Severus summoned the elf with a sense of forboding. He had questions about the bonding rituals and needed them answered before long from what he saw of the state of Hermione\'s choker. It kept on constricting her throat whenever she felt fear or even a little reluctance concerning the bonding. His ring constricted too, but how could that compare to the pain of having one\'s throat tightened about by metal? Severus needed to find a solution soon.
The household elves appeared ceremoniously.
"Master Snape, sir," said Ginger, the oldest of the elves. Severus actually did not knnow how old he actually was as house elves all tended to appear old and wrinkly, but as perhaps the wrinkliest of them all, Severus had long a go accepted that to get any household matters done, he had to go through Ginger.
"Ginger," Severus said. "Tell me what the bonding requires."
It was simple. Yet absurd. The bonding required a nightly consummation for a month until conception of an heir became apparent.
"A month?" cried Severus in the rare occasion he lost his cool collection.
"Yes, a month, master," said Ginger. "And no less."
Severus didn\'t know what to think of as he had anticipated a consummation of sorts yes, but a night of duty was all he had expected. A month seemed like forever.
