Puzzle Solved
Chapter Three: Puzzle Solved
Moody and Dumbledore both stopped talking as the enraged witch stormed into the study with out knocking. She slammed the door closed and cast a locking and silencing charm on the door before she moved forward.
Both men exchanged looks, this was not going to be good they both thought simultaneously.
“Why didn\'t either of you tell me about Viktor?” She raged.
Moody looked to Dumbledore. This was all him. Albus could explain. Moody had been at the receiving end of her wand enough to not want to be there anymore.
Albus played dumb, “I assure you my child that I don\'t know what you are talking about,” he hoped that he could throw her off the trail. He should have known better. She was way to smart for that.
“Don\'t play dumb with me Headmaster.” She slammed her fists down on the desk, “Stupidity does not suit you.” she spat at him. “You both could have saved me two years of grief had you of let me know that he was playing double agent!\' She was so angry tears were beginning to form. “I spent the last two years thinking the man I loved was dead only to meet him again at the tip of his wand tonight. You both allowed me to think that the man I gave myself to was dead, and I would have never known the difference unless I had met him today the way we did.”
She began to pace like Harry had done earlier, both men sat in silence watching her as she talked out her thoughts. “I thought that there was something wrong with a Death-Eater releasing a Mudblood,” She snarled at the word.
“I couldn\'t figure it out. Why the man I love, not only became a Death-Eater, but would release me. I was confused until I started putting the pieces together. The tips from V, which conveniently started to come right around the time he stopped writing to me and disappeared, the familiar owl, the same one he used to send his letters to me, his chicken scratch hand writing from the glimpse I caught from the note earlier, and the way he seemed shocked to see me in the field and then to turn away from an enemy when he had ample time to kill me but didn\'t.” She still paced. Slowly painting a very clear picture for the two men so that there would be no mistake as to how she came to the her conclusion.
Both men were shocked that she had figured it out, however not as shocked as they would have been it had been Ron to figure it out. The facts accumulated and she had figured it out. She was as ever the most intelligent person to come out of Hogwarts since Severus and Lily Evans.
Finally she spun on them, “Why didn\'t you tell me?” She demanded walking up to the desk in the study where they were sitting and slamming her hands down on the top of it.
Albus leaned back from her farther into his plush chair, “His mission and identity were Top Secret.”
“TOP SECRET my ass! Not even Snape, one of the best Legilimenists in the world can break into my mind.” She said with a glare at both men. “You could have saved me two years, TWO YEARS of agony. I didn\'t even know for sure if he was dead and if so it there was a body or funeral or even a grave I could visit. For all I knew he was lain in some ditch his corps rotting as the wild animals picked what was left of the meat off his bones.”
She pause a second letting it sink into their minds before narrowing her eyes at them. If looks could kill they would both be rotting in hell, “As far as I am concerned, right now, the two of you are just as heartless as Voldemort.” She hissed at them before removing the wards on the room and exiting it to go back to her room to stew and calm down before she harmed the two men that were held such high respect in her mind and heart.
Albus and Alastor were shocked, never had they heard Hermione speak with such venom in her voice. They had a feeling that if she had not left that they would be having a very big problem with the title “Pissed off Witch” on their hands. The fact that she compared them to Voldemort made both of them feel lower than low. Neither knew what to say to her to correct it. Besides they both felt that space was needed for her to calm down. Hopefully she wouldn\'t tell any one other than Harry and Ron about it. Viktors placement was still very important and his cover could not be blown yet. They needed to wait until the final battle before he could be uncovered.
Hermione was a smart witch they were both sure that she knew that. At least they hoped that even pissed off that she knew that.
Hermione slammed her door shut catching the attention on Harry who was in the room next to her. She yelled out admittance to him as he knocked on her door.
“Hermione?” He asked cautiously.
She grunted at him. He knew that when she was being nonverbal that she was so flustered that she didn\'t have the ability to say anything.
“Do I want to know what pissed you off?” He asked concerned.
“Dumbledore and Moody, those Sons Of Bitches.”
Harry was shocked at this. They had been friends for a very long time and he had very rarely heard her swear, even less to here her curse someone that she held such high respect for.
“Okay, what have they done?” he asked coming into her rooma nd sitting on the edge of her bed. Giving enough room to stand in run if she drew her wand.
“Viktor\'s been a double spy all this time and neither one thought it was a good idea to tell me about it.” She explained.
Harry looked even more shocked. “What?”
Hermione sighed, “I said...”
“I know what you said. How do you know?”
Hermione launched into explaining, “I didn\'t know for sure until The headmaster and Moody confirmed it.”
Harry exhaled loudly and sat down slumped on her bed. “What made you even suspect?”
“First it was him releasing me when he saw me along with the shocked face he made when he saw me. Next it was his owl and hand writing with the tips from V, it was Viktors hand writing. I was so stupid to not think of something like this before. I feel like a total moron.” She said pacing berating herself for being so blind.
Harry looked at her with a look of understanding. “Oh Hermione.” He said grabbing her shoulders. “There wasn\'t anything that you could do about it. His mission was meant to be top secret. The professors probably should have told you knowing how you felt about him instead of allowing you to go through hell but now that we know I don\'t want you running off to do something stupid. You have Ron and I to think about not to mention your parents.”
Hermione stopped pacing and looked at Harry with a face full of fear. “Oh God!” She said as if she were breathless.
“What?” He asked.
“My parents!” She screeched.
Harry winced but continued to look confused.
“I put my parents in Viktors parents summer cottage after I figured he was DEAD!”
Moody and Dumbledore both stopped talking as the enraged witch stormed into the study with out knocking. She slammed the door closed and cast a locking and silencing charm on the door before she moved forward.
