Fools

28. Fools

The house was beautiful, albeit being small it had everything you could want. A spacious kitchen with a huge table in the middle, a living room filled with bookcases and leather couches, a bright bathroom and two bedrooms.

And that bothered Harry but it also confirmed his idea that Snape no longer considered a sexual relationship with him but just kept him company.

“How do you like it?” Snape asked from the stove where he prepared chicken and corn.

Harry sat at the kitchen table, glad he could rest a bit because the few steps out of the hospital and into the house had tired him.

“It is beautiful.”

With a flick of Harry's wand the table began to set itself- thank god the only thing that worked perfectly was his magic.

“I was lucky to get my hands on it. I bought it from the Weasley twins last year.”

Surprised Harry looked up.

“Really? Why did they sell it?”

Snape began to divide the food and put it on the plates.

“Oh, they are both married now and so the house was not big enough.”

Feeling the familiar twitch of envy Harry began to eat the mushed potatoes. Due to nourishing potions he was a normal weight when he woke up but since then he had lost weight again,

For a while it was silent as both wizards ate their meal. It was Snape who broke it once he had finished his plate.

“I received a letter from Shaklebolt. He is delighted you were released from the hospital and he wants to present your special order of merlin first degree at the next ministry ball, which if I am not mistaken is next month.”

Harry was picking on the little peas one at a time and did not look up.

“No.”

Snape sighed. “You have to resume to live your life Harry.” When Harry kept his gaze on his plate, he placed his hand on the one that held Harry's fork. “I know you hate the fact that all your friends happily continued their lives while you did not. But the only way to join them is to go out and enjoy what is waiting there.”

“And what exactly is waiting there?” Harry asked cynically.

“Oh lots of things. For example I know the twins are dying to show you their new megastore they opened last year. After all it belongs to you as well, due to your silent investment.”

Reluctantly Harry nodded but pushed his plate away.

“I am done.”

Silently Snape flicked his wand and the kitchen began to clean itself.

“Would you do me favour?”

Harry quickly looked up and nodded. “Of course.”

“Well there seems to be a huge demand for hangover potions in Draco Malfoy's shop and he ordered several from me. If you are up to it, you could help me.”

“You ask Me if I help you brew a potion? You said hundreds of times that I had no intrinsic talent for potions.”

Snape waved Harry's remark aside.

“I may have exxaerated a little bit back then.” When Harry kept staring at him he smiled thinly. “And I am not asking you brew the potion for me but you could assist me. Cutting herbs and cleaning up.”

Now Harry smiled the first sincere smile since he had woken up.

“So you are looking for a free fool who tidies up after you and you can order around.”

Snape wanted to protest but Harry interupted him.

“I'd love to.”

It turned out to be a surprisiingly fun afternoon with Snape explaining a lot of details to Harry and actually trying to teach him something for a change.

Harry mostly sat on a floating chair while he prepared the ingredients and once they came up from the lab he felt useful for the first time. Not always needing things but being able to offer something felt great.

Both sat down on the couch and Snape poured both of them some brandy offering one to Harry.

“Did you not say some of my potions reacted badly with alcohol in any form?”

Snape shrugged and pushed the tumbler into Harry's hands.

“You are off of most of the potions who would have caused serious side effects and the worst that can happen is that the alcohol goes to your head.”

Taking a sip from the drink Harry relaxed into the couch, happy to be out of the hospital and with Snape. During his time in the hospital he had had a lot of time for reflection and he had come to some findings.

One was that he enjoyed spending time with the potion master. He made him smile a lot and was the only one who forced him to make progress. The second was that even before the last battle he had unseenly fallen in love with Snape and every time he thought of him in that way, it hurt to have him sitting close by but being unable to touch him the way he wanted to touch him.

And wanted to be touched. During the last weeks he had gradually felt better, being more in control of his body and due to that his cock sometimes twitched when he daydreamed of Snape and their only time together.

“A penny for your thoughts,” Snape said evenly sipping from his drink.

Harry blushed a little. “Oh just thinking about nothing in particular.” Before Snape had time to continue he beat him to it. “What kind of shop does Draco Malfoy have?”

Snape chuckled. “Well, in Hogwarts a couple of things have always circulated even if they were against school rules. Thinks like alcohol. And Draco thought a shop were you could buy these things in Hogsmeade would bridge a markt niche. He was right though.”

“And Dumbledore allows it?

“Albus has a habit of turning a blind eye to many things he cannot endorse publicly but he knows students will do or have eventually. And there is not much that he can do, Hogsmeade is a small village and the shop does also sell school supplies.”

Harry grinned. “Once a Malfoy, always a Malfoy.”

“Exactly.” Snape finished his drink and pointed to a door on the left. “You appear tired, why do we not retire to bed so that you can rest a little. Your bedroom is over there.”

Looking at the door with trepidation Harry forced himself to easily agree, knowing that it was inevitable.

“Do you manage on your own?” Snape asked and when Harry nodded he helped him from the couch.

At the door to Harry's bedroom he pressed a chaste kiss to the young wizard's forehead.

“Sleep tight.”

Harry forced a smile on his face and entered the room. It was decorated in dark wood furniture that Snape favoured, with touches of red here and there. His belongings were in a trunk among them his invisibility cloak and the fotoalbum with his parent's photos.

Sitting down on the bed he began to undo his shoes when he saw a magical photo on the nighttable that showed him, Hermione and Ron outside building a snow man and being silly. Not dwelling on the fact that these days he could probably not make a snow angel he wondered who had put it here.

A grey pijama was on the end of the bed and he slowly put it on and placed his glasses on the nighttable. There was a glass of water and some crackers that Snape must have placed there. This way if he was hungry or thirsty he did not have to get up and walk into the kitchen.

Laying down on the very comfortable bed he stared at the canopy until his lids got heavy and he fell asleep.
