Oath
Narcissa could not believe his audacity.
She was his wife. The mother of his child, the heir to his line, a woman with impeccable lineage and taste. She was royalty in a world contaminated by blood traitors and mudbloods, imbeciles and weaklings.
If she lacked the warmth of a mate she more than made up for it by bringing her strength and will.
She was Narcissa Fucking Malfoy, survivor of not one but two bloody wars.
Her husband overstepped every kind of boundary, breaking simple etiquette, and insulting her in front of her servants the moment he chose to bring his slut into her house.
He did not inquire over the near-fatal injury he had given to her. Nor did he inquire over the health of his son, who even now could be bleeding to death.
He carried that fucking slut into her home and then demanded that she save her life.
Narcissa tolerated many things from her over the years, but this was it.
‘If you do not leave, and take your whore with you, then I shall make you wish you were never born.’ Her voice was polite, belying her rage.
Unlike the beast in the Blood Forest, the man before her was still and unemotional, his features impossibly calm for someone about to die.
She hoped his final minutes were painful because if you multiplied that by a thousand he still would not come within a mile of the torment he had heaped upon her for the past twenty four years.
‘If she dies, I will.’
She shrugged.
‘I will give you one of our children.’
Her jaw dropped. Incredulous, she turned to face him, ‘You dare—‘
‘I have little love for them. She can have more. But I will give one or two or both if you assist me. Her injuries are internal, and the house elf will not be able to heal what he cannot see.’
She placed her hands on her hips.
She wanted to laugh.
This…creature was her husband.
‘I want you to swear a wizard’s oath.’
She would enjoy this. She knew that Lucius would not barter with something he had an attachment for. Draco was his firstborn, his heir---all else was nothing.
‘I want you to swear to give up any right to them. To both of them. I will take them. You will then take your whore and never darken my doorway again.’
He shook his head, ‘I cannot give you Malfoy Manor. It is not mine to give.’
She was furious, but knew he spoke the truth. Malfoy Manor could only belong to someone with the Malfoy blood in their veins—
‘I will give it to Draco, and if he chooses, he can give it to the boys.’
Narcissa rubbed her hands together. She could feel her own nature warming at the idea of depriving the little whore of her children.
‘Do they have that awful red hair?’
‘No.’
‘Agreed then. Swear it now. Before she dies of her miscarriage,’ She scented the air again, ‘yes, a miscarriage. What a bad man you are, Lucius…’
He did not even hesitate, ‘I make a wizard’s oath, to give Narcissa Malfoy full parental rights over my children, Caelum and Cepheus Malfoy, as well as give Malfoy Manor to Draco Malfoy, on the condition that Narcissa Malfoy provide necessary medical attention to my mate.’
Narcissa smiled, her first dazzling smile in days, ‘Well then, let’s save the traitor’s life….’
