THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU to Narcissa Black. Your review was truly wonderful and I think some of the tention you were looking for comes into play in this chapter. This story begins to weave in more characters from now on, which is why I didn\'t put it in the Draco/Ginny catagory because it is a lot more than that. We get to understand Ginny more as we go alone and although I hate to say it but I think in reality her reasons for drinking are very supificial and that comes out more as we go along. Thankyou for following and I hope you feel free to review and tell me more of what you think. Thanks.
Chapter 4 – Nothing to concern yourself with
Draco levitated the unconscious girl and headed quickly out of the forest. He did not want to be awake when that creature woke. He also didn’t want to be in the forest any longer than necessary. Seeing past the edge of the forest, Draco trudged his way up to the castle. All he had to do was drop her at the infirmary and leave and then he could finally make it to bed and get some sleep. ‘Shit, I can’t drop her there, a Malfoy with a blooded up Weasley is not a good look’ Draco thought to himself. ‘Well then I shall just take her back to Gryffindor and leave her there’ That was a much better plan, except that what was he going to do with her once he got to the portrait ask Potter to kindly take back his blooded up little girl friend. No, that would never work, he would get hexed and killed by the whole house. Draco was at a loss, he didn’t want to explain how he came to find her, nor did he want to be expelled. His father would be most displeased if he was expelled from school.
Draco had stopped walking by the time he got to the stairs of the castle. He needed to do something with her and she was dripping blood all over the place. He could wrap his cloak around her, but it was his good one and he wasn’t going to destroy it. Draco decided he would just clean up the trail of blood as he went, but where was he going to take her? He would just take her to Slytherin, heal her and send her on her way. That way no one would know he had been out in the forest, no one would know he saved the girl and no one would ever need to know.
He quietly opened the castle doors and headed down to the dungeons. Only once did he have to duck into a room to avoid Mrs Norris, other than that it was smooth sailing the whole way back to the common room. Draco muttered the password to Slytherin house and made his was through the deserted common room down to the room he shared with Blaise Zabini. Blaise thankfully was sound asleep when Draco entered with the still unconscious girl. Draco cast a silencing charm on his half of the room and set her down on his bed.
Draco was rather good at healing spells. But he didn’t think he could heal the whole in her arm without potions. His father had taught him as many healing spells as possible to make sure he could always help himself if he was hurt. It was one of his father’s life lessons and it had served him well. Draco really needed a blood-replenishing potion, which meant he would have to brave the potion room and try and get one out of his godfather’s store. He healed the minor bruises and scratches with a flick of his wand. It was the whole in her arm that was going to be much harder to heal.
Draco left his room again. He was fairly sure that Weasley would stay unconscious. Draco made his was out of Slytherin house and back down the corridor to the potions room. He opened the classroom door and opened it carefully. His breathing sounded loud enough to wake the dead, but he ignored all danger and continued on into the room.
A lamp flared as he past it. Draco gasped at the sudden brightness and stayed perfectly still. He did not want to get caught.
When nothing happened Draco continued his silent journey across the room. When he made it to the potion’s storeroom he breathed a sigh of relief. Trying the door he found it locked just as he suspected it would be. With a few complicated flicks of his wand and a few quietly murmured words Draco had the door open.
He quietly took in the alphabetically sorted shelves and saw what he needed. Flesh-O-Grow. It looked foul and Draco was rather glad he would not have to take it. The next potion he went looking for was a revival potion, so he wouldn’t have to waste one of his own. Draco figured that if you were going to get caught for one you might as well be caught for two. But there was none. Draco sighed. He would have to use one of his own and he was not happy about it. He used those potions to stay up and study before exams and now he would have to buy more before the end of term arrived.
Draco took a quick look to see if there was anything else in the storeroom that would be of help. The blood-replenishing potion stared back at him and he snatched one off the shelf. There was nothing, so he pocketed the potion he had and smirked to himself. It had been really too easy to get into the potion supplies. Turning to leave he gasped and almost dropped his wand.
“Well now this is interesting” Drawled Severus Snape, the most feared teacher in Hogwarts.
“Hello Uncle Severus” Draco tried lamely.
Severus just lifted an eyebrow in response. “Now what are you doing here?”
“Nothing” Draco tried to smile innocently, but failed
“Acio potion” Severus had his wand pointed directly at Draco’s pocket and there was nothing he could do to stop the two potions leaving his body. “Flesh Grow and a blood replenishing draft” Severus looked at his godson with a questioning look. “Now what do you want this for?”
“Nothing, just helping someone out”
Severus laughed. It was dark and humourless. Draco glared at his godfather.
“Here I thought you were a decent Slytherin, apparently I was wrong”
Draco continued to glare. He didn’t like his association with his house being questioned by anyone, not even his head of house.
“You did not answer my question Draco”
There it was. His first name. When Severus used it, it always made Draco feel like he was letting his godfather down personally.
“Saving my own skin” Draco answered dryly
“Who and why?”
“Someone I didn’t hurt but as I found her I would have been blamed. If I solve the small problem, soon, then I will not be in the firing line”
“Her… interesting” Severus paused thoughtfully. Severus was impressed Draco was trying to help someone. “You are going to avoid answering my questions, aren’t you?”
“Yes”
“I shall be watching you. You better hope that what you have said is the truth or there will be trouble. Malfoy or not.”
Draco nodded, once. “Good night Professor”
“Good night Draco. Be cautious”
Severus handed back the two potions and watched his godson hurry out of the room. Severus would never understand the younger man. Draco seemed to be a contradiction. Everything he did was different, there was no true cause or motivation. To Severus it almost seemed like Draco simply did what he felt like when he felt like it. But Draco did have the luxury of a name and money, two things Severus never had.
Once Draco had his two potions firmly in his hands he quickly left the potions room.
He was very pleased to see the girl on his bed was still passed out when he returned to his room.
He slapped her, hard. Ginny stirred and Draco used that to poor the two potions down her throat. Ginny settled again after being forced to swallow.
Draco however started with a flesh mending charm. The charms added to the potion and made the work move more quickly. It was a painful process and a slow one, even with the combination of the potion and the charm. What Draco was doing was growing the flesh back and then knitting the flesh back together. Draco was sure Weasley was glad to be unconscious for this, it took about fifteen minutes for the spell to have finished working, Draco then continued with a variation of the same spell to make sure her skin covered the wound. He wasn’t sure if she would have a scar and he didn’t care, at least she was no longer bleeding all over his bed. A quick cleaning spell on her showed just how ruined her robe and uniform was, but that wasn’t his problem.
Going to his cupboard Draco removed a sobering potion and a reviving potion. He went back to her and slapped her again, more softly. When she stirred he first quickly poured the revival potion into her mouth, she quickly woke with a gasp and he poured the sobering potion into her mouth as well. The stupid girl had cost him quite a few galleons in potions now, but he was willing to do anything to get her out of his room as soon as possible. She was now sitting on his bed with her head between her hands, Draco was going to give her a moment before quickly getting rid of her. He turned and took of his cloak setting it over the chair at his desk, he turned and wanted to scream. The Weasley had curled up on his bed, clutching his pillow and was sleeping. Draco couldn’t believe this was happening to him, he shook her and she murmured ‘go away’ and continued to sleep. Draco shook her again, harder that the first time and she simply pulled the pillow over her head and continued to sleep on.
“Fan-fucking-tastic” Draco swore out loud. But he was tired and almost confused by his actions, so he decided to give up and just sleep. Draco was so relieved professor Snape had not pushed the point. He was sure that not even his head of house would have believed he had nothing to do with Weasley’s injuries. Draco headed over to the lounge in his room and removed a blanket from the cupboard, curled up and went to sleep without any further thought.
*~*~*~*~*~*
Draco awoke early the next morning. He always rose with the sun no matter what time he went to bed. It was part of his preference to see more of the day light hours and less of the night time hours. Draco showered and dress before Blaise would be up, as was usual. He entered his room and went over to the still sleeping figure of Ginny Weasley. He shook her not too carefully and she woke with moaning and telling him to go away, of course she called him some girls name he didn’t know. He shook her again and she slapped his hand. That was it for Draco. “Get Up Weasley”
Ginny jumped up and immediately fell to the floor.
“Careful Weasel, you lost a lot of blood”
“You sobered me up?”
“Of course, you were drunk and passed out”
Ginny stood carefully, looked at the state of her robes and remembered what had happened the night before. Ginny looked up at Draco “Thankyou”
“You owe me” Draco commented in response.
“I owe you nothing Malfoy.”
The unlikely pair stared at each other for a moment before Ginny put her head in her hands. Her head hurt so badly and her limbs felt like they had been shredded.
She looked up at the older Slytherin
”You chose to follow me, you could have left me.”
“You are a pureblood”
“Well no need to concern yourself in the future, and I don’t owe you. But you can stop following me.”
“No”
“Malfoy I am warning you, stop following me. And I could have looked after myself last night I didn’t need you” Ginny said in a voice that could have been mistaken for a hiss.
“You are just a silly little girl, if I had not saved you, you would have died”
“I am not a silly little girl Malfoy. You and everyone else should learn that before I prove it to you”
“Feel free to prove it little girl” Draco smirked at her
Ginny stepped forward and slapped Draco as hard as she could. He just smirked at her again. “Did I hit a sore point” Draco almost cooed at her. Draco watched her put her head into her hands “Did you have to give me that damn potion, now I feel like shit”
“Language Weasley”
“Stuff it Malfoy” With that Ginny went to leave but a hand stopped her. “What do you want Malfoy?” He was still smirking
“You are in Slytherin, you can hardly walk through the common room and just leave now can you?”
“Why afraid people will think you have been consorting with a Gryffindor and a Weasley?”
“Weasley lets not make this worse than it is. I saved you, you feel like shit and I now have to deal with the fact I bothered for such a weak child and you are in the middle of enemy territory, so just put this on and lets go” Draco thrust a Ravenclaw robe at her. Ginny put it on still fuming at him, if only she had her wand. She pulled the hood over her hair “Lets go so we can forget this ever happened”
With that they both left his room and walked through the common room. Once outside Ginny went to remove the cloak but Draco stopped her “keep it, I can’t remember who’s it is anyway”
With that Draco returned into the common room leaving the stunned and sore Weasley standing in the dungeons. She walked her way back to Gryffindor feeling terrible and just wanting to die.
*~*~*~*~*~*
Ginny made it back to the common room and back to her room and into bed without anyone noticing. Ginny felt like her head was going to explode, she never sobered herself after drinking. Ginny found it easier to get on with the day if she had something to concentrate on other than her thoughts. Now she felt unable to move, to think about anything other than last night and this morning. The questions were running through her mind:
Why did Ron and his friends treat her like she was a helpless child?
Why did Ron presume he could tell her what she could and couldn’t do?
What were they talking about before she came up to them?
What didn’t they want her to know?
Why did their opinions and attitudes affect her so badly?
Why did they think she was a little girl?
Why did she want to have that first drink?
Why did she drink so much?
What was Malfoy playing at?
Why was he following her?
Who put him up to it?
What was he gaining out of it?
Why save her?
What did he mean by ‘you’re a pureblood’?
Was she is some type of trouble?
Was something going on with Malfoy again that she should know about?
The questions were endless. The questions hurt her head more than anything else. But as she lay there other pains started to invade her senses as well. Her arm hurt and there now appeared to be a scar on her right arm. A bruise on her bottom, one Malfoy obviously didn’t heal and her leg also had some minor scratches and bruises, but all of those things were really only minor stinging and pains. The real question that continued to play through her head was why was Malfoy being nice? It wasn’t like he was being really nice, he was just not being completely awful to her. Ginny made no mistakes she still knew he was rude, obnoxious and a complete git. But he had talked to her nicely when she saw him watching her and then he saved her last and this morning, besides a few rude comments, he was helpful and generally civil to her. What was he up to?
Ginny needed to make sure she understood what he was using her for. She would not make the same mistake twice. If Malfoy wanted to try and use her for something, let him, Ginny knew she would have to find away to use it against him because he wasn’t going to give up. Giving up was not in the nature of a Slytherin or a Malfoy.
Thankyou all for reading and I hope you are enjoying the story. If not drop me a line and tell me about it! Thanks!!!!!
