Chapter Thirty-Four: Friends?

A/N-Okay back to Harry now. Just needed to throw that Voldy info out there for you all in the last chappy, it really explains alot. (like why Narcissa lived longer than Lucius:P) muahahhahahaaaa Allssssoooo I'm very very very sorry for the long wait, I got caught up in my town's little festivities (mainly partying..sorry!!!! It's just a huge thing that happens anually, like my whole town who is prolly 15 and up get so drunk together all weekend. Drunken Bonding...Hurrah...Anyway, very sorry!!!!!)

ALSO!!! A big Thank YOU!!!!!! To WeasleyWench cuz she gave me a spectacular idea, involving a feather.

Sleepyxin- Yea, I honestly didn't expect my story to take that turn, but thats what happened:P I dunno tho, some people get mad about that, expessially on the 'details and warnings' *shrugs*

Vider le demarruer- :D Thanks!!! I am so in love with that book, and I dunno..I hope no one is mad that I used that though. I was happy someone picked up on it:D

Rumor- I know, it would be so devastating, But at the same time, Harry had grown up being dependant, He is obviously going to lose SOME of that dependancy on Draco, but it will always be there. Yes, Lupin willl be back, but I don't think I can swing the Lupin/Sirius thing.... sorry:(

SneakyFox- I like evil laughter!! Muahahhahaaahahaaaaaa!! It's *always* appropriate!!!!!!

Soria--Whaaat?!?! What do you mean?

Chapter Thirty-Four: Friends?

The week following the article was agony. Everyone in the entire school made fun of them. Well, not everyone because the other homosexuals tottally understood, Which was a surprising amount of people. As for everyone else, they made fun of them. Harry and Draco just stuck together and held their heads high, they were actually a little (and I mean a minuscule 'little') happy about having detention. It got them out of other people's eyeshot for a while a day.

For almost the entire week Harry and Draco had been pestering Hermione and Ron, and even the twins and Ginny to become friends, they had tried everything in the book. Well not everything, but alot of things. They had almost completed all of their stupid detentions with Snape, and they had one more night to go. They couldn't do their detention on Friday night, because they were attending the Order meeting with Dumbeldore.

The boys were trying to rack their brains with ideas of how to get these Gryffindors to be their friends. They had already been blunt, been nice (and mean. Accidentally of course). They had been upfront, they had been charming and nothing was working.

"Maybe we should just tell them exactly what is happening. They're going to see us at that meeting tommorow and shit themselves." Draco said, while scrubbing a particularily nasty cauldron from Snape's extra supplies. This one obviously had something brewed in it that was disgusting, and there was no way that it was cleaned before being put away many years ago.

"Well, we already tried being blunt, without actually saying anything. Do you think they would believe us if we just came right out and told them everything?" Harry asked from his job of moving the organs and species that Snape liked to keep around his classroom, to cleaner, newer jars.

Draco grabbed a chisel and a hammer. 'No magic allowed', "I think that Hermione would. Ron seems like hes kind of a git." Draco said before leaning into the cauldron and hammering away.

Harry waited until Draco was finished making so much racket. "Do you get the feeling that his one true love is food?" Harry asked with a grin, and accidentally dropped what looked like a baby chicken on the floor. He picked the....thing...back up.

"Well Hermione defended us that one time on tuesday. About the Prophet." Harry pointed out, while grabbing a felt marker and labelling the date on the ...thing....in a new jar. As he was placing the jar on one of the shelves he spotted a feather. It was pushed back behind a few jars and looked as though it had been there for a long time.

"Yea. Maybe that means something good?" Draco said loudly. He gave the cauldron one final hammer, and the chisel went right through the bottom.

Harry snickered, and pulled the feather off of the shelf accompanied by a large amount of dust. He thought it was going to be a quill. Where the point for the ink would have been was a silver cover, covering the end of the quill. Harry tried to pull it off to see if it was a lid, but he couldn't get it to budge. He walked across the floor to Draco, who had his back to Harry, and drug the feather across the back of his neck.

Draco shivered and turned. "What are you doing?"

"Nothing." Harry said with a smirk, reaching out with the feather again.

"Don't." Draco hissed. "That's why we are in trouble in the first place." He pointed out.

Harry shrugged and dropped his hand. He walked back to the shelf and tossed the feather on top. Something on it caught his eye, so he reached back up and brought it down again. He looked very closely just above the silver cap and noticed two tiny letters. One silver, and one blue, in olde english writing.

R.R

Harry's eyebrows knitted together. He looked at it for another moment, and then heard Snapes approaching voice.

He tossed the feather back onto the shelf and continued labelling.

Hermione was standing with Ron outside of the Great Hall discussing Harry and Draco. What was their deal?

Ron was speaking, and she happened to glance over her shoulder. She huffed.

"Don't they have anything better to do?" She asked rhetorically

Ron turned and looked back. Harry and Draco were approaching from the dungeon staircase.

"Hey guys." Draco said, like they were long lost buddies, "We really need to talk to you about something important. If you could meet us in the Room of Requirement in say...fifteen minutes?" He didn't wait for them to answer, "Great. Oh and bring along the twins as well." He said, and him and Harry walked away up the marble staircase.

Hermione glanced at Ron, who shrugged.

"We aren't going to meet them, are we?" He asked her slowly.

"Of course we are. Maybe they will finally explain themselves." She answered as they made their way to their common room.

Hermione walked quickly, and once she was inside their room she went directly to Fred.

"I need you to come with me." Hermione told him sternly. She turned and seen Ron talking to George, George looked over at her, and Hermione motioned for him to follow. He did.

The three boys followed Hermione down the corridor, until they reached a portrait of a man and some trolls. The trolls were wearing ballet costumes. Hermione began pacing the corridor, and she was thinking "Show me the room where Malfoy and Potter are." As she was doing this the boys were watching the portait, they realized that this man was trying to *train* them to be ballerinas(?). Fred looked at the little plaque on the bottom of the portrait. "Barnabas the Barmy" It said. Fred laughed to himself.

"Come on." Hermione said, cutting into their thoughts. They turned, and there was now a door on the wall opposite of the portrait. They followed Hermione through.

Draco and Harry looked up as they entered. It seemed as though they had been deep in coversation. Ron noticed how closely they were sitting.

The quartet had walked into a room that was a deep blood red. There was a fire crackling merrily in the fireplace, and nice leather couches, and two very comfortable looking chairs, which were across from the couch that Harry and Draco were sitting in. The other couch was at an angle that faced the other peices of furniture, no matter where you sat, you could still see everyone.

Hermione took one of the chairs that was directly across from the couch Harry and Draco had claimed, she flicked a fat beetle off of the armrest and sat down. The boys moved farther apart and waited for everyone to sit down. The three red-heads and the one brunette took their places, and waiting calmly for the two boys to start. Fred and George were caught off gaurd when they entered the room, they hadn't been told where they were going.

There was a tray of sandwiches, cheese, meats, and crackers on a table that seperated one of the couches, and the chairs. There was also a pitcher of pumpkin juice, with a cup for each of them. Ron instantly reached for a sandwich and Harry glanced at Draco, a small smile playing on his lips. "You owe me five galleons." He whispered in Draco's direction.

Draco cleared his throat. "We have invited you here so we could tell you the truth about alot of things. We were mainly going to tell you why we are trying to befriend you, but decided that we should start at the beginning. The beginning being the day that Harry's parents died. Then we will skip a few years to the day that Harry became a part of my family."

The four guests were very interested. Hermione realized that they weren't being given a choice about what they were being told. She would ask questions, if she had any, when they were done their story.

"Okay." Hermione said politely. The three red-heads just grunted.

Harry looked around at everybody, making sure to make eye contact with all of them.

"Seeing as how the very beginning is my story, I will start. As you all probably know, when I was only an infant of one, my house was attacked and my parents were killed. I had the killing curse shouted at me, and my body rejected it and rebounded it back to the caster. Up until very recently I was under the impression that Peter Pettigrew had done these things-" Hermione snorted, and Ron looked very angry about his thought to be 'pet rat'."-last week my Godfather, Sirius, told me otherwise. It was Voldemort."

"Sirius is your Godfather?" Fred interrupted.

"Yes." Harry said quickly.

"Wow.." Hermione breathed.

"Anyway, I'm assuming you all knew that?" Harry questioned.

"Of course we knew!" George said, "Everyone knew that it was You-Know-Who that killed your parents. Thats why 90 percent of the wizarding world couldn't fathom why you were on his side." While he was waving the air to his right. "Bug." He said sheepishly.

Harry felt incredibly stupid at the moment. Draco picked it up and continued the story.

"Well when I was seven, I was playing at the beach while I was on vacation. I was having fun and didn't realize that this boy was walking towards me. He walked right into me. I remember we played for hours and then my dad came to get me. I was having so much fun with the boy that I didn't want to leave him there alone. He told us his name was Harry Potter, and he had been brought home with us."

"I was abused you see, by the relatives I was living with." Hermione gasped, "They didn't like me, and when I had been dropped off at their doorstep they decided that I would be their slave. I had to do everything, and I got hit and yelled at quite often. They had to take me on vacation with them, and I was forbidden to leave the hotel room. One of the nights I stayed there, and got beaten quite badly, so the next day I decided that I was going out, like it or not. Lucius realized that I was much too timid for a vivacious seven year old, and noticed that I had many bruises. He took me home with him. He got me a healer, and he loved me like his own son." Harry said, almost in tears at the thought of Lucius. He took a couple of deep breaths, and noticed everyone looking at him.

Draco quickly continued. "When we were ten we started training. We had-"

"Training?" Hermione asked slyly. "No wonder you two were so good in your classes in our first year."

"Yes, training. And yes, that probably had something to do with it. Anyway, we had to learn about everything ahead of time, and a few days before we boarded the train to come to our first year here, we were taken to meet our Lord." Draco was too used to calling him that.

Hermione gasped, "At such a young age?" she flicked the bug again, which had settled itself back on the armrest. It hit Ron on the forehead and she tried to stifle her laughter. She didn't think laughter would be appropriate at a time like this.

Draco rolled his eyes, "Yes. He gave us a simple mission: Watch Dumbeldore closely."

"We didn't know what we were watching for." Harry interjected, "So we didn't find much. We had been trained to dislike the man. I had even gotten into a few screaming fits with...or more at...him. He tried to do many things to warn me about the future, he tried to move me out of Slytherin into Gryffindor. He even made me stay at the castle during holidays our first year. As you know." He tipped his head in Hermione direction. Her face pinked a little bit and Ron looked at her strangely while reaching for another sandwich.

"Harry had written to Sirius the day after my father died. He asked Sirius to please tell him about himself. Nothing was adding up. We had just gotten back from St. Mungos, my mother was very sick see." Draco then stopped and started smiling madly. George recoiled. Draco started laughing. Hermione didn't see what was so funny about Draco's mom being sick. "Harry." Draco said, gasping from in between his laughs, "Do you remember that Healer? I'm pretty sure we threatened him with bodily harm if anything was to happen to my mom." he said, laughing again.

"Well, we both did yell at him pretty good." Harry said smiling.

Fred looked on without amusement. How weird. He didn't find it funny at all.

"Anyway, Sirius wrote me back and got us thinking. He said alot of things that instantly changed my mind after we had sent a few letters to each other." Harry picked the story, Draco was trying to make his laughs stop.

"Changed your mind?" Ron asked.

"Yes, we are no longer for the dark." Harry said as though it was the most obvious thing in the world. He swatted behind his head, he could hear buzzing around his ear.

"Don't you have Dark Marks? I mean you did have to go and see You-Know-Who personally." George asked with disgust.

"No Dark Marks for us." Draco said, finally composed, and the boys pulled up their left sleeves.

Hermione smiled softly, it was quick, and Harry only caught it in a glance.

"We went to Dumbeldore last week. We talked to him, and he told us to befriend you because we are going to be in some Order thing with you guys."

The four guests looked shocked.

"Your joining the Order of Pheonix?" Fred asked, in awe.

Both boys nodded.

"And you want to be our friends?" George asked skeptically.

They nodded again. "It seems like the right thing, seeing as how we are going to be together alot more often."

Hermione moved forwards in her chair. "Can I just ask you something?"

"Sure." Draco said.

"How are we going to go along with this? I mean, we can't just be nice to you in front of everyone. What if everyone noticed. There would surely be some talk about that, and I'm sure it would get to He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named in no time. He would want to kill you."

"Err..He already wants to kill us." Draco said while waving a hand through the air, as though he could just whisk away her question. Then he stopped, "Well, Harry for sure."

Hermione reddened. How could she have not thought that one through?

"Well, won't you be shunned by your friends?"

"We don't really have any friends." Harry stated matter-of-factly. "Only two, and they aren't *really* friends."

George's eyes flittered knowingly to his brothers. Draco caught it.

"Yes, we are gay." he said.

Ron burst out laughing. "Like we didn't know that." he slapped at his arm, feeling a bug crawling there.

"Very true, Hermione's known for years. Hermione knew before we knew." Harry said appreciatively.

"The news article helped alot." Fred pointed out.

Harry took a deep breath. "Yes, that too."

"How did you convince Dumbeldore to let your join the Order?" Hermione asked seriously "It took us a year of constant whining and bickering to join."

"Well, we told him that we have nothing to gain from the Dark Side. All we would come across is loss. More loss then we have already endured. I think he needs Harry anyway." Draco said.

They all nodded. Harry yawned loudly, covering his mouth with his left hand and kicking his right foot out in front of him. He was trying to kick the beetle that Hermione had flicked.

"Well, I'm tired." He stated, "So...friends?" He asked, leaning forward for a handshake from Hermione.

"God, the way we've been treating each other for most of the last five years I should be saying no, but I don't need to deal with petty arguments when I'm going to have to see you at least twice a week." She grasped Harry's hand and shook it firmly. The rest followed suit, moving to Draco once they had finished with Harry.

"Great." Harry said. He cast a tempus, 11:05 it read. "We better be sneaky, it's way past curfew and I don't feel like another week of detentions." He jerked his wand to the side and the beetle went flying off to the side.

"Oh, for god sakes." Draco said angrily, he walked forward to step on the bug.

"No!" Hermione shouted, rushing forwards. Draco stopped and watched as Hermione picked the beetle up off of the floor and took it to the window. She opened it and held her hand out waiting for the beetle to fly away. It did and she returned with a slight blush on her cheeks.

"A week?" George said in an appreciative tone, referring to the detentions.

"Yea." Draco said, he could see the questions in their eyes, "For contaminating the school train." He said with a smirk.

They all smiled, and that made Harry smile more.

"Well, seeing as how we have to be extra careful with that old Umbridge bitch around," Fred whipped out a peice of parchment, "I'll let you all know when it's safe to go."

"I sollemnly swear that I am up to no good." He murmered, tapping the parchment with his wand.

"Whoaa.." Harry and Draco said together.

"That's so cool." Draco said.

They were looking at a detailed map of the school, it had little moving dots, labelled with the persons name moving around the halls.

"Okay, Draco Harry, you guys have the farthest to go, so you go first. Umbridge is on the other side of this floor, you guys need to go directly down to the dungeons. Snape is in his office. Hurry!!" He said urgently.

The boys said a quick "Goodnight" and left the room, hurrying down the stairs so they didn't get in trouble again.
