An Unexpected Suprise
Back in the Common Room the Maurders were discussing whose name the beautiful Ms.
Granger would say first. “I say that she’s bound to say Sirius’ name first.” Said Peter. “Well…
James and I are the cute ones in the group, no offence to you two but Peter your clumsy and
Remus well you’re just a smart-ass.” Said Sirius bluntly. Remus nodded, He knew Sirius had a
good point, “Boy those are five word he thought he would never say.” And his chances of being
picked were slim to none, but never the less he secretly hoped along with everyone else in the
group that she would say his name anyway.
The door burst open and Lily came out with the tape recorder in hand. Remus held his
breath read to congratulate Sirius or James on taking her to the ball. Of course Lily smiled at
Sirius who beamed back at her. “She said…”
Lily hit the tape recorder, a confused quiet voice, which was music to Remus’ ears
said the one word he thought that they’d never would have said, “Remus?” Her gaze and smile
went to Remus who just stood there rooted at the spot, mouth-hanging open. After he had a few
moments to revive himself from anaglactic shock, “I…I…SERIOUSLY!?” he said, voice cracking
from relief. Lily nodded ecstatically. “Of course Re, I couldn’t fake her voice if I wanted to it’s to
quiet-” Just perfect for you. She was about to say but decided to cut off right then and there. She
turned to the three boys who were wide eyed with shock, “Well lets see ten times three is THIRIY
GALLEONS! AWESOME! Fork them over you guys!” she said smiling. Yet, her heart was burning
with pain, SHE wanted Remus and by god she would get him. Anyway she could. A they opened
their pockets Remus walked past them and felt a squeeze on his arm, “Go get’em Moony.” Said
Lily shyly. He smiled at her.
Remus went into the room. Hermione was sitting up reading Hogwarts: A History.
Remus smiled, She likes to read! “Good book isn’t it.” He stated dumbly. Hermione looked up
from her book, smiled and set it down on the shelve next to her. “Yah it’s one of my favorites.”
She said. Remus stared at the girl in shock. “But I thought that women don’t like to read, just
gossip and play with make up and shop and things like that.” He said absentmindly. “ Well I’m
not exactly what you call a “normal” girl.” She said laughing. Remus suddenly felt really
immature. Odd, he thought no one ever made me feel like this. Of course he had a lot of… well
lets call them fan but none of them made him get all tongue-tied and feel uncomfortable. Love.
The word hit him like a ton of brick. He, Remus Lupin, was in love.
