The Lost Potter

Chapter 5: At Home

James and Lily walked into their house with their baby boy. They were both upset over their loss of Isabelle 6 days ago. There was a rustling in their house.

"Some one is in here," Lily whispered.

"I'll go and have a look." James put down the baby basket and walked into the lounge room.

"SURPRISE!" a group of people shouted. James and Lily jumped.

"Where's the baby?" Danni asked. Lily walked into the room holding Harry in her arms.

"Oh there he is!" Jane squealed running over to Lily, Danni following her. Sirius and Remus walked up to James.
w arw are you feeling?" Danni asked Lily.

"Oh fine. A little tired though," Lily lied slightly.

"You should be." Jane played with the little baby's hands.

"He's a butte," Sirius shouted over them.

"Shhhh Padfoot! We just got him to sleep," James hissed.

"Oh sorry," Sirius apologised.

"I got him a present." Remus handed James a brown teddy with a blue tie.

"Thanks Moony." James took the bear in to his hands.

"Why don't you all sitn, In, I'll go and make some tea." Lily gave Harry to Danni. "Don't wake him."

"I won't." Danni walked over to a couch and sat down. Lily felt again as thought Harry was being taken away from her this time but he wasn't and Isabelle wasn't taken away from her. Lily decided to give her up. Lily walked into the kitchen and began to make some tea. James sat on the couch next to Sirius looking a little glum. Remus Danni and Jane were looking at the baby.

"What's wrong mate? You just had a kid. You sh be be happy." Sirius slapped James' back.

"Yeah I know. I'm just a little tired." James ruffled his hair. "It's been a hectic week."

"I guess it would be."

"Remus do you want to hold Harry?" Jane asked.

"Yeah." Remus sat dowd hed held out his arms. Jane handed him over to Remus. "Thanks."

"He's every bit of you James," Danni smiled.

"Thanks Dan." James lifted up his head and smiled back. While Remus, Danni and Jane fawned over baby, Harry James and Sirius sat back.

"I'll go and have a look at him." Sirius moved over to the other couch and sat next to Remus. James watched as his son was passed on to his mate.

Lily walked into the lounge room with a tray of cups and a pot of tea. She watched her friends admire her and James' now only child. She put the tray down on the coffee table.

"Tea everyone?" Lily asked.

"Yes please," they all replied. Lily began pouring little cups of tea for everyone.

"I'll take Harry up to his room so he can sleep." Lily softly took Harry out of Sirius' arms and walked up the staircase and to the first room next to the stairs. She opened the door to reveal a bright yellow room with one wall covered in blue with white clouds and a sun. There was only one cot in the room, a changing bed and a shelf full of toys that she and James had bought over 6 months of her pregnancy.

Lily felt sad that there was only one bed when there should really be two. She looked down at her sleeping boy as she slowly walked towards the cot. She put him into the cot softly and tucked him in to his blue blankets. She watched him for a while not realizing that tears were falling from her eyes. She was still very delicate over Isabelle. Lily slowly sat down on the floor and watched her son sleep as she cried.

"Lily is taking a while," Danni said.

"She's probably fixing up the room. You know Lils." James didn't look up from his tea.

"Can I go up there? I haven't seen Harry's room yet." Danni put down her tea.

"Yeah sure." James nodded. "First door at the top of the staircase."

"Thanks." Danni stood up and walked up stairs. She heard sobs from the other side of the door. "Lily?" Danni slowly pushed opened the door and saw Lily sitting on the floor sobbing. "Lils what's wrong?" Danni rushed over to Lily.

"Dan!" Lily sobbed. She looked up at her best friend.

"Come here." Danni wrapped her arms around Lily. Danni rubbed Lily's back to make her feel more comfortable.

"Danni I have to tell you something but you have to promise not to tell anyone else," Lily murmured as her sobbing stopped.

"Tell me what it is." Danni sat down next to Lily.

"I had twins. A girl called Isabelle. James and I had to give her away." Lily wiped away her tears.

"Oh Lily! Why did you give her away?" Danni said sadly.

"Because it wasn't safe for her," Lily sniffed.

"You stupid tart." Danni joked and pulled Lily into another embrace. Lily began to cry again.

"I miss her so much Dan. It kills me to know that she isn't here. James hates me for what I made him do. He won't show it but I know he does and I know he blames me for everything. She's always on my mind and it hurts Dan it hurts so much that I want to die."

"Lily. You have Harry to look after. You can't be sad all of his life. You'll make his life sad of you do. You have made a mistake that you can't erase and now you're left with one kid, Harry. You have to make his life a good one. You have to treat him like he is your only child." Danni insisted. "You can't go on like this especially not around Harry. He needs to see happiness as a child not sadness."

"I know I know but I don't know if I can do it," Lily sobbed on to her friends shoulder.

"Well if you're the Lily I know then you can do anything," Danni smiled.

"Thanks Dan."

"Come, you've been up here for a long while now." Danni stood up and pulled Lily up with her. "I'll help you as much as you want," Danni assured.

"Thanks Dan, really I needed someone to talk to."

"You can always talk to me." Danni took Lily's hand and looked down at Harry. "He is your life now. You do what ever you can to make his life good. You got me?"

"Yeah I've got you," Lily nodded.

"Good. I'm sure that Isabelle would be just like you. Wonderful girl in every single way.”

"Thanks Dan." Lily hugged Danni again.

"You're welcome. Now we better get going downstairs." Danni walked downstairs with Lily.

"Ah there you are Lily," Remus grinned. "You took your time up there."

"Well you know perfect Lily - she had to fix up the room." Danni lied. James looked at his wife, he knew what she was doing, he could tell. Lily sat down next to James. James grabbed her hand and squeezed it tight.

"Harry is so perfect." Jane said excitedly.

"We know." Remus, Sirius, Danni and James retorted. Having heard Jane say that over and over again.
