Chapter 3- Conversations and Letters
May 27, 2008
Hermione woke up early. She couldn't believe that Harry was sleeping in the next room. She had long dreamed that she would be with Harry. Sadly, she had to settle for Ron. Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard her mother call her.
Hermione left her room still in her pajamas. She climbed down the stairs quietly as not to wake up Harry. As soon as she got down to the parlor, Jane Granger dragged her down to the couch.
"Hermione. What is going on with Harry?" Jane asked her.
"Well his family has gone missing. He is well rid of them from what little he has told me. They treated him very poorly. He doesn't talk about his life out of Hogwarts much. If that wasn't enough, he has a mad man bent on ruling the world after him. It really doesn't matter if Harry can't beat him we are all doomed anyway." Hermione replied with a sad smile.
"You plan on following him into hell, don't you?" Jane asked with a frown.
"He is my first and best friend. I could do no less." Hermione explained.
"Well you best check on him. He should be up soon." Jane told her with a knowing smile.
Hermione got up, and walked up the stairs. She heard the shower running, and figured Harry was taking his shower. She slipped into his room to wait for him.
Just as she sat on the bed, an owl came into the room with a letter. She knew this owl very well. It was Erol, the Weasley family's owl. She couldn't see a name on the letter when she took it from Erol's leg. As Erol slipped away, she opened the letter to read it.
'Harry,
I need some advice, mate. The night of Dumbledore's Funeral I got drunk. I don't know how it happened, but I shagged Lavender. She wants me to dump Hermione. I am not sure what I should do, mate. Hermione has been an ice queen to me. I mean how can you not let the bloke you’re going out with feel you up. On top of that, she is nothing but bossy to me, and always picks a fight with me. Lavender has no problem with letting the quaffle in the hoop. She is sweet to me, and lets me do whatever I want. Do you know anyway I can keep them both? Not to mention any advice on getting Hermione to put out. Whatever you do, mate, don't tell Hermione. She would be crushed to lose someone as great as me.
Your Mate,
Ron'
Hermione couldn't believe her eyes. 'Ron cheated on her! She had to settle for Ron not the other way around! If she was to ever share anyone, it would be Harry. Harry is the only one that could love her, and others equally. Ron didn't know the first thing about love. Harry, even with being raised by the Dursley’s knew more about love then Ron. She wasn't opposed to sharing the bed with a woman, but she wasn't about to share it with Lavender. Lavender had slept with most of the guys in the school. Merlin, she gave Ginny a run for her money on the skank award.'
Harry came into the room dripping wet with only towel on. He forgot his state of dress when he saw Hermione's look. He ran up to her and grabbed her putting her head on his shoulder.
"Hermione? What is wrong? I have never seen you this mad." Harry asked without even moving.
Hermione didn't answer. She just pointed to the letter. She sat quietly as Harry picked it up and read it.
To say Harry was upset would have been like saying Hungarian Horntails are like puppies, and not even Hagrid would ever say that. Hermione looked around the room to see everything in the room floating in midair, and was shocked to see what looked like lightning jumping across Harry's body.
"Harry, calm down! Ron isn't worth it. As far as I am concerned, he can have Lavender. It is not like we were ever really in love. Truth be told I like someone else." Hermione said as she tried calming him down.
"Alright. Hermione, I can't stay friends with someone that can do that to you!" Harry said while adding under his breath. "I wouldn't ever do that to you."
"Harry. I will just have to break up with him. Can I borrow Hedwig?" Hermione asked without thinking.
"Not unless you want him to know you read the letter. I could always buy you your own owl." Harry said thoughtfully.
"Harry, I can't have you buying me an owl." Hermione snapped.
"Why not? I mean you already took me in, and I should get one for your parents too. It would make it a lot easier for you and them to talk. It would be my thank you gifts." Harry told her passionately.
"If you insist, Harry, but you don't have to." Hermione replied with a slight grin, because she knew Harry wouldn't accept no for an answer.
"Let's go down and see if your parents can take us to Diagon alley." Harry told her already thinking of other things he could get them.
"I will go ask them. You need to get dressed." Hermione said with a blush as she realized Harry was only a towel away from being starker’s.
Harry looked down and blushed. He had totally forgotten that he was only in a towel. He nodded. As soon as Hermione left the room and closed the door, he got dressed. Sadly, He only had the Dudley’s hand-me-downs.
Jane caught sight of him the moment he came down. She looked him up and down. She frowned at the clothes he was wearing. She just couldn't figure out why his clothes were so big on him. His broad shoulders may have fit in the shirt but that was it.
"We will definitely have to go shopping, Robert. Harry seems to be wearing some elephant skin." Jane said with a great frown.
They left as soon as Hermione had gotten ready. They drove over the country side once more. Hermione blushed the whole way. Jane and Robert were telling Harry all about the things that their little princess did when she was younger. Hermione sighed in relief as they finally reached the Leaky Cauldron.
