Secret Lovers

Song: Secret Lovers by Atlantic Starr

Circa 1986

Here we are, the two of us together,

Taking this crazy chance to be all alone,

We both know that we should not be together,

Cause if they find out it could mess up,

Both our happy homes

It was late, nearly two in the morning as Lucius crept through the halls of his family’s ancestral home. How he hated having to sneak about in his own home. Of course he never expected his life to take the turn it had, to find himself in love with a woman he absolutely could not have. He paused briefly outside the door, looking up and down the hall to make certain no one was near before he opened the door and stepped inside.

“Lucius!” She sighed his name as she rushed into his arms, her hands locking behind his neck as she tugged his head down for a kiss. “I thought you would never get here.” She moaned against his lips.

“I’m sorry, My Love, I couldn’t slip away before now.” He whispered, locking the door at his back before putting his arms around her and lifting her into his arms, carrying her across the room to the sofa. “Is he asleep?”

“Yes, he takes a sleeping potion nearly every night.” Hermione said softly, pulling at the belt on his robe, opening it and sliding her hands inside. “It’s been too long, Lucius, I have missed you so.”

“And I missed you.” He whispered, shrugging out of the satin dressing gown. “I hate it when you go away with him.”

“I don’t want to go, we fight the entire time.” She said, her fingers smoothing over the tight muscles of his chest. “The entire time we were gone I thought of you, wanted to be here with you.”

“I won’t say I’m sorry, the thought of you in his bed kills me.” He said.

“He hasn’t touched me in over two years.” She said. “There has been no one but you.”

“We shouldn’t be doing this, Hermione. It is wrong on so many levels.” He whispered. “You are married to my son.”

“And I am in love with you.” She whispered, cupping his face as she kissed his lips. For over a year they had been lovers. Neither knowing quite how it happened. She had been forced into a marriage with Draco thanks to a law conceived by the Ministry to combine pureblood families with the muggleborns in an attempt to breed out the negativity between the two races of wizards.

She and Draco had never come to terms with their forced marriage. They fought like cats and dogs. Early on they had found some compatibility in the bedroom, the terms of the marriage contract stating that it had to be consummated. But it hadn’t lasted long, their incompatibility outside the bedroom had carried over, effectively ruining the tenuous passion they shared.

Then late one night, while she had been reading in the library, Lucius had wandered in, unable to sleep and looking for a read. She had watched him as he perused the shelves, selecting his book before he even realized that he was not alone. He spoke to her briefly, then excused himself. Night after night they went through the same ritual until finally he came in to find her struggling with the rolling ladder as she tried to move it along the track in her quest for a book.

“Allow me to assist you.” he said softly, reaching around her for the ladder. She found herself leaning back against the rungs, trapped by his arms, struggling to draw breath. He smelled so good, spicy with a hint of citrus and his body heat penetrated the thin silk of her bedrobe. She wasn’t certain how it happened, but within moments her robe was gone, her gown bunched at her waist as the blond wizard thrust into her over and over again, pressing her back against the bookshelves as he did.

From that night they had been engaging in a torrid, secret affair carried on right beneath their spouse’s noses. They were in love, desperately in love, with each other. They longed for the moments they could be together and dreaded the times when they were apart. The only thing worse were the times they had to be together with their spouses present, both of them sure that their love was painted on their faces as clearly as graffiti on a wall.

I hate to think about us all meeting up together,

As soon as I look at you it will show on my face,

Then they\'ll know that we\'ve been loving each other,

We can\'t let\'em know, girl, no, no,

We can\'t leave a trace.

“I hate having to sneak around to see you.” He said, pulling her cotton night shirt over her head and revealing her bare breasts to his gaze. His hands came up to cup her, his thumbs raking over the tight tips. “I want to be with you in the open.”

“Oh god, I want that too, Lucius.” She whimpered. “I hate seeing you with her, sitting beside her at breakfast. I want to scream at the cold way she treats you.”

“It tears me apart to watch you with him, to see how he ignores you. I would spend all my life lavishing you with attention.” He said, lowering his lips to suckle her gently.

“Why does it have to be so difficult, Lucius, why cant we just run away somewhere no one knows us, where we can be together just you and I?” She clutched the back of his head as she spread kisses over her breasts.

“Because neither of us wants to be responsible for ruining their lives.”

“But being with them is ruining ours.” She said, tears leaking from the corners of her eyes.

Secret lovers that\'s what we are,

We should not be together,

But we can\'t let go cause we love each other so.

“Lets not talk about them anymore, My Love. Just let me touch you, let me love you.” he whispered, his hands curling around her hips as he rolled her onto the sofa beneath him. He reached between them, freed his arousal from his sleep bottoms and slid into her, slow and sure. He groaned at the familiar feel of her closing around him.

“Oh, Lucius, I missed you.” She cried softly as he began to move inside her. She caught his rhythm easily, after so long as his lover she knew what he wanted, what he needed as she began to arch and roll her hips beneath him.

She wanted to weep with frustration, she loved him so much, wanted him with everything in her. She never thought she could be the kind of woman who cheated on her husband, who slept with a married man, but there she was, lying beneath the man she loved, a man who belonged to another just as she did.

Sitting at home I do nothing all day

But I think about you and hope that you\'re okay,

Hoping you call before anyone gets home

I wait anxiously alone by the phone.

Oh how she wished she could love her husband the way she loved Lucius. It would make things so much easier if she could muster those feelings for Draco but no matter how hard she tried, she just didn’t have it in her to love him that way.

Her days were spent waiting for a message from Lucius, for him to owl her or to slip her a note in passing. For him to stumble across her in an empty room and take her into his arms, kissing her passionately, taking her fast and hard, stealing any chance to be alone.

She clutched at his back as he moved more forcefully between her thighs, thrusting harder into her, bringing them both quickly to the summit and pushing them over. He spilled into her with a ragged groan, her body convulsing around his cock rhythmically, drawing his orgasm out as he lay exhausted between her thighs.

How could something so wrong be so right,

I whish we didn\'t have to keep our love out of sight,

Living two lives just ain\'t easy at all,

But we gotta hang on in there or fall

Secret lovers that\'s what we are,

Trying so hard to hide the way we feel,

Cause we both belong to someone else,

But we can\'t let go cause what we feel is oh so real...

“How long can we go on like this, Lucius?” She asked, her fingers running through his silky hair.

“I don’t know, but I cant, I won’t let you go. I need you too much.” He said, his cheek resting against her heart.

“So we continue to live a double life? Married to them during the day and loving each other in the dark every night?” She asked. “I hate this.”

“I hate it too, but I love you too much to stop.”

You and me,

Are We fair,

Is this cruel,

Or do we care ?

Can they tell what\'s in our mind ?

Or maybe we\'ll be secret lovers all of the time ?

In the middle of making love we notice the time,

We both get nervous \'cause it\'s way after nine,

Even though we hate it we know it\'s time that we go,

We gotta be careful so that no one will know.

“It’s time for us to go back to our beds.” Lucius said, looking at the clock above the mantle.

“Back to them.” She said quietly. “So we can start the lie up again.”

“It’s a lie we have to keep living, Hermione, for the benefit of everyone.” He said, standing up to right his clothing.

“It is a lie none the less.” She said, tugging her nightshirt over her head and stepping into his arms. “The only truth is when we are together.”

“I love you.” he said, lowering his lips to hers as he kissed her goodnight.

“And I love you.” She whispered, choking on her tears as she watched him leave.

Lucius opened his bedroom door and crept quietly back to his bed, slipping between the sheets as gently as he could.

“We need to talk, Lucius.” Narcissa said softly into the night.

“About what?” he asked, sighing in resignation. That phrase never boded well for a man.

“About the fact that you are in love with our son’s wife.”

Down the hall Hermione sat alone in a chair by the window, her legs curled beneath her as she stared out at the sky slowly lightening as dawn approached. Her mind and her heart troubled as she thought of her love.

“I am surprised you even come back to bed.” Draco said. Hermione looked over to see him staring at her.

“I’m sorry if I woke you.” She said.

“You smell of him you know. Every night when you come back from being with him I can smell him on you.” He said. “You are in love with my father aren’t you?”

Secret lovers that\'s what we are,

Trying so hard to hide the way we feel,

Cause we both belong to someone else,

But we can\'t let go cause what we feel is oh so real...
