The attempt to overthrow the duly elected government of magical Britain (the event that came to be known as the “Community Diversity Ambush”) created an anchor point for those who’d lived through it (and some who didn’t). More than a few considered it the true end of the Second Wizarding War. Many so-called survivors of that war were now officially considered war dead.
On election day, the Wizengamot abdicated its charges against Lucius Abraxas Malfoy and overturned its conviction of the legal minor Draco Lucius Malfoy (too late to save his life). In his chambers, Galen Gallentine, who’d known Lucius since childhood and stood in as one of Draco’s twelve godfathers, drank to stem the flow of mea culpa tears.
Two days after the “Community Diversity Ambush”, Kingsley Shacklebolt bowed to the will of the people, stepping down as the Minister of Magic.
Three days after the “Community Diversity Ambush”, the aurors confirmed the names of the dead, including Molly Prewitt Weasley. Her final spell, Avada Kedavra, had been aimed at her own head — a feat unheard of in the wizarding world. In deference to her long tenure as a fighter for the Light, Harry had her record expunged after gaining a medical certificate from a sympathetic Healer (his former classmate and one-time love interest, Cho Chang) that declared Molly criminally insane as of Fred’s death — and possibly before…
