chapter 5

Hermione had torn her dorm room apart looking for that notebook. The only thing she could conclude was that she had lost it somewhere on campus. She remembered having it in Herbology because it was inside her textbook. She knew she had it in the library because she moved it when she searched for her quill, so she had to have dropped it in the library.

She had Potions next so she would have to search the library later. As she ambled into her seat she tried to focus on the lecture. Draco answered a question correctly and received applause from the Slytherins. “Thank my lords and ladies.” He replied to them with a gallant bow.

She shook her head and the practical lesson began. It was a simple potion and one that was easily brewed. Draco went to retrieve some supplies and nearly slipped on the way. He managed to bring himself upright quickly.

“Alright then Malfoy?” Goyle called.

“Argh not a thing will take me down my hardies!” He called out, earning laughter from the room.

“That’s enough Mr. Malfoy you have a potion to brew.” Professor Snape called out.

He returned to his seat giving Hermione an unusual look. She dismissed him and continued with her work. Throughout the class Hermione brewed and got the distinct feeling she was being watched. Glances around the room proved nothing.

At the end of class they turned in samples and cleaned up waiting for Snapes last words. “I have the results of your last potion brewed and the competency level was adequate at best. Mr. Malfoy however turned in excellent work.

“Yes, ladies and gentlemen, point one for The Malfoy!” He said rising in his chair and holding out his hands.

Hermione froze. No it couldn’t be possible, she thought. It wasn’t fucking possible. She looked over at Malfoy but he had turned and was gathering his bag.

No. She was jumping to conclusions that’s all. She grabbed her bag and headed to the library.

She had searched the aisles she went in and then searched the aisles she hadn’t been in. That damned notebook was nowhere to be found. Where in the hell had she lost it? This was driving her mad.

She had gone through her last class of the day without locating that notebook. As she sat at dinner she stared at her plate. She was beginning to panic and she had no idea what to do about it.

She took her mug and sipped holding it in both hands. When her eyes locked on to a table across the hall, she felt the blood drain from her face and heat seared her ears.

Draco was at the Slytherin table reading her notebook! He must have taken it from her bag when she was looking for a book in the library. He looked up at her and toasted her with his mug then kept reading.

He wasn’t showing it to anyone, he was just reading it? She kept her eyes on his and watched his movements. He read on and on and from what she could tell he was nearing the end of the text. The stories only covered about half the notebook. The rest were just blank pages.

He looked up and focused on her eyes for a moment then reached into his robes and took out a quill. Hermione watched with wide eyes as he egan writing on the next page. She thought he might write a short note to her, calling her whatever names he thought of to call her. Whatever he had to say she would be ready for it.

Hermione sat in her dorm room working on homework when Lavender walked in. “This was outside the portrait it has your name on it. Is it yours?” She asked handing a package to her. When Hermione took it in her hands she felt it was her notebook inside.

“Yes its mine, thanks Lavender.” She opened it up and quickly flipped it open. He didn’t leave her a note. He wrote a fucking story.
