Chapter 4

A/N: Hey people! I'd like to thank everyone who reviewed my story. Relicwitch, Katie K, Lychee (2 times), Greeneyes, CMM, Anon, Aliciamasters, tall freak, Loren, & Rane. I've had 1500 hits, and I love everyone who's read and who will read this. You all made me happy, so I wrote you another chapter.

After setting his platter down on a large table by the library's fireplace, Harry took another look at the parchment he held. The potions master had written down a list of various potions ingredients obtainable from his enclosed garden with a note near the top for him to collect them. *I'll show him that i'm not just an insufferable brat. I'll get his ingredients for him, then maybe we can use the time freed up for him to talk or something.*

He quickly went through the shelves until he found a large section full of books to collect potion ingredients. Pulling out a few large texts he walked back to his table and looked up each ingredient, making notes on the parchment. He slowly ate his breakfast between reading and writing. After almost an hour, he finished, putting the books back where they belonged and headed out of the library. He dropped off his dishes at the kitchen, went upstairs to pick up his herbology equipment and then went straight to Snape's garden.

*Maybe if I finish quickly we can have supper together. I wonder what his reaction will be.* He went through the list, following the directions the books had given him carefully and collected all of the ingredients. The worst ingredients were the devils snare roots as Harry accidently dropped his wand in the enclosed dark area of the gardens. *Stupid thing tore my pants.*

By the time he was finished it was indeed almost supper and Harry was hungry and tired. *Finally done. I hope Snape appreciates this.* He gathered all his items and ingredients and headed down into the manor again. He put his equipment away in his room and took everything else downstairs with him. *I wish he had another pair of jeans I could wear. Stupid plant.*

Harry decided to make a quick stop in the kitchen before his visit with Snape. Just as he had expected, Orta was there and bust making supper. She noticed him and gave him a huge smile. "Mister Harry Potter, sir. What can I be doing for you? Did you and Master Snape like yours breakfast? Master Snape says I was to make it cause he says it was you're favorit...Meep!" Harry chuckled as the house elf's enthusiastic answer was cut short as the pot she had turned away from began boiling over.

*So Snape knows my favorite foods, eh? He must have been paying some attention to me all these years. Maybe there is still hope.* Harry had a huge smile on now as he watched Orta reduce the flame under the pot and clean up the small mess before turning back to him with an apologetic smile. "Snape and I didn't get the chance to eat together this morning, but I assure you I cherished every bite. I stopped by to tell you that I'm going to visit with Snape now, so I would really appreciate it if you could take my food there, kay?"

Orta smiled hugely at the compliment to her cooking skills and nodded vigerously. "Yes sir, Mister Potter, sir." Harry thanked her again and left her to her cooking. *He can't kick me out when my food will be delivered there, that'll give me time to convince him I really want to get to know him. I wonder if he had anything to do with supper being ribs.*

Arriving outside of Snape's study, Harry schooled his expression out of the goofy grin he was sure he'd been wearing. After calming himself, he knocked and waited until he heard an annoyed "Enter." He quietly let himself in and made sure to close the door behind him. "What do you want now Potter?" The chilled voice sent shivers along Harry's spine and he had to remind his body that he was there only to talk-for now at least.

He grinned and recieved a glare from the surly potions master. "I came to pay you a visit. I thought you might get lonely behind in here all day, lord knows I would." Harry made sure to keep smiling as he walked up to the large desk between him and Snape. He completely ignored the older man's dark glares as he removed his pack and sat on the corner of an unused table.

"I do not want your company Potter, and I do not get lonely. I suggest you take your bag and leave before you manage to destroy something." It seemed to Harry that Snape was very agrivated with him. *Maybe because I'm smiling?* He didn't bother to ponder over what was upsetting the potions master. He was very glad he'd had the sense to plan for this unwarm welcome.

"Sorry sir, but I can't leave yet. You see, I told Orta that I was planning on paying you a visit and she's bringing my supper to me here tonight. I really couldn't leave early and miss supper, ribs are my favorite after all. I wonder how your house elf would know all of my favorite foods." At the last bit he raised a questioning eyebrow at his former professor and was extremely happy to see him squirm the slightest bit even as his glower got even more frightening.

"Bloody Gryfindor. That was extremely presumtuous of you. Your just as arrogant and hot headed as your father was Potter. Watch yourself, or you'll meet the same, sticky end." Harry's smile was gone. He was aware that his father hadn't been the nicest to Snape, but he wouldn't listen to anyone insult his parents. He didn't care if he had a crush on Snape, Harry wasn't going to let him insult anyone he loved.

"My parents died for me you bastard! They both gave their lives to save mine, and where in seven hells would you be now if they hadn't? I'd be dead and you'd be kissing Voldemorts ass for the rest of your worthless life! If it weren't for all those people who you keep insulting I wouldn't be here and Voldemort would still be in power! People change Severus! My father wasn't like that for the rest of his life!"

"And I've changed too, you just refuse to notice. I'm not a sniveling little gryffindor who runs around looking for trouble anymore! I'm by all counts an adult and I would appreciate being treated as such! I'm trying to get to know you, but you insist on being a asshole!" Harry was flushed and panting for breathe after that outburst. At some point during his rampage he'd got off the table and he forced himself to calm down and seat himself again.

Snape's eyes were wide. He had obviously not expected that, and Harry sat silently as the older man seemed to go over his entire rant in his head. "And what, pray tell, is an asshole, Mr. Potter?" Harry's mouth dropped and his eyes had to be popping from his head. *I just yelled at him, and through all of that he wants to know what an asshole is?*

"It's-um, a muggle curse word. Like bastard." Snape's mask was back in place but Harry could see a slight difference in his eyes. *Did this change anything? I hope I didn't just ruin my chances at getting to know him better.* "I don't really think you're an asshole, sir. I was just upset, I'm sorry." Harry hoped Snape would accept his apology and they could get over this.

"I see. You will wait for your supper to arrive, and you will leave Mr. Potter. I have no wish to get to know whoever you think you are now. Last time you decided to show up in my study things went missing, and I would like to keep everything as it is this time." Harry was very upset that Snape didn't want to get to know him, and looked down at the mention of the missing parchment.

"Um, sir...if you mean your list of ingredients, I-um, I kindof took it. It was an accident, and I would have given it back, but I wanted to do something nice for you, to show that I've changed, kindof like a peace offering, and I'm really sorry sir..." Harry quieted into mumbled apologies as he got up and handed the potion's master his pack.

Snape's expression was unreadable as he looked inside the pack and made a mental rundown of his list. Harry knew everything was there, but he was terrified that the potions master would ignore that and just yell at him for taking the ingredients list. Snape didn't seem to be impressed by his actions. *Guess I spend the rest of my time here alone. Dammit, why did this all have to go wrong?! I should just leave him alone from now on.* Harry stood up and made to leave, muttering a few quiet apologies as he went. He was at the door when Snape finally spoke. "Where, pray tell, are you going, Mr. Potter?"

Harry froze and turned back to face the older man. He couldn't read the expression on Snape's face, and he wasn't sure exactly what he was supposed to say. "I..I was just going to leave, sir. I don't want to disturb you any more." He had been about to continue, but he stopped himself from babbling on. "Could you just tell Orta to bring my food to my room, please?" Snape raised an eyebrow at him and gave one of his copyrighted smirks, though this one seemed more amused than arrogant.

"I could, but I was under the impression that you were to be spending supper here. How are we to 'get to know each other' if you leave? Or did that little rant of yours meant nothing?" The potions master waved his wand and the items on his desk floated to positions on the many shelves around his room. Another wave and a cushioned chair similar to Snape's own appeared across the desk from him. "Have a seat Mr. Potter. Dinner will be here soon."

A/N: There you go, you lovely people. Remember, reviews make me so happy that I want to make you happy, and I write more, so please review. I love you all!
