Anywhere But Here
Chapter 4: Anywhere But Here
“Damn she’s fast,” Hermione thought to herself as she chased after Mitch trying to find out why she took off running in the first place.
Mitch was running as hard as she could trying to catch this stalker that’s been following her for the past few hours. She always knew when she was being followed she would get a feeling she likes to call it her “Spidey Sense” like what Spiderman has only a little different.
What Mitch didn’t notice was everyone else coming from the Great Hall to go to their dorms to rest for the night before classes started the next morning. Dodging students left and right while keeping her pace she surprisingly didn’t bump into anymore. Now Hermione however, rushed pass the students as well but was bumping into a few here and there.
Ignoring the confused glances on their faces Mitch continued her chase and didn’t know that Hermione was following her. Once she got passed all the students she stopped and felt some one bump into her, “Oh sorry” Hermione said.
“It’s okay,” Mitch replied not paying any mind but looking left and right trying to find her stalker.
“Mind telling me what’s going on?” Hermione asked trying to catch her breath.
“I have been being followed by some one ever since I stepped foot on that train, and I think I have a pretty good idea who it might be,” she said still looking around trying to figure out where the stalker went.
“And who might it be?”
“My psycho ex-girlfriend”
“Oh that’s pleasant to know,” she replied hotly.
“I broke up with her she was moving too fast after a month she started talking about marriage and said that she was falling in love with me. I didn’t feel the same so I broke it off” she told and started to walk back the way she came with Hermione following.
“How do you know she was following you?” Hermione asked
“I can sense it when some one’s following me. It’s like I’m being watched when I don’t want to be kinda feeling and the last time I had this feeling is when…” she trailed off
Hermione looked at her and the expression the girl had wasn’t hurt or anger it was just a look that she can’t describe. The look kind of scared her, and she hoped she didn’t see that look again. It was more of a death look like she wanted revenge on some one.
They walked in silence until they got to their dorm.
“So what should the password be?” Hermione asked
“Password? You guys don’t have like little keypads with numbers so you can type in codes to get into your room?” she asked confused.
Hermione looked at Mitch as if she grew another limb, and she was the one that became confused. They looked at each other mirroring each others confused glances. Mitch was wondering why they had passwords, while Hermione was wondering why they had keypads and codes.
“My school is so different from yours,” Mitch said breaking their silence.
Hermione nodded in agreement, “Very different”
“I want to show it to you some time”
“Sounds like an idea, but right now we need to come up with a password.”
“Well what about the other one?” Mitch asked.
“The other one is right here,” Draco said as he walked up to them.
“Hello Draco Malfoy, Head Boy,” Draco said as he held out his hand for Mitch to shake.
“Riley aka Mitch, Performer,” she said as she shook his hand.
“Great performance, do all Americans dance like you?”
Mitch laughed a little, “Not all a little less than most do though”
Hermione watched as the two continued to talk about dancing and how Draco wants Mitch to give him some dancing lessons when ever she had free time. She smiled and nodded but warned him that her dance moves are hard and that he would have to open up his mind to different kinds of music. Draco said that he didn’t mind and would love to.
After a few more moments they finally decided to make their password, “Haven” since they would have their own rooms and if this was going to be their place.
All three walked in and looked around, for Hermione and Draco the common room was smaller to Mitch it looked rather boring, “Where’s the TV, the PS3, the DVD player, CD player, the books, where is everything?” she asked looking around the room.
All she saw was a small fire place with a couch that have velvet cushions and rose wood framing and a few smaller couches surrounding a small table. There were also three little study areas one for each of them each had a chair, ink for their quills, a lamp, and a small desk.
Mitch took it all in, it was beautiful, but she was upset that there was none of anything that she had mentioned. She walked in further and looked out the window, “Can we go swimming in the lake?” she asked. Not waiting for a response she rushed up the stairs and found her room.
“There they all are,” she said with a smile as she walked into her room, she saw her flat screen TV hooked up to her DVD player on her dresser was her stereo along with her CDs. Beside her four poster bed was her guitar and her keyboard. A small bookcase for her books and also for her DVDs and more CDs, also on her dresser was her laptop.
Draco and Hermione walked into her room and saw all the electronics and they were amazed, “How are these going to work here?” Hermione asked looking a around Mitch’s room.
“Dumbledore casted a spell so that I’ll be able to use all these, it makes me feel more at home at my old school. I asked him if I could bring all this and he said that I could.” She explained as she looked through her DVDs trying to pick a movie for her to fall asleep to.
Just as Hermione was about to say something they heard some one come in through their portrait hole. All three looking confused stood there for a moment before Hermione started to walk out followed by Draco then Mitch. They walked down the stairs and into the common room where they saw a person with their back turned to them.
Mitch already knew who it was and would rather be anywhere but here right now. She stopped going down the stairs and just stood there.
The person turned around and they had a buzzed hair cut with slight bangs, bright blue eyes kind of an athletic build, and this time Hermione knew this person was a girl. She was wearing a white tank top along with blue jeans and a pair of white Vans.
“What are you doing here?!” Mitch asked in an angry voice now finally coming down the stairs walking right up to this girl.
Draco and Hermione exchanged confused glances and walked over to the couch and sat down watching the exchange between Mitch and this mystery girl.
“I came to see you silly,” the girl replied with a smile as she tried to put her arms around the taller girl.
Mitch backed away not wanting her to touch her, “How did you get here?” she asked this time getting angrier.
“How do you think?” this time the girl was smirking.
“That must be the psycho ex that Mitch was telling me about,” Hermione whispered to Draco and he just nodded and they both continued to watch the two girls talk.
“Were you the one that knocked me over earlier?” Mitch asked looking at her with angry eyes.
The girl nodded and tried to put her arms around Mitch again but she backed away, “You didn’t answer my question Jessie, what the fuck are you doing here?”
“I came to see you,”
“How did you get the password?”
“I heard you say it”
Mitch threw the DVD she was holding across the room then took a deep breath trying to get her anger under control. She did not want Jessie to be there at all, when she left the states she was hoping not to see this psycho ever again, but she guessed wrong.
“I can’t be here, I can’t” and with that Mitch stormed out of the room leaving a very confused Hermione, a thoughtful Draco, and a smiling Jessie.
Mitch wanted to be anywhere but that room right now, she couldn’t believe that Jessie had the nerve to come all this way and still think that they were together. She didn’t know where she was going until she got there. She ended up finding herself at the lake taking a look around making sure the coast was clear she pulled out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter. Taking one more glance around she pulled out one out and let it touch her lips then lit it.
She put the pack and the light back in her pocket and took a drag of her cigarette. She sighed and sat down trying to calm herself down hoping that this would just do that. Her thoughts drifted back to earlier on the train when she first laid eyes on Hermione.
She smiled when she thought about her, Mitch couldn’t help it when it came to Hermione there’s just something about her that makes her stand out. Something about her that she’s drawn to and she can’t explain how this girl is making her heart beat like this.
Taking one more drag of her cigarette she put it out and tossed the end of it, she laid back and looked up at the stars wishing that she could see Hermione right about now.
