Chapter 3

Chapter 3

By the time Hermione awoke it was night and the moon was shining brightly in the sky above. She had about a million questions flying through her mind at once like, where are we sailing?, what do they want with me?, how do I escape?. She also took the time to observe her captors and the rest of her surroundings when a flyaway thought crept into her mind that the tall man wasn’t half bad looking. No wait where in the hell did that come from? Her inner voice was screaming at her. Just as she was starting an argument inside her mind Crabbe’s talking started to drift into her ears.

“We’ll reach the cliffs by dawn.”

Crabbe looked over to Harry who was sitting on the back of the boat looking behind them.

“Why are you doing that?” questioned Crabbe.

“I’m just making sure no one’s following us.” came Harry’s reply.

Annoyance was starting to creep into Crabbe’s voice, “That would be inconceivable. No one in Guilder knows what we’ve down, and no one in Florin could have gotten here so fast.” he stated confidently, but then said, “Out of curiosity why do you ask?”

“I just happened to look behind me and something is there.” replied Harry calmly.

This got everyone’s attention real quick. Harry went back to staring behind him while Crabbe walked over to join him, Hagrid leaned over the side of the boat to get a better look.

“It’s probably some local fisherman out for a pleasure cruise at night… through eel infested waters.” Cratrietried to sound dismissive.

Taking this grand opportunity of inattentiveness by her captors Hermione dove over the edge of the boat with a splash. The men soon refocused their attention from the boat behind them to where Hermione was currently trying to swim away.

Crabbe looked at Harry and said, “Well go in get after her.”

To which Harry came back and said, “I don’t swim.”

Crabbe then looked to Hagrid. “I only dog-paddle.” came the reply.

A frustrated noise came from Crabbe before he responded. “Veer left. Left, left.”

Hermione had stopped swimming by then when she had heard a screeching type sound in the water with her.

Crabbe had started talking to her. “Do you know what that sound is highness? Those are the shrieking eels. If you don’t believe me just wait, they always grow louder when they’re about to feed on human flesh.”

That comment seriously bothered Hermione. At this point in time she wished she had actually stayed on the boat instead of trying to swim away. Not ten seconds after that thought her mind went blank as she saw an eel heading her way. Hermione was preparing herself for the worst when she saw Hagrid punch the eel on it’s head before it could get Hermione. She also found herself lifted out of the water and being set down in the boat.

“I suppose you think your brave?” Crabbe was speaking to her.

“Only compared to some.” was all she could reply with.
