Harbaugh Nocht
Chapter 4
Lucius held his slumbering wife in his arms as he flooed back to Hogwarts. Stepping into the Headmaster’s office he heard Prof. McGonagal arguing that Hermione must be placed in the hospital wing. Refusing to speak on so minor a detail he gestured to Draco to lead the way out of the office. Nodding to Dumbledore as he walked out the door.
“Draco walk in front of us. I don’t think anyone will be able to handle the sight of me carrying Miss Granger let alone entering my chambers with her. I must make sure that she is secured safely before I appear in the Great Hall for breakfast. “ Lucius pointed with his chin to his son. It was a good thing that his chambers were connected to his office and classroom. This way he wouldn’t be far away from her sleeping form for too long.
“Father I have many questions and I know that Granger will have many more. But what exactly will be done about her friends? They will be demanding to know what is happening.” Draco peered around the corner of the intersecting hallway. “If there is one thing I do know is that watch her fists when she wakes up. Granger packs a mean wallop. Quick behind the statue! Here comes Pansy.”
Draco leaned casually against the wall next to an ugly statue of some wizard. Taking out his wand he twirled it around his knuckles, waiting.
“I was hoping that it was Potter coming around the corner. I demand to know what you are doing up so early, Pansy. Or perchance you haven’t even made it to bed yet. You know as Head boy I really should take points for this. If you have a good story I might lower the punishment.” Straightening from his slouch he gestured to his fellow Slytherin to lead the way back to Slytherin House. As he turned the corner he signaled the all clear behind Pansy’s back.
Lucius wait a second longer for Draco to get farther down the hall before he stepped quickly from behind the statue and down the hall in the opposite direction. Looking down at the hooded face in his arms he shifted her weight higher in his arms so that he was better balanced to trot up a set of tower stairs.
Entering his bedchamber he placed Hermione on his bed, using wand less magic to draw back the covers. Standing back up he knew that he couldn’t just leave her dressed as she was. Reaching back down he pulled off her shoes, the rest of her clothes quickly following. Leaving her in her underpants he pulled the covers up to her chin with a trembling hand. Quickly recovering his composure he turned and quickly prepared for the day ahead of him. Leaving his room he added extra wards to his chambers. Especially one that alerted him incase she woke up ahead of schedule.

“Hi Ginny. Have you seen Hermione this morning?” Harry smiled at Ginny Weasley when she climbed onto the bench across from Harry and her brother, Ron.
“Yeah, have you seen her?” Ron spoke around a mouthful of food. “We haven’t seen her since we went down to the village yesterday. She was supposed to meet us so that we could celebrate her birthday.” Swallowing the food in his mouth he grabbed his goblet of pumpkin juice for a drink.
Wrinkling her nose at her brother she turned to Harry, “No I haven’t seen her this morning. Maybe she got caught up in the library on a subject.” Turning back to her brother, “I was with you yesterday waiting for her, remember? I swear sometimes Ron, you act like the garden gnomes raised you, the way you eat.”
Ginny paused for a moment to look around the table and said hello to all her friends. She could almost pinpoint the moment that he entered the room. Thinking quietly as she sternly told herself not to turn around and gape, she tried to nonchalantly watch over Harry’s should over to the Slytherin table. There was just something about Malfoy. The younger Malfoy, that is. She knew that she really shouldn’t but she couldn’t help but be fascinated yet angry with herself over him. There was only one other person who knew this deep secret and she knew that that cat would never meow. Thinking of that person Ginny frowned in concern. Ginny made a metal note to track down Hermione right after breakfast to make sure that she had just slept in because of studying late into the night.
The Hall grew quiet as the new DADA teacher walked in the doors. You could almost hear half the girls in the room sigh. Majority of whom were stationed at Slytherin table. Ginny even knew that a part of the girls not openly crushing on Prof. Malfoy were secretly members of the Malfoy fan club. The girls could keep better track of both Malfoys’ than the elves. Ginny was the one to know this because she had an inside track. She was the secret president of said club, therefore she knew each and every member from the seventh years down to one single first year. The only reason the first year was a member was because she had two older sisters who were members. Chuckling to herself she remembered when Pansy joined the club. Pansy, the twit tried to take over the club by conducting a ‘coo’. It took Pansy two months to stop from batting her eyes at Goyle from the curse Ginny sent in retaliation. Ginny looked up at the Slytherin table, yep there was Goyle trying to put his arm around Pansy. ‘Poor Goyle,’ as she watched Goyle crash to the bench from the shove Pansy gave him. ‘I think I will have to help him get a girlfriend as a form of an apology for the trick he was unknowingly a part of.’
Turning her astute eyes towards the Head Table she watched the professors talk quietly among themselves. First she watched Malfoy and Snape. Those two were deep in conversation, their heads tilted towards each other. McGonagal was talking furiously in Dumbledore’s ear as Dumbledore watched the students go about the business of fueling for the day. Hagrid was smiling happily at something that Prof. Sprout was joking about. Turning her attention back to Malfoy and Snape, an inner sensor went off. ‘Something up there, I just know it.’ Narrowing her eyes she made another mental note to check the fan vine for the where-abouts of those two for the last couple days. Looking towards the younger Malfoy she added him to her list. Wiping her mouth with her napkin she got up.
“I’m going to go look for Hermione, are you coming?” She waited for Harry and Ron’s answer.
“Sorry, can’t, we have quidditch practice again.” Harry apologized.
“Yeah we got to be prepared to beat the brooms from beneath Slytherin in a couple weeks. We are going over a little early so that I, um, we can work on some moves for the game.” Ron spoke. He wasn’t even watching what he was eating now as he watched another sixth year girl over at Hufflepuff table smile then bat her eyes at him.
“Alright then I’ll do it alone then. Harry please makes sure that Ron doesn’t choke. My Mum wouldn’t be happy if he choked because he was paying more attention to a girl than his plate for once.” Ginny reached over and grabbed the cherry seeds from Ron’s hand that he was raising to his mouth.
The girl over at Hufflepuff giggled as she covered her mouth to speak to her friend. Ginny got up and walked out of the Hall back to the dormitories to look for the missing Hermione.

Having looked in all the known spots that Hermione could be found. Ginny walked out of the Prefect’s bathroom to find a smirking Pansy waiting for her. Ginny raised an eyebrow in question.
“Dumbledore wants you, Potter and that dimwitted brother of your to go to his office. Snape says that the Headmaster has a serious matter to discuss with you three. OOOh maybe I should help you find your way there.” Laughing Pansy waited for Ginny’s reaction.
Looking at the twit, Ginny debated how to handle Pansy. Deciding that ignoring her antics would annoy Pansy the most. “So I heard you were in the Astronomer’s tower all night last night. Did you finally admit your love to Goyle?” Ginny didn’t wait for a reply. She turned and walked down the hall so that she could find Harry and Ron and go to the Headmaster’s office.
Finding them napping on the couches in the front rooms of the Griffondor tower. Shaking her head she woke them and led the way to Dumbledore.
Reaching the passage, Ginny looked at Harry.
“What! Ok already. Vanilla Ice Cream.” They watched the Gryphon leap out of the way to let them climb the stairs.
The Headmaster’s door opened wide as they approached.
“Come in, come in. Please take a seat. I have a serious matter to discuss with you three. Now I know how good of friends you are with Miss Granger so I thought that it was best if I told you. Miss Granger is ill. She been brought low by ‘Harbaugh’s Nocht.’ Please sit back down Mister Weasley. It is not life threatening, just very contagious to other young witches and wizards. So I am afraid you cannot visit her at this time. Do not worry, she will be up and about in no time at all.” Dumbledore leaned back in his chair.
“What is Harbaugh’s Nocht, Sir?” Harry was the first to speak. “And if it isn’t life threatening, why can’t we visit her?”
“Yeah I wouldn’t mind taking the chance of miss a few classes if it means making sure that ‘Mione is ok.” Ron positively glowed at the idea of missing class without being in trouble.
“Oh Hush up Ron! You would still have to make up the work while you were sick.” Turning to the Headmaster, Ginny asked, “How long before we can see Hermione, Sir?”
Dumbledore looked at the three sitting before him. Knowing that he needed to choose his words carefully with these three students, “Well we figure that it will be a couple weeks before she is up and about again. Harbaugh’s Nocht is where you sleep constantly, no matter what you do to stay awake. Special preparations have to be made to cure you. I really suggest that you try not to sneak in to see her. I believe that doing so would cause you to miss your quiddetch match that is coming up. I would not want to see you forfeit do to lack of players.”
Looking at all three of them sitting there before him. He smiled and offered them a gumdrop for their time. Then excusing them to return to their activities he smiled and ate a purple gumdrop.

Hi Everyone
I just wanted to say thank you for the reviews that have been written so far. Yes, I know I have errors in my chapter and how much time is spent on each chapter posting doesn’t really make a difference with me. LOL. Actually I had written the first chapter over 2 years ago as a HG/SS story but it didn’t make it past the ceremony. So it got pushed to a backburner till recently. I think I like it better as LM/HG story. I know my muse is likes the plot better. I do have plans when I get more time off or my schedule changes at work to go back and edit, so have patience. Well I’m on a roll with my muse so hopefully I’ll have time to review before I post next week. Yes it’s a weak excuse but I’m using it.
