Disclaimer:
I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
A/N
I realize now that my comments as they where left have some holes in them. I amended them after I read what there was to say about by the other author.
I used the word influence because it was used in one of the three of the reviews I have since erased. I do not remember the exact way it was used but it was to the effect that I was wrong to use an idea that was influenced by said story and disregard the a/n that said not to without permission. I had said that I had posted first therefore I could not have been influenced by it. Then they said that they do not respect me enough to review any of my fics in the future since I did not respect said author. This was when I was under the assumption that the issue was in regard to adult-fanfiction.org only. I thought that the fact that I posted first would let said reviewer know that if mine was first I could not have read the other story and infringe upon it.I have nothing against said reviewer, they said what they thought with the facts that they had.
The last comment to Lady Lynn may appear rude, but that as the reflection of how angry I was at her scathing, untrue and plain rude review I got from her. I do not as a rule be rude to reviews that do not like my stories. I try to tell myself that as a writer that it comes with the territory, you can't please everyone with the way you write. But to say that I would be sued for plagerism many times over in the real world was unfair. She also criticized my story said that it was horribly written, that I did not have an original bone in my body. I acknowledge that I do not have the writing chops of some writers and on some occasions build from challenges, some are my own.so I take challenges to start with and work from there. I only been writing a few months so I am not at the standard as some writers by experience or by pure talent. This does not mean that she could be so cruel and sarcastic about my story either. Then she said that if the story was not written first then the idea to write a Remus story exploring Moony as an influence would have not entered my mind. Hence the explanation of of my reasoning behind it. I resented the accusation that I willfully and with malice stole this idea. And I would also like to state for the record, that I left the dreams no graphic on purpose because she was so young. The graphic scenes would have been implemented later when she was more of an adult and enjoy the attentions more.
And for the record, only when did I received these reviews that I even realized that there was an issue at hand.
I then read her side of the story
I saw the GE argument and that I could have potentially have seen it and copied from it before I posted to this site. You can see what i said from the previous author note and no need to repeat it. And i still stand by that statement.
I saw that she was offended and that she believes that I saw her story on a previous site and used it without permission, something that she is doubly offended by since there was an a/n that politely asked not to use the idea without permission.
If I was her I would be offended also if I thought that someone did something so awful intentionally and did not even acknowledge that the idea was hers.
My idea of plagiarism is very different from her idea of plagiarism. My idea is that a writer that reads copies ideas willfully and blatantly and call it their own. Hers according to her rant in her story from what I gather she sees it as stories that are original and used without permission wither intentional or not is plagiarism and therefore I am in the wrong.
I also for the record like to say that I resent the implication that I wrote Remus Lupin in a bad light and that i twisted a storyline or person into a bad way.(twisted as a matter of fact was a term used for my story). I resent the idea that my Remus would "pant after a fourteen year old girl". I always seen him as a gentleman and would never force himself on anyone, much less someone underage as portrayed by his reaction the day after.
I also would like to state for the record, that my original argument, the one she commented on when I originally defended myself, has been erased. I am only even mentioning this because the a/n in the other story still stands and I want to address it. It refers to two other authors that I stated in my case that I hoped to prove that i did not intentionally infringe as per my argument to what I believe plagiarism is and stated three instances where I was influenced or took ideas from but acknowledged that the storyline was from another author, as proof in my mind that I would never take some ideas without acknowledging that it was someone's idea first. An idea by the way I still stand by. I only erased the argument because one of the authors did not agree with this statement at all. I erased the name and refuse to name the author again out of respect of the request not to be associated with this story or argument. said story is being revised, not that the author asked me to, but I felt to avoid another flame and issue it would be best. The facts that where similar by the way where only in one chapter not the whole thing. Revising would strengthen the idea that it was my own and completely my own so the stories would stand alone two both of us.
The other I posted a story stating the original idea belonged to someone else, I removed it because I did not want to cause another issue with another author I respect. Considering all authors have different views about plagiarism and what is considered i guess the best way to describe it as group property.I did not think it would offend but now I am not so sure. The story will be reposted once I am sure of that fact.
The author claims the only honorable thing to do would be to erase it or revise it. I disagree, revising it would paint Remus Lupin in a bad light, and to delete it would say that I intentionally set out to do something wrong and I worked hard at it also and I am not ashamed of it in any way.
The only thing that I can think of is to discontinue, to show my work and to let people think for themselves. I am not the kind to tell someone what to think, so I will not. What the readers think is up to them(They probably made their mind up who to support anyway)
I am not going to waste my time or anyone else's by getting into a huge argument and wast my writing time to keep trying to defend myself and dragging half the establishment into it. I said what I needed to say and I will say no more
I have nothing but respect for the authors on this site and Granger Enchanted, even if they do not believe me. I would like to take the time to apologize to the author that posed the challenge and to be dragged into this issue, and any other reader that will be disappointed by this choice that I think is the best. thank you for the kind words for the story and words of support. I am hoping if you enjoyed this one that you may at lest enjoy another.
