Abandoned Child

The months passed and it seemed that everyone had finally forgotten about him. For some that would be awful, but for Lucas it was his haven, to be forgotten, for no more glares to be directed his way, for no more people talking behind his back. For no more professors being cruel to him, but simply ignoring him.

His first potions lesson, Professor Snape had asked him question after question and had just gotten angrier and angrier the more answers he got right. The same happened in every class, but the professors all had different ways of getting revenge. When he got the perfect potion without a partner, because there was an odd number and no one would let him join in with another pair to make a three, Professor Snape said he was cheating and gave him a detention, after making him drink the potion, which meant that his hair turned Slytherin green and silver for 3 hours causing the Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws to laugh along with everyone else who saw him in those 3 hours. In DADA Professor Black forbid Lucas from trying the spell, saying he was too dangerous, so while everyone else was learning the spell, with Professor Black and Professor Lupin’s help, Lucas sat at a desk at the back of the room writing a five foot essay about the spell, it’s uses, the dangers of uses, what could happen if the incantation went wrong or was more powerful and so on. By the end of the lesson he had just finished in time, when Michael Potter in front of everyone threw the spell Incendio, the spell they’d been learning at Lucas’s parchment, causing it to burn up and while the students laughed, Professor Lupin gave Lucas a detention for not doing the work. In transfiguration, when he got the spell got the spell right on the first go, he was made to sit in the corner and do nothing, while everyone else learnt the spell and those who were able to do the spell, were encouraged to do the next transfiguration. The same happened in charms with Professor Evans (Lily Potter) and in Herbology, he wasn’t allowed to touch the plants saying they were one short, so he had to sit out. In Care of Magical Creatures Hagrid sent him away, saying he could just make it up, he was good at telling lies anyway and in flying lessons with Professor Potter, their weren’t enough brooms out and the professor wouldn’t go and get another one, so while everyone else got to fly, he had to sit on the grass by the wall. At the end of the first few weeks though everyone seemed to forget him and even though he got perfect marks in every subject, no one seemed to remember him. The only classes he was never victimised in even in the first few weeks were charms when Professor Flitwick taught it and then he was just ignored and DADA when Professor Quirrel taught it and after the first couple of lessons he was held behind after class and told be Professor Quirrel that if he wanted to talk he could come to him.

Near the end of the year he did talk to Professor Quirrel and was attacked, but in the middle of the attack, the third year Gryfindors and Ravenclaws walked in and Rose Potter and the other students attacked Professor Quirrel when he turned from Lucas and threw spells at them. In the end Professor Quirrel got close enough to touch Rose and he turned to ash, at her feet, making her a hero along with her brother Michael when it turned out, while Rose was defeating Professor Quirrel, Michael had got through the obstacles set by the teachers and retrieved the Philosophers stone. In all of this excitement no one missed Lucas as he was in the Hospital wing for a week due to his injuries and the end of year announcement, gave Gryffindor the House cup, thanks to Rose and Michael Potter.

However the real shock came when the end of year announcement came of the students with the best grades for each year was announced in the order from third to first and with the first years being said last.

‘‘And finally for the top three students for first year in the order from third to first’’ Dumbledore announced. ‘‘In third place Mr Draco Malfoy from Slytherin’’ causing cheers from Slytherin, ‘‘Second place to Miss Hermione Granger from Gryffindor’’ causing a deafening roar from Gryffindor, ‘‘And finally in First place with perfect scores from all classes from Ravenclaw’’ with everyone getting ready to applause and whispering and the Ravenclaws talking among themselves excitedly and when the silence descended with a clap from Dumbledore he continued ‘‘Mr Lucas Potter’’ and everyone was silent until the students started talking about how he must of cheated and Hermione should of won, but by then Lucas didn’t care and just got up and left the hall. No one even acknowledged him that night or on the Hogwarts express or on the Platform and as he got in the Dursley’s car no one saw him cringe as his Uncle pushed him into the car and hitting his head or the door slamming shut on his right hand, breaking bones.

He broke alot of bones at the Dursley’s before he went back to Hogwarts and when he returned for second year no one even realised he was there and even though he was first in second year in terms of grades by Christmas break, no one seemed to notice him.

Until after Christmas break, where he was made to go back to the Dursley’s and the Daily Prophet was delivered and on the front page were the words...
