Chapter 34

The countdown to his freedom was about up. He had waited nearly nine months for this, and every moment closer to it had become just about unbearable. The constant reminder of how many weeks, days, hours, and seconds was the only thing that kept him sane.

He was so weak. If only they would let him see her. He would have some strength. They had actually migrated him from the bed, to the wall, and chair, giving him minor doses of mercy. But he didn't care. He just wanted her.

He just wanted his wife.

Scorpius squinted in the darkness to look at the clock. 2:00 AM.

Harry hadn't been in there in over twenty hours. He knew why. Scorpius smiled to himself. Just a few more minutes...

He could feel her screaming, and he knew the reason. Their son was coming. His son. The Malfoy Heir was about to take his first breath.

"Perseus Lucius Malfoy." He said to himself, letting the name roll off his tongue. "T'will won't be long, my boy. Your mother will unite us shortly."

Dove couldn't take her eyes of the child in her arms. Eyes now closed, nursing in its sleep. She had only just got a glimpse of the eye color before the baby had latched on eagerly hungry after its few moments away from Dove while her mother, grandmother, aunt and three healers had made sure the baby was well.

She couldn't explain her happiness with her newborn child. Anything could happen, and she wouldn't care as long as she had her baby.

Scorpius had gotten his wish. The baby was blue eyed with hair just like Dove.

Harry finally came in at seven in the morning looking dead tired. He sat in a chair. "I don't even know why I am bothering today." He said through a yawn.

"Let me see my son." Scorpius ordered.

Harry snorted almost happily. "Do you really think the world revolves around you?"

"I am asking nicely." Scorpius said. He swung his leg, kicking the chair leg he sat in, thumping it every second. "I will see him. I will see them both. Now, bring me my son."

Harry leaned across the table. "You keep forgetting that you are a prisoner, and we don't take orders from criminals."

"There is a child with our joint blood flowing through him. I suggest we put the past behind us if you wish to see either of them again." Scorpius sneered.

"You have no power, Scorpius. We've won."

"She's still cursed." Scorpius told him with a shrug. "She's still mine."

"And you still refuse to give us answers?" Harry asked.

"Let me see my family, and I shall answer one."

"We're not bargaining with you." Harry scowled. "And ditch the idea of my daughter being your family. You're not her family. You're complete rubbish." Harry got up, completely disgusted with the man.

"My son!" Scorpius shouted to Harry's back. "I want to fucking see him!"

"I can't allow that." Harry told him and Scorpius was left to himself again.

"Fucker!" Scorpius spat at the door. He was angry. Bloody angry. And he wanted someone to pay for it!

Dove woke up, her heart pumping with fear. She hadn't slept for long before something inside of her was poking at her. Something was wrong. She was sore and tired from the child bearing, but she managed the step out of bed anyway.

What was it? She asked herself.

Dove looked down at the sleeping baby, unwilling to disturb the child. Her gut said to take the baby and her wand. The wand lay at her pillow, having been given it a while ago, after proving that she wasn't going to harm anyone.

She trusted her gut.

Gently, she picked up her baby and held her wand out in defense. Something was wrong.

What?

She began checking the house. It was daylight, and she could see well, but because of the long night everyone had, they were sleeping. Her parents slept in the room next to her, and Lily across the hall. Everything appeared fine, all of them sleeping well.

She went down stairs, James leaned up against Scorpius' door, half asleep. His eyes opened all the way when he seen her move.

"Dove, you're supposed to be in bed, resting."

"I..." she paused, confused. Everything seemed fine.

Then what was wrong?

Her eyes went to the door James still leaned up against.

"What's wrong? Is the baby alright?"

Dove nodded, her eyes still on the door.

'Open it.' Her voice ordered. 'He's in there, and he has orders for you.'

"James..." she whispered. "Step back..."

"What? Why?" He asked. "No, Dove, you can't go in there." He raised his wand, but Dove waved hers and flung him out of the way, disarming him in the process.

"The fuck?" He held his aching head.

Dove stood, looking at her brother horror, her mouth open. "I didn't... That... wasn't..."

"Open the door, Dove." Scorpius' voice entered her mind.

"I..." she didn't know what to do. Help her brother or go see Scorpius. She saw herself pointing her wand at James and levitating him up. "No...!"

'Sectumsempra.' Scorpius invaded her mind and a white slash was sent out to James, slicing his cheek. Before he could scream a spell was cast onto him, silencing him.

No! She wanted to scream but nothing came out.

'Open the fucking door, or he will die!'

Dove pointed her wand and unlocked the door, stepping inside. Scorpius was sitting in a chair at a table; a complete mess. He was still wearing the same clothes he had been in the day he was imprisoned, his hair stood everywhere, and he could barely hold his head up.

"Hurry!" He ordered weakly. "Get these off of me." He spoke about the chains around his wrists.

She quickly obeyed. "Help James." She pleaded.

"First we help ourselves." He muttered, reaching up with what little strength he had and pulling her down by the collar of her gown. "Kiss me, now, we don't have much time." He roughly pressed his lips to her. Something fluttered inside Dove and Scorpius broke the kiss off with a heavy breath. "Finally." He smiled. "Give me my son." He held out his arms, his eyes rested on his baby.

"Um..."

"Now."

She wasn't going to argue with him. He'll find out soon enough. She placed the baby in the crook of his arms and watched as he ran his finger along the cheek of their daughter.

"Her name is Violet." Dove told him. "Violet Hope."
