Author’s Note: Hermione is going to be a bit dark. This doesn’t follow with OTP or HBP. Sirius Black is alive and in my story Severus is a pure blood. Just so you know.

Our Paths Cross Again
Chapter 4
It had been four days since Hermione had been brought to Hogwarts. Severus was teaching once more while still going over the potion that Hermione had worked so hard to create. At meals he heard from Albus that her physical wounds were healed, they were just waiting for her to wake up. Black and Lupin had finally left. Since she was moved into a private room, they had stayed at her side.
“Severus, how are things coming with the potion?” Albus asked.
“I’m going over everything. Once Miss Granger is up and around she should have no problem brewing it.” Severus answered as he ate his dinner.
“Have you gone to see her my boy?” Albus asked.
“No.” Severus answered.
Severus quickly finished his meal and left. He retreated to his chambers and sat in front of the roaring fire. His thoughts kept returning to Hermione Granger and things she had said to him while they were at the cottage.
‘Look here you little know-it-all, you will not order me around! You are a child playing a game in which you don’t know the rules!’
‘As for this game as you so eloquently put it. I do know the rules. Better than you know.’
‘What would you know about needing protection? You’ve never been on the receiving end of the Death Eaters.’
‘You’d be surprised.’
‘You have no idea what they do to little know-it-alls like you.’
‘I have a very good idea.’
Suddenly everything she had said to him made perfect since. He immediately grabbed a bottle of Fire Whiskey and downed two glasses before he could even think straight. As he sipped his third glass his thoughts began running rampant.
‘My god. Miss Know-it-all Granger knew what was going on! She has been through this ordeal before!’ he thought.
Suddenly, a particular memory from a Death Eater meeting a few years ago popped into his mind.
*Flashback*
Severus was standing around watching the reveal. For once he wasn’t asked to participate. He was nursing a glass of Brandy when Lucius came sauntering up to him.
“You look pleased Lucius.” Severus said.
“Yes. LeStrange, Avery and myself just got done with a rather interesting bit of fun.” Lucius replied.
Severus merely raised an eye brow at the man. Lucius grabbed a glass of Brandy, led Severus to a secluded corner and began telling Severus about his evening.
“The three of us were out searching for Karakoff. Then there she was. I could tell she was a muggle born witch. One by the clothes and two because she was wearing a glamour. We easily caught her by surprised. She was strong because, the glamour charm wouldn’t come off.
“We each took turns, then we shared her. To say she had a tight pussy, ass and mouth was an understatement. I swear she enjoyed it, because not once did she let out a scream or even cry. Once we were done, we of course gave her a beating. Not enough to kill her mind you, but enough so she would never forget. I even gave her something extra to remember me by.” Lucius said with an evil laugh.
“What did you give her?” Severus asked.
“Her back is permanently marked with a nice little scar. Every time she sees it, or if some other man decides to fuck her, they will see it. She’s mine and always will be.” Lucius answered.
*End Flashback*
Severus couldn’t stand it. He had to know. He got to his feet and stormed off for the hospital wing. It was after curfew and he knew Poppy would be asleep. He snuck into the hospital wing and as quiet as a cat made his way to Hermione’s room. He walked in and found the young witch sound asleep. He sat on the chair beside her bed and studied her closely.
“Now I understand. You told me you knew more about what the Death Eaters did than I thought you did. You were right. Why didn’t you tell anyone? I have no idea why I’m even here. A little while ago I remembered Lucius telling me about a certain encounter.
“He told me how he, Avery and LeStrange had beat and raped a muggle born witch. That witch was you wasn’t it? Lucius also said he had scared your back. How did you manage to survive such an encounter not once but twice? You truly are strong and brilliant. Get well soon.” Severus said.
Severus stood up and started to leave. At the door, he stopped, walked back to the bed, rolled Hermione onto her side, untied the back of her gown and stared in shock. There on her back was and angry, red, jagged scar. It wasn’t small, by any means. It ran diagonally from her left shoulder to her right hip. Severus redid her gown, gently placed her on her back and hastily left the room.
Severus had managed to throw off all thoughts of Hermione as he immersed himself in his classes and going over her research. It had been three days since he had seen Hermione. It was after curfew when a knock echoed through out his sitting room.
“Enter!” Severus yelled.
“Good evening Professor.” Hermione greeted as she entered the room.
“I see you’re up and about Miss Granger.” Severus said.
“Yes. Thanks to you. If you hadn’t gotten me here in time, I would have died. I just wanted to come by and say thanks.” Hermione replied.
“You’re welcome.” he said.
“Oh, I was wondering if I could use the labs tomorrow while you were in class? I would like to get started on the potion. Especially since Voldemort knows the truth about you, I have a feeling he will be making his final move and soon.” she requested.
Severus simply nodded. He kept staring at his book, but was re-reading the same line over and over.
“Fine. I’ll see in the morning at breakfast.” Hermione said.
Hermione turned and left the room. Once she was gone. Severus let out a deep sigh. He couldn’t understand these feeling that were coursing through him. All he knew was that he was confused and he didn’t like it one bit. He decided then and there that he would just treat her like he did everyone else. With his mind made up, he turned in for the night.
