-chapter five-

Harry woke up half dressed, covered in sweat, and screaming on the top of his lungs. “I DIDN’T DO IT VERNON!!!” he yelled as he bolted upright in the bed. “I didn’t do it. I didn’t touch him. It was Voldemort, Vernon. It wasn’t me. I…” Harry sobbed into the sheets that had pooled around his waist in his sudden movements. “I didn’t do it…” he sobbed.

A knock on his front door caught his attention, despite its subtlety and softness. Climbing out of bed, not caring he was wearing only his khakis, which were hanging dangerously low on his hips, he padded his way to the door. Opening it while muttering the spell to unlock it, he looked up at Alexia. “Yes Alexia?”

“Hey sweetie. I thought you could use some food. I figure you haven’t eaten since lunch the other day when I took you to the diner. It’s around one thirty so Chinese would be okay right?” She held up the bag with the leftovers from her meal and offered it to him.

He chuckled and stepped back, letting Alexia in. “I had breakfast yesterday for the record,” he called over his shoulder as he walked into the kitchen and grabbed two glasses from the cabinet. “Water or iced tea, Alexia?”

“Is the tea spiked?” Alexia teased as she pulled out what appeared to be her entire meal and set it up on the table. She had, in fact, ordered the food for the two of them to go and picked it up.

Harry glared over his shoulder, his hair covering half his half, and smirked. “It’s green tea with honey and ginseng. I could add lemon if you want.”

“Nah, tea is fine. Though you should have some water. You need to flush out all that alcohol you had last night.” She seated herself at the table and smiled softly as Harry sat down across from her, placing the two glasses in their appropriate places. “Thanks.”

Harry nodded and put on a fake smile. “Don’t mention it and please, not now. I don’t want to talk about last night or what happened with Vernon. It’s bad enough I still wake up screaming his name more than I scream Voldemort’s. And that is quiet a sad thing to be saying since Voldemort has tormented and tortured me far more than Vernon has… er, had.”

“For someone who doesn’t want to talk about anything you sure are telling me a lot.” Alexia commented as she leaned forward to eat the chunk of shrimp that was balancing itself between the chop sticks. “And why didn’t you get me a fork?”

Harry glanced up and chuckled as a fork popped into view in front of her. “You didn’t ask.”

Alexia rolled her eyes. “You are simply the most … geez Harry.” She paused and gazed at the man sitting across from her. She took in the heavy bags under his eyes and the sheen of his skin. She remembered the first day he had moved in to the complex; she had been the first of the current three residents. He had looked haggard; completely run down and looking for a place to finally be free.

Harry looked up, obviously not eating his food, and gazed back at Alexia. “Simply the most what, reclusive wizard you’ve ever met?”

“Actually I would reserve that to Draco Malfoy. The guy’s actually been spotted in the Wizarding world as of this morning.” She smirked and took a drink of tea. “But that wasn’t what I was going to say. I was going to say the most interesting man I have ever met. But hey, who am I to say if you are interesting or not?”

Harry paused at her statement. “Right back at you Alexia. Though you are the most interesting woman I have ever met.” He smiled for the first time since they sat down and began to eat.

After about fifteen minutes of dreadful silence Alexia cleared her throat.

“Yes Alexia, I’m going out tonight.” Harry replied before stuffing lo mien into his mouth. “To that club that’s open to both ends if you must know.” He looked up and pointedly answered her next question. “And no I won’t use my magic this time. I won’t get drunk enough to get myself fondled.” His grinned faltered and he stared at his plate, nauseated. “Excuse me a moment.” He bolted from the table and ran to the bathroom, immediately vomiting the meal.

Alexia stood up and followed him to the bathroom. “You poor thing.” She knelt on the floor behind him and pulled his hair away from his face. “Maybe you should stay home tonight. I can get some movies and we can have a movie night if you’d like.” She drew circles on his back as he started dry heaving. “Harry, stop. Harry!”

Gasping for breath Harry sat back on his heels and collapsed into Alexia’s lap. Tears coursed down his cheeks. “Alexia… I think I’m sick.” He flicked his gaze up to hers as she brushed hair from his face.

“So we’ll stay in tonight. Anything particular you want to watch?” Alexia peered down at the man lying in front of her.

He shook his head. “Pick something good. I think I’m gonna go take a shower and change. You can leave the food; I’ll clean it up afterwards. Come back in an hour?”

“And you’ll be okay?”

Harry nodded and pushed himself off the floor. Grasping the sink for balance he smiled faintly and moved to get the shower ready. “See you in an hour.”

“Okay.” Alexia stood up and walked out of the bathroom, closing the door behind her. She went to grab her purse in time to pick up her phone. “Hello?”

“Lexie! It’s Drake. How are you girl?” Draco’s enthusiastic voice filtered through the phone.

“Hey Drakie! I’m good. What about yourself?” she answered, suddenly excited to hear from her friend.

“Meh, I’ve been better but hey, Eien and I are gonna go to a club tonight. Wizard and Muggle friendly of course so Eien will be able to blend in. Wanna come with?” Draco asked, obviously energetic about the evening.

“Can’t dear. I promised a friend that I would spend the night with him. He’s a bit ill. So tonight we are watching some movies. Poor thing.” She glanced towards the bedroom, whose door was open so she was able to hear the thud from the bathroom. “Hold on a sec.” She walked towards the bathroom door and knocked. “Are you okay in there Harry?” A muffled yes greeted her ears and she turned away from the door. “Sorry about that.”

“Harry huh? This wouldn’t be the same Harry that you are constantly spending time with is it?” Draco\'s teasing voice laughed through the phone.

“Yes it is you goof. What of it?” Alexia grabbed her purse and left the room, closing the door behind her.

“Just curious. I really wanna meet this guy. See if he’s good enough for my Lexie.” Draco teased.

“He’s fine. Why don’t you swing by my place and I’ll introduce you two. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind.”

“Great! I’ll be there in about thirty minutes. Eien! Give me back that glitter!” Draco’s voice faded from the phone as he moved to grab the container of silver glitter from the tiny dragon.

“You gay futz.” Alexia teased. “See you in thirty minutes Drakie.”

“Yea. Thirty minutes. Got it! See you then. Get back here Eien!” Draco hung up and lunged for the dragon.

“I wonder…” Alexia made her way to her flat and let herself in. “This should be interesting.”
