Chapter 4: New Ideals for Others and A New Home
\"Draco! Get down here! You have an owl,\" Lucius Malfoy yelled up to his son. He could only stare in amazement at the snowy owl. There wasn\'t anybody he knew that owned one and he was pretty sure he knew the owls Draco\'s friends sent. He was also positive that it wasn\'t a Ministry owl, a Daily Prophet owl, or the Hogwarts owl. Who was it from?
Draco wandered into the room and stopped in amazement. If he wasn\'t a Malfoy he might have rubbed his eyes a few times to make sure they weren\'t deceiving him. He was pretty sure that owl belonged to Harry Potter. If it did, then he guessed it made sense. If Potter was to be in Slytherin then it wouldn\'t do for them to be constantly bickering. One of them would have to be man enough to call for at least a truce.
Snatching the letter from the owls leg, Draco read the contents. `Hmm, Potter thought the same thing I did. Maybe I\'ll take him up on his little truce and see where things develop from there. Maybe, someday, we could become friends. Of course, I\'ll not hold my breath on that one`.
Proceeding back to his room, with Harry\'s owl trailing him, Draco sat down at his desk to pen a letter off to Harry.
Potter,
Deal. I\'ll go for the truce and speak with you on the train.
Malfoy
After tying the letter onto the owl\'s leg, Draco sent her on her way. He then sat, pondering the odd turn of events. Calling one of the manner owls to him, Draco then proceeded to write to Blaise, Pansy, Millicent, Gregory, and Vincent to tell them of the turn of events. He informed them to wait on his evaluation of Slyth Potter before they accepted him.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Harry awoke the next morning to a gentle, but persistent tapping on his bedroom window. Looking out the window, Harry saw Hedwig with a letter attached to her leg. He could only pray that it wasn\'t the one he sent and that Malfoy had read and responded to his letter. If he hadn\'t then it would put a definite hitch in his plans. Things might not go quite the way he was anticipating. Getting out of bed, Harry walked to his window and opened it. This allows Hedwig the access she was wanting. Flying in she dropped down onto the top of her cage to await Harry.
After relieving Hedwig of the letter, Harry read it. He couldn\'t help but let out the breath he had been holding in anticipation for either a negative or positive response. He was glad that Draco accepted. `Have to remember to refer to him as Draco all of the time. If I don\'t, then I\'ll never remember to do that at school`.
Getting dressed, Harry ticked off the things he would do today. `One, tell of the Dursley\'s and then flee the premises. Two, take my trunk and Hedwig to the new apartment. Three, write to Professor Snape, again. Four, buy furniture and other essential needs for the apartment. Five, write to Sirius. Six, write back to Albus to confirm that no, I was not kidding. I definitely want to be resorted.
Finishing this line of thought, Harry packed his trunk and told Hedwig to follow him. Luckily he owned so little that he could put some clothes in the cage and put the cage in his trunk. He made sure to keep his wand out and in his hand in case he ran into resistance sooner than he was expecting. Then Harry proceeded to drag his trunk downstairs and out to the curb. Putting his wand in his pocket, Harry made his way back into the house. This is where he was confronted with three furious Dursley\'s.
\"Boy! What is the meaning of this?! All that racket has woken us up! Now your abnormality is on display to the entire neighborhood due to that damn trunk and the infernal bird of yours! You\'re going to get the worst fucking thrashing ever for this! So help me...\" Vernon was cut off mid rant when his nephew pulled his wand out of his pocket and jabbed, bypassing the rolls of blubber, under his chin.
\"No longer will I sit idly by and allow you to treat me the way you have! Do you realize that if the wizarding world got a hold of the physical, mental, and sexual abuse that you wouldn\'t even stand a chance in hell? Not even if it were frozen over!! I\'m famous to them! Everyone knows me and just about every witch and wizard would come to my defense and the Ministry would allow it! Just because I\'m bloody fucking Harry Potter! They\'d kill you in such a manner that you\'d be pleading for my mercy to Aveda Kedavra your ass as soon as possible!\" Harry said this in a cold, deadly voice that left no margin for thoughts that he was lying. This caused chills to go down the Dursley\'s spines and for the color to progressively drain from their hideous visages. At the end of his tirade they were a sickly ashen color and Harry looked at them in an un-amused manner that didn\'t betray his emotions. Such as the extreme disgust and hate he felt for these lowly creatures.
Calmly, Harry turned on his heel and left number 4 Privet Drive, intent on never returning again. If he ever saw them again, it would be too soon. Raising his wand, Harry flagged the Knight bus and made his way to his new home.
( I\'d love to leave it there, but it\'s much too short! I wouldn\'t want anyone killing me for that!)
After all his hard work and eager anticipation, it paid off. He was free of the Dursley\'s, their prejudices, and his old life and nobody would change that. The new and improved Slytherin Harry was ready to show the world that he was capable. Capable of taking care of himself, defending himself, and making his own decisions. Life, from now on, would be good. He would see to that.
Getting off the bus, Harry entered the apartment building, lugging his trunk with him. He would not allow anything to dampen his god mood. Once Harry entered his new home, he placed his trunk in the bedroom that would be his. He definitely needed to paint as well. Sitting as comfortably on the floor as possible, Harry pulled a book, a piece of parchment, a quill, and in inkwell out of his trunk. Using the book as a hard surface, he started his letter to his new Head of House.
Dear Professor Snape,
My plans are well underway and your approval will only make them go smoother. I am now officially on my own. I am writing again to request an audience with you and my soon-to-be new house mates the first weekend we are back. This way we can all get any questions, comments, or problems out of the way. It will also make it easier for me to see through their evil Slytherin masks. This way I get to know the real and true them.
If you are willing to do this, please reply. If there is anything you would like to ask me, don\'t hesitate to owl me.
Thank you again.
Harry Potter
Satisfied, he sent his letter off to Snape and then headed into London to locate a few furniture stores. Seemingly endless amounts of stores stretched before him, but the furniture stores were not to his tastes. Most of them seemed to be aimed at rich, upper class muggles. He wanted to find a furniture store that sold previously owned wood furniture that hopefully had a dark stain. Maybe a dark cherry. Eventually he found a store that suited his needs and entered.
The bell tinkled over head announcing the arrival of a customer to the elderly man that ran the store. Putting a smile on his face, he meandered over to the young man. \"Is there something I can help you with? I know everything in this store and I will be able to help you find what you are looking for with more ease. My store is rather large and not in any order that most can discern.\"
\"Yes, I do believe I could use your assistance. I have recently acquired a new living area and have nothing of my own to decorate with. I was looking for something in a dark cherry stain. Preferably a desk, chair, chest of drawers, and a bed frame. If you had double of these that had slightly different looks it would be very appreciated. You see, I have two bedrooms I am in need of furnishings for,\" Harry said to the old man. Watching him stroke his chin, Harry thought that he would remind him a great deal of Dumbledore if he grew out his hair and grew a mustache and beard.
\"Hmm, yes, I do believe I can help you. If you would follow me please?\" the man asked.
Twisting and turning, Harry was apt to believe he was in a maze made of furniture before they finally stopped at exactly what Harry was looking for. He thanked the man and then took time to study what he had found to locate something that stood out to him. Eventually he found everything he wanted. They came as matching sets. The first set he settled on had snakes engraved on the sides of the desk, chest of drawers, and the headboard of the bed. It was the same way with the second set except there were dragons instead of the snakes. He wrote out what he wanted and then paid the old man. He asked for them to be delivered within the next few days and headed out to finish his shopping.
The next stop on Harry\'s shopping trip was to order a mattress, which didn\'t take long. He then continued on to a general supply store. He bought towels and other bath essentials, kitchen essentials, and then he moved onto the bed sheets. He chose emerald green bed sheets and a black comforter for the snake room and black sheets and a red comforter for the dragon room. Moving on he picked up emerald green paint for the majority of the snake room, but black to do a focus wall. He chose red for the dragon room and decided that he would get a large mirror to hang on the focus wall instead of a different color of paint. Various other items were bought as well, such as a few pictures and other things that depicted these animals. Deciding that he had enough, he paid and headed back to his apartment.
Waiting for the next day before he started paig, Hg, Harry sat down to a take out dinner and prepared in his head what he would write. After finishing his dinner, Harry steeled himself to get ready for writing to his godfather, Sirius Black.
Snuffles,
I thought you should know that I have moved out of the Dursley\'s. There are other things I need to tell you, but I\'d rather do that in person. If you\'ve finished whatever it was Dumbledore wanted you to do then please come to 1568 Surreal Drive, apt 15B, London, England. I have an extra room and you are welcome to crash here for the next three years, if you like. Please come, I really need to talk to you.
Yours,
Harry
Glad he had gotten that out of his way, Harry then started on his note to Dumbledore.
Dumbledore,
Ahavehave stated before I am tired of your manipulations. You used my relatives and Hagrid against me and I don\'t appreciate it. I am not giving you much longer to reply to my letters before I start looking for a new school. How good will you look in the eyes of the wizarding population if you let me, the boy who lived, go to another school? Especially if I decide to take Durmstrang up on their offer.
Reply with three days or your out of luck and it\'s good-bye Hogwarts hello another wizarding school.
