Epilogue

To whom it may concern,

If you are receiving this then you are cordially invited to the birthday party of Rex James Riddle. The birthday shall be held on June the 12th at Riddle Manor. For those of you interested in a marriage contract with young Master Riddle please bring said contracts to this event. If you fail to comply your heir shall not be considered.

With do haste,

Lord Voldemort and Bonded

“Why isn’t my name in the invitation?”

Lord Voldemort snorts as he buttons up his silver and black robe. “Harry, my sweet, you know how traditional these events are. The whole wizarding world knows that you are my bonded so it is not necessary.”

Harry flushes angrily but he doesn’t say anything more. His absence from the invitation is not his real battle. “My Lord, I am not exactly…comfortable with our son having a marriage contract. I believe that he has a right to fall in love.”

Voldemort snorts again before meeting Harry’s gaze with his own, “Love?” the man says thoughtfully, “was love so wonderful when it turned on you and nearly killed our child?”

Harry flushes in anger and shame at the memory but that doesn’t deter him from his goal. “Yes, and you made sure that Ronald Weasley paid with his life for the transgression. I was young and foolish in my love, my Lord. However, with you as James Father I am sure that he shall have more sense than I.”

Voldemort lets out a soft chuckle as he walks over to Harry, “That is true. However Rex knows what is expected of him and he shall fulfill his duty to his name and his station.”

Harry lets out a sigh of defeat before flopping down on the bed. “Just…just let me have a say in James future spouse. Aye, my Lord?”

“You are Rex’s Father as well; I will not bar you from the decision. Now come,” Voldemort says as he holds his hand out to his spouse. “The tailor will be here shortly to fit Rex for his birthday robes. He must look like the little prince that he is.”

“King,” Harry mutters under his breath as Voldemort leads him from the room.

“What was that, my love?” the Dark Lord asks Harry as they make their way to the entrance hall.

“King. You mean to say that he must look like the little king that he is. That is, after all, why you named him Rex.”

“Indeed it is, sweet Harry. We know of Rex’s rightful place and it is only fitting that the world should know. It amazes me still that you call our son by that pet name of yours.”

“It’s his middle name. My Father’s name.”

“Yes, however Rex is more befitting of a son of mine.”

“Ours,” Harry says softly.

“Aye,” Voldemort says, pressing a soft kiss to Harry’s lips. “You are right, my love—ours.”

***

“Potter!”

Harry turns sharply. It has been years since anyone had called him by that name, not since he had married Voldemort. When Harry sees who has called him by his maiden name his mouth nearly falls open in shock.

“Surprise, surprise,” the pale blond whispers out.

Harry eyes fill with tears of old pain and happiness as he runs over to Draco, wrapping his arms around the blond in a tight hug—a not so tight hug due to the distended belly between the two of them.

“Are you…?” Harry asks, green eyes wide open in shock.

Draco lets out a soft laugh as Harry takes a step back, “Aye, my Lord. Severus says I’m due nearly any day now.”

“You don’t have to call me that. I am not your Lord.”

“Yes, that is true,” Draco says, biting his bottom lip softly. “You are, however, my Lord’s spouse. I can’t very well call you my Lady, now can I?”

Harry laughs at the incredulous look on Draco’s face before walking them over to a secluded area. The place gave them a bit of privacy as well as letting him keep a good eye on James. “You can call me Harry you know.”

“I couldn’t possibly be so familiar with you, my Lord.”

“That, however, is what friends do. They call each other by their first names.”

Draco faces goes a bit pale and Harry can see Draco’s hands clenched tightly in his lap, “My Lord, I wish to apologize about…”

“Draco, it is perfectly alright. I am the one who should apologize. I accosted you, and when you did not take well to my advances I ignored you. I threw away one of the deepest and most cherished friendships I’ve ever had. Even though it has been nearly six years, I am sorry. I hope that my apology isn’t too late and that…perhaps we can pick up where we left off.”

The smile that Draco gives Harry reassures all of his fears and Harry lets out a breath he wasn’t even aware he was holding. “Yes, Harry, I would like that very much. I have missed your company over the years. Come, we have much to catch up on.”

Harry returns Draco’s smile with one of his own, looping his arm through the blond’s as the very pregnant Malfoy—no, Snape. The very pregnant Snape wobbles the two them over to the buffet table.

“What is this, Severus?”

“A marriage contract, my Lord.” Voldemort arches a questioning brow at Severus before placing the contract to the left of him. It appears to be a much smaller stack than the one on the right.

“I was not aware that you had a child, Severus.”

“Aye, my Lord, it is true. I do not have a child—yet. Draco, my spouse is currently heavy with child and due any moment.”

Voldemort sits up straighter in his seat, red eyes burrowing into Snape’s. “What is the sex?”

“It is female, my Lord.”

“Where is Lucius? I am surprised he is not here helping you press your case.”

“My Father in law,” both Voldemort and Severus lets out a soft chuckle at that term, “believes that I am most able to persuade my Lord using my own abilities. He feels that his presence is…unnecessary.”

“He’s testing you to see if you can provide for the next Malfoy heir.”

“Aye, that is correct my Lord.”

Voldemort hums softly to himself before his eyes turn to gaze at his son. The black haired green eyed boy is currently riding on a toy broom with a small herd of children chasing after him. Even with the childish glee contorting his face his son looks every inch of his name—Rex, the king. And who would make a better spouse for his son than a child of the Prince and Malfoy line?

“I will think over your proposal, Severus.”

Severus nods his head in understanding but both men know that the Dark Lord has already made his decision.

Harry is in his son’s room playing exploding snaps with the five year old boy when Voldemort bursts into the room. “Come Harry, bring Rex, we have no little time.”

Immediately Harry jumps up from the floor, hurriedly putting a light cloak on his son who turns up his nose and protests loudly what he deems to be smothering. “What is it, my Lord? Is there an emergency?”

“Our son’s wife is about to be born into this world and it is in very bad taste not to be there for the ceremony.”

The walk to the floo is quick and in less than two minutes the Riddle family is within Malfoy Manor. Lucius greets them with a bow to his Lord and a tight smile. Voldemort can understand the look as he was in a similar position when Harry was delivering.

“Don’t worry, Lucius. Draco is from good blood, he shall make it through.”

“Aye, my Lord, that is what I have been telling my husband. But he was almost worse than this during Draco’s birth.” Narcissa’s soft voice floats from where she is sitting on a ivory settee, calmly sipping at a cuppa.

Harry joins the woman who he had lost contact with over the years. As Harry and Narcissa catch up with each other Harry is deeply ashamed of his childish behavior concerning Snape and Draco that had kept him from his family for more than half a decade. The soft chatter of the two is interrupted when Severus’ pale forms fills the doorway.

The Potions Master gives a short nod and immediately the groups follows the man up to Draco’s old room. When they enter the room they can see Draco laying on the bed, pale but smiling, as he holds a baby to his chest.

“Never has there been a more perfect Malfoy,” Harry can hear Lucius whisper out. The man’s voice is filled with awe as he stares down at the little platinum haired child.

“Would you like to hold her, Father?” Draco asks softly. Lucius nods his head and Harry is shocked to see the beginning of tears filling the proud man’s eyes. The imposing patriarch coos to the baby while he cuddles the small bundle to his chest. The newest Malfoy opens her mouth to let out a yawn before she begins to blink her eyes dazedly. Dark blue eyes stare out at the occupants in the room before she closes her eyes again. With time the blue eyes will turn either grey like Draco’s or black like Severus’.

“She’s really beautiful Draco,” Harry says, a soft smile on his lips as he stares down at the little girl. “What’s her name?”

“Regina Narcissa Snape.”

Harry lets out a soft laugh before shaking his head slightly, “Of course. Why did I even ask what her name was? She couldn’t possibly be named anything else but queen.”

Draco returns the laugh with a chuckle of his own before holding his hands out for his baby. Lucius returns his granddaughter to his son before standing next to his wife, both Malfoys looking at the Malfoy heiress with love and pride.

“Is that what I looked like when I was born?” Rex asks curiously as he looks at the little baby.

“Yes, love, you looked exactly like that.”

Rex wrinkles his nose a bit before turning to face Harry. “I don’t believe you. I could never have been that little, or that wrinkly.”

The adults in the room laugh at the incredulous look on Rex’s face. Severus turns to face Harry, his eyebrow quirked in question and Harry just shrugs his shoulders. “I daresay that I may have quite the little hellion to attend with when the boy makes his way to Hogwarts.”

Harry returns Snape’s smile with one of his own, and though nothing has been discussed about all the wrongs held between the two, Harry knows that he has forgiven Snape, just as Snape has forgiven him. It only took half a decade before the two stubborn men realized it.
