Chapter 5: You’re A Mystery
Hermione got up from the couch and walked over to Jessie, “Hi I’m Hermione Granger, Head Girl”
Jessie looked at her, “Jessie Lockhart, Mitch’s girlfriend,” she said and briefly shook Hermione’s hand.
“Mitch’s girlfriend…” she said quietly.
Without another word Hermione left them and set out to find Mitch because she had some explaining to do.
Mitch didn’t move where she was looking up at the stars wondering how this year is going to go while having her ex here and all having a beautiful Gryffindor on her mind. She knew that she would have to do some explaining about Jessie’s surprise appearance at Hogwarts, but in all honesty she didn’t know how Jessie got there in the first place.
Mitch sat up and began to think about how Jessie got there. She never even mentioned that she was going overseas to finish school. After their break up they stayed friends hung out here and there but, then, over the summer they never spoke to each other not even once. The last she heard was that Jessie found a new person to be with and that she moved in with them and they’ve been together ever since.
“So why come here thinking that we are still together?” she asked herself out loud. It didn’t seem to make any sense at all, but Jessie did kind of mentioned that she wanted to get back together but Mitch told her no. She sat there trying to find a reason for this sudden appearance of her ex that she didn’t notice Hermione walking up to her.
Hermione knew one place that Mitch would go to and that would be the lake. That’s where anyone ever went to if they needed to think or if she ever needed to think. She walked out of the castle and walked towards the lake looking around until she finally saw who she was looking for not to far from where she was standing. With a small smile on her face she walked towards her.
Still trying to find a reason for her ex’s sudden appearance she heard footsteps coming towards her she looked to her right and saw Hermione. With a small smile she stood up and watched her walk over trying to control the beating of her heart.
“You have a lot of explaining to do, I hope you know that,” Hermione said as she finally reached Mitch.
All Mitch could do is look down and nod, “I know, please don’t tell me that she called herself my girlfriend,” she pleaded.
“That’s how she introduced herself saying that she was your girlfriend” she answered with a hint of jealousy in her voice.
Mitch laughed and sat down, “She has some fucking nerve that bitch!” she almost shouted making Hermione jump.
“She’s the psycho ex?” she asked as she sat down next to her.
“Yeah the one I broke up with a long time ago after a month. I don’t understand I broke up with her we stayed friends for a while. She mentioned that she wanted to get back with me but I told her no. Then this past summer last I heard she was moving in with some one else and now she shows up her telling you that she’s my girlfriend! I can’t believe this shit!” she said trying to control her anger for the second time that night.
They sat there in silence for a few more moments until Hermione broke it, “You’re a mystery you know that,” she told her.
Mitch nodded, “Yeah I know I like it when people try to figure me out when they don’t know anything about me”
“Such as having a psycho ex-girlfriend”
“I was going to tell you but I didn’t think she would show up like this” she said with a sigh.
Hermione looked at the girl sitting next to her trying to figure her feelings for this girl and also trying figure out the girl. She knew from the beginning that Mitch would be closed off and not want to open up about anything until they developed some kind of friendship or something more. ‘I hope it’ll be something more,’ she thought to herself.
Mitch sat there wondering what to say next to this amazing girl that was sitting next to her but she knew that if she said something it would ruin it. She tends to say the wrong thing at the right time, this was the right time to say something but she couldn’t find the words to say.
While the two girls sat by the lake in a comfortable silence they didn’t know that Jessie was watching them from the window in the Heads’ common room. Not liking what she sees she needed to work faster on her plan to get Mitch back no matter what it took.
Draco had gone off to bed with confused thoughts that he would have to deal with later.
Back at the lake the two girls were still sitting in silence, ‘Say something or do something you idiot’ Mitch thought to herself she looked at Hermione and who was looking down maybe also trying to figure out what to say.
‘Say something or do something,’ Hermione thought to herself. She didn’t know what to do or say all she knew was that she was sitting her with an amazing person she’s only know for a short amount of time. What could she do or say at a time like this? Still trying to figure something out she felt eyes on her and looked up and was once again hit by those crystal blue eyes.
“Dance with me,” Mitch said standing up, holding out her hand for Hermione to take.
“What?” she asked as she took her hand to stood up.
“Dance with me,” Mitch said again as she pulled the Gryffindor close to her wrapping her arms around her waist.
Hermione didn’t know what to think but to just look into Mitch’s eyes and wrapped her arms around the taller girl’s neck. Taking the lead Mitch started to sway to their own music, “Why are we dancing to no music?” Hermione asked.
“We’re making our own,” Mitch answered her with a smile as she started to hum a small little tune.
Jessie watched from the window and did not like was she saw now. In her mind Mitch belonged to her and only her, if she can’t have Mitch then no one can. She continued to watch the two slow dance together wondering what’s going to happen next.
Hermione looked up at the taller girl and smiled as Mitch kept humming a tune. She would asked the talented witch about it later but right now all she could think about was being in her arms and feeling so right. She rested her head on her shoulder as they continued to dance.
Mitch smiled and continued to hum her favorite song, knowing that later on the witch in her arms would as what song it is. She slightly pulled away and looked at the girl in her arms and she looked back. Without thinking Mitch leaned in and gently pressed her lips against Hermione’s.
