Pretending to sleep, Hermione heard the conversation between master and house elf in its entirety.
\'A month of sex with Professor, no Severus?\' She shivered and it had nothing to do with the temperature of the room.
When she turned around on the bed and opened her eyes, she met Severus\' blank gaze.
"I do not know what you feel about this arrangement, Miss Granger." he drawled. "But what must be done must be done. Unless you do not mind a painful existence of servitude to the house for the rest of your life as the enchantment states clearly that the unfulfullment of the bond may result in the enslavement of the persons involved as house elves are bound to their houses, or depending on the whim or anger of the home in question, a most painful death."
"I\'ll bond with you, Professor." said Hermione simply. Meeting her steady gaze, Severus abruptly turned his head.
"Well, it\'s settled then. A month or forty days and forty nights of uh- consummation is necessary for the enchantment to lift. I dare say that would not be the end of your troubles as by the end of the month, you will undoubtedly be with--my child. It is the enchantment of this kind that increases potency that no potion I concoct can undo. Do you fully realize that situation you\'re in, Miss Granger?"
"Yes, I do." replied Hermione. "And call me Hermione please, as I will address you by your first name as well."
Severus looked at her as if sizing her up, then nodded curtly. "Hermione," he said.
"I will need your assistance in brewing lust potions, painreliever potions, and stamina potions as my hand is currently encumbered."
Hermione realized that she had met a thoughful wizard who would not rush into the ritual without adequete preparation. For this, she was thankful.
They brewed the potions for hours, measuring the temperature of each potion to ensure it was drunk at the right time. Lust potions were especially tricky as a decent amount of warmth had to be present for it to be adequete but too much could result in unwanted side effects.
Finally, they were done. Severus looking grim, and Hermione determined, the two toasted each other and drank the contents of the potions.
