break through,” spat Hermione and poked him with her wand.
