Chapter 3: The Tasks That Lie Ahead

Harry Potter: A Girl Worth Saving
Chapter 3: The Tasks That Lie Ahead

After being left unconscious by Voldemort, Harry was determined to get Ginny back. Only problem he wasn't going anywhere. Harry woke up again the hospital wing. This time, Ron and Hermione were both at his side. Unfortunately without having Ginny present, he felt lost and became frustrated.

'How you feeling, Harry.' Ron asked.

'Leave me alone.' Harry said quietly. He began to sniffle.

'Let's go, Ron. By the way, Harry, Voldemort left you this.'

'What is it?'

'A scroll of some kind.'

'Let me see.' Harry grabbed his glasses and slowly turned over in the hospital bed. 'It looks like some kind of note.'

Harry opened the scroll. He began reading it aloud:

"Dear Harry,
I have taken Ms. Weasley so I could challenge you.
If you want to rescue your precious girlfriend back, I'd
advice you to keep your snotty nosed friends out of these
tasks, especially that little bookworm, Ms. Granger.

If you do so, then the following three tasks must be done:
- 1. Instead of facing the Hungarian Horntail,
you must face all 10 known species of dragons, and get four golden eggs.
- 2. Bring the four potions inside the eggs
to the third task.
- 3. The maze. Find the Goblet of Fire and use it
to go to The Chamber of Secrets.

Good Luck, Harry. If you survive I'll live up to my word."

Voldemort.

'Bloody hell, you're really in for it.' Ron said delightfully. Harry gives him a hard look. 'No offense, Harry.'

'Thank you, Ron! You made my life so much easier.' Harry said sarcastically.

'Honestly, Ron, he called me a bookworm.' Hermione cried.

'Voldemort's got point, you know.' Harry truthfully said.

'Okay, okay. Now we need to get you prepared for these tasks. I would advice you to talk to McGonagall about them.' Hermione said with encouragement. Harry got off the bed and began to leave when he fell to his knees. Hermione gasped.

'Oh. You all right?'

'Well, I guess I could use a little help.' Harry said jokingly. Together the trio left for McGonagall's office.

Inside her office, McGonagall was putting away graded paperwork. She noticed Harry squirming in pain.

'Potter, what are you here? Shouldn't you be the hospital wing?' McGonagall asked worriedly. Harry couldn't find the words to say anything. He gave her the scroll. As she began to read, she gasped when she saw that Harry was involved in a Single-Wizard Tournament.

'A Single-Wizard Tournament! This can't be. We ruled out these kinds of tournaments because of all the deaths.'

Harry gulped. 'If Dumbledore were here, he would know what to do.'

Suddenly, her office doors slammed shut. A bright light shines through the door crack. A familiar man and voice appears out of it. It was Dumbledore. Everyone gasped.

'Albus! Why are you here?'

'I'm here help our young Mr. Potter rescue Ms. Weasley, Minerva.' Dumbledore said.

'Thank you, sir.' Harry was almost in tears. Suddenly he didn't feel so bad.

'Now let's down to business, Harry. The dragons, I trust you remember the Hungarian Horntail from the Tri-Wizard Tournament. Yes?'

'Yes. But, Professor I can't face all ten known species of dragons at once. Defeating the Hungarian Horntail was hard enough!'

'The horntail is the most intelligent of the ten dragons, Harry. But do not underestimate Lord Voldemort he tends to ... shall we say cheat.'

'Right.'

'Although these last two tasks seem too easy for you, Harry.'

'What do you mean?'

'Really these last two tasks don't have much thought in them. I mean that you already participated in the maze and all the eggs hatched under warm water.'

'So...?' Ron said.

'So, Mr. Weasley, it seems that the four potions inside the eggs are meant to be together in The Chamber of Secrets. But to do what is the question.'

'What about the dragons, Albus?' McGonagall asked nervously.

'That is something, Harry will have to figure out on his own.' Then Dumbledore noticed some more writing under the last unopen part of the scroll.

'Hmm.'

'What is it, sir?' Harry asked.

'This last note, it reads: P.S. The whole school will be watching you perform the last task.'

'Great, just great.' Harry mumbled while putting his hand over his face.

'Now that I helped you straighten things out. I must go.' Dumbledore said.

'No. You can't professor! Harry will need your help with the dragons!' Hermione yelled furiously.

'Don't worry, Ms. Granger, I will be watching over him. Until then, off I go.'

As Dumbledore left, he winked at McGonagall and pointed his finger toward a hat. Harry looked at McGonagall then at Ron and Hermione, Harry left, bruised and all, to rescue Ginny.

A few days had past.

Down in the Chamber, Voldemort had Ginny hung up by her arms over the Salazar Slytherin Statue. Ginny woke up and began yelling at Voldemort.

'Hey!' Ginny whistled but was ignored. 'Hey, you coward! Why the hell did you bring me back here? Why kidnap me?'

Voldemort swiftly moved across the room, his wand pointed directly at Ginny's throat. 'Don't call me a coward! I fucking hate that! However if you wish to survive you better be a good girl instead of a snobby little bitch!' Voldemort slaps Ginny in the face.

'Besides it won't be long until your boyfriend dies.'

'That's a lie!' Ginny yelled.

'Believe what you want, Ms. Weasley. Harry will eventually show. Why? Why is it that the second and third tasks seem so easy? I'll tell you. It is because I want to face Harry in his prime. Wizard-to-Wizard, warrior-to-warrior, when he arrives I will kill him, just like his parents. But on that night, I couldn't kill Harry. It was his mother, Ginny. It was her that forced into hiding all these years. Now I'm back, and there's no one that can stop me! Soon, this world will be talking about by me for years come!'

Voldemort walks away from Ginny and starts laughing evilly.

Hearing Voldemort laugh, Ginny speaks to herself quietly, 'Harry.'

To be continued...
