Chapter Twenty Six: Newts And Graduation.


It was the last week of June and everyone had just finished their last Newt in Astronomy. James said around a yawn as he took off his glasses and wiped them clean "I'm going to bed, it's one a clock in the morning, and my brain hurts after three and a half months of none stop studying."

Sirius whined "Yeah that's the problem with Astronomy, you don't bloody finish an exam or lesson until one in the morning." Remus chuckled "Ah Padfoot what may I ask do you expect with a subject that is based around the solar system and stars and the planets in said solar system? Very few planets can be seen in broad day light or the early hours of the morning."

Peter added relieved "Well, at least things are guaranteed to slacken off around here now that the Newts are out of the way and we are just over a month away from graduating." Lily grinned "Yeah then we start auror training after the summer holidays in September."

Remus shook his head in disbelief "I still can't believe I got accepted into auror school. I figure they frowned upon part human part magical creatures such as myself being accepted into auror school."

Harry commented "Yeah they normally do, but I saw how much your older self regretted that you were never given the chance to be an auror. So I talked to Dumbledore and both he and Petunia after Peter had talked to her, put a word in for you with two of the head aurors, and they know your a werewolf.”

He added “Dumbledore explained as long as you had all of us around you then you would be no trouble. Plus I had Dumbledore explain to them that I'd been accepted and I was your mate and needed to have more contact with you that I necessarily wouldn't be able to achieve without you near by."

Remus smiled at Harry "You could never imagine what that means to me Harry. Thank you." He placed a gentle kiss on Harry's lips. Remus turned to Peter and grinned "I remember you saying to me in the hospital wing right after we had come out of the pensive and seen what our future selves become. I remember you telling me that you would see to it that I was never alone. I guess you came through on that promise. Thanks Peter I really do appreciate it."

Peter grinned and replied "Well, after seeing what my future self became, that messed me up like you would not believe. I decided there and then after seeing that, that I would make sure my future self was a honest man.”

He added “And of course I promised you would never be alone and I was determined to come through for a change. So I had a little chat with my girl friend that happens to be less then two weeks away from finishing her first year of training as a auror. I asked her to put a word in with her superior who happens to be Alistair Mad Eye Moody."

Peter had been right things did slacken off over the next three weeks. Even Hermione was able to relax now that the exams were over and done with. She even took the time to learn how to play chess, courtesy of Ron and Peter who were both handy when it came to quidditch and other game plans.

Speaking of quidditch the Gryffindor team wiped the floor with the Slytherin's in the final match for the quidditch cup. They won 820 to Slytherin's 580. Lucius Malfoy had been fuming when James had gotten to the snitch before he did, and without even having to cheat. That scenario was more then a little familiar, especially when it came to the Potter's and the Malfoy's. Namely Harry and Draco.

It was finally the leaving feast and the final decision as to who would take the end of the year house cup. Dumbledore read out the results during his speech. "It is now an end to another school year. Most of you will be returning next year for another round of learning that is the Hogwarts experience. And those of you in years seven that are moving on to greater and new things and higher expectations, you will all be greatly missed.”

He added “As you all know at the end of every school year, students in years seven are granted permission to party until normally the early hours of the morning, after they graduate. Each year one of the four houses host a leaving party for all seventh years’ students of the four houses, who have just graduated. It is the one time of the year where all ex students and new graduates from all four houses are united without the competitiveness and the rivalry."

Dumbledore cleared his throat and continued "Now for the results for the end of year house cup. The house in fourth place with a total of 360 points is Hufflepuff" there was around of polite applause. Dumbledore announced the house in third place "The house in third place with a total of 470 points is Ravenclaw." Everyone was waiting impatiently to know who the winner was, it was a toss up between Gryffindor and Slytherin. Dumbledore's eyes twinkled knowing everyone was desperate to know who had won the house cup.

Dumbledore finally announced who came in second place he said "And finally in second place with a total of 620 points is Slytherin." The Gryffindor table was suddenly in a up roar of cheers and yells of triumph,

Dumbledore had to shout be heard "And in first place with a total of 750 points is Gryffindor. Gryffindor wins the end of the year house cup." Scarlet and gold banners with a lion on suddenly adorned the hall replacing the tapestries with the Hogwarts crest upon it.

Dumbledore informed them as soon as the hall had calmed down enough to be heard. "I will remind those of you in year seven, your graduating ceremony will take place tomorrow after noon at three thirty."

And so at three a clock that afternoon the nine friends was sitting in the boys dorms for the last time. They were dressed in scarlet and gold robes that had the Gryffindor logo on the left hand side of the robes and the Hogwarts crest upon the right.

Each held their scarlet caps with golden tassels on them. James and Lily had golden and scarlet sashes over their robes, as they were the head boy and girl.

James moaned "Geez these robes are far to bright for my likening." He was soon cackling with delight when something had suddenly occurred to him. "Oh shit you guys, you remember Dumbledore said you four had to finish your seventh year and graduate in your own time line as well. So naturally you four are going to be subjected to wearing these hideous things a second time at your graduation in 1998."

Ron whined "Did I mention I really hate Albus Dumbledore at the moment?" Lily commented
"Harry both you and Hermione will be wearing these golden sashes on your robes when you graduate back in 1998, because you will be head boy and girl."

Peter was tossing a small pink velvet box up and down as Sirius teased Ron. Lily asked "Holy shit Peter is that what I think it is?" Peter grinned and tossed the box to Lily, Lily opened the box and smiled brightly and she showed the contents to the others.

It was a ruby cluster with a diamond set on either side of the ruby, set on top of a band made of platinum. James grinned "Ah it looks like you and me are about to become brother in laws." Peter smiled "I'm hopping to marry Petunia in March next year if she agrees."

Harry sighed " I was supposed to be getting married when I was eighteen. Now I'm getting married when I'm twenty one." Ron added "Yeah me to, so are we still up for a double wedding when we get back to are own time?"

Harry suddenly sat up quickly and turned to Ron "Hey Ron mate how does a Christmas wedding sound? as it will be Christmas when we return." Ron sighed "Yeah I guess so, my son and daughter will already born nearly three years out of wed lock."

James said "Me and Lily have already chosen our wedding bands." Harry grinned "Let me guess your wedding bands are pure platinum, and yours James as the out line of a stag engraved on the front."

James asked "How exactly did you know that? you just described mine and Lily's wedding rings perfectly." Harry smiled sadly "I'm in current possession of them back in my own time line. They along with my mother’s engagement ring are in my trunk in a black cheery wood box given to me for my sixteenth birthday by Dumbledore. I even have your wands beside the rings." James, Lily and the others were stunned.

Thirty minutes later they all made their way down to the great hall to their graduating ceremony. The students were separated into four sections. The house tables had been removed and in there place was enough seats for students from each house.

The friends and family were seated behind the students of the houses they belonged to. The ceremony when on for an hour with Dumbledore the headmaster giving a speech, Minerva the deputy headmistress also giving a speech and James and Lily the head boy and girl also giving speeches.

Once that was over and done with they each received a diploma from Dumbledore stating they were fully qualified witches and wizards.

Landon, Nyah, Laney, Daniel and Petunia had come to see them all graduate. Nyah and Laney were both heavily pregnant. They had both conceived the same night and were due the first of September. So the Laney and Daniel's twins and Nyah and Landon's triplets would be heading to school for the first time on their birthdays.

After the ceremony Peter took Petunia to one side while the others chatted with Nyah, Landon, Laney and Daniel. peter sighed and took a deep breath before he started talking.

"Petunia I know that we've not been together like the couples Harry and Remus, Sirius and Ron, who have all been together over three years as the older and teen Remus and Sirius. Or Lily and James who have been dating since fifth year. Even Hermione and Ginny who been dating since their fifth year as well.”

He continued nervously “But I've loved you since I met you at Potter manor in my sixth year" he got down on one knee and asked "So I was hopping you would consent to becoming my wife, Petunia Evans will you marry me?" Peter opened the box and revealed the ring he had shown the others up in the boy’s dorms.

Petunia was stunned, she knew she had liked Peter since she first met him and fell in love with him over Christmas after the lust potion stunt there at Hogwarts. She smiled brightly and replied "Yes Peter I will marry you." Peter grinned brightly and stood up before placed a loving kiss on Petunia's lips. He then took the ring out of the box and placed it on her left index finger.

Petunia looked down at the ring and admired the ruby cluster and diamonds, she had always wanted a ruby cluster with diamonds. She was amazed Peter had chosen one without having to be told what she liked. That only solidified the fact for Petunia that Peter was the right choice for her.

They kissed one more time before they made their way back over to the others beaming as they went along. James, Lily and the others knew exactly what had happened, and by the looks of their beaming faces, they were looking at the soon to be Mr. and Mrs. Pettigrew. Laney and Daniel looked at their daughters, one was grinning knowingly and the other was beaming with happiness.

Petunia told her parents "Mum, Dad there's something me and Peter want to tell you all." Laney looked at her daughter questioningly and asked "And what may I ask is it you want to tell us about?"

Petunia turned to Peter and he nodded "I just asked Petunia to become my wife. And thankfully for me she accepted." Laney, Daniel, Landon and Nyah were stunned. They knew Peter and Petunia had been dating since new year but they had known idea it was that serious.

Laney and Daniel liked Peter he was a sweet young man. Laney beamed and hugged her oldest daughter while Daniel shook hands with Peter. Then Landon and Nyah both congratulated them.

Landon grinned "Well Daniel it looks like your not only going to be a father of twins, but both of your first children are getting married as well." Daniel returned the grin and added "Yeah and your going be a father of triplets and your currently only son is marrying my currently youngest daughter." Laney and Nyah and the girls admired Petunia's ring while Peter talked with Landon, Daniel and the rest of the guys.

That night had been crazy. It had been Gryffindor's turn to host the party as Slytherin had done it the previous year. Everyone from the other house were drunk or making out all over the common room. James and the others had stayed in the boys dorms, not wanting to party with Malfoy and Snape or the other Slytherin's. They had got their own supply of alcohol the previous day and had hid it in the boy’s dorms in James trunk under his invisibility cloak. They had enough alcohol to get them all seriously pissed.

Sirius and James had charmed two plates so it would keep filling up with bacon sandwiches until someone tapped each plate with their wand. Lily and James were lying on his bed, while Harry and Remus were lying on Harry's bed. Ron and Sirius were on Ron's bed and Hermione and Ginny were on Sirius's bed. Petunia and Peter were snuggled on his bed. Dumbledore had allowed Petunia to attend the after graduation party seeing as she and Peter had just gotten engaged.

They had all fallen to sleep on the beds they were in during the party. The next morning Minerva came into the boys dorms and had shook her head at the sight that met her. Each bed was occupied and there occupants in a drunken induced sleep.

She suddenly grinned evilly and with a quick wave of her wand she undone the curtains widely letting in the bright morning sun. "Ok everyone up right this instant, you've got to make sure you've not left anything behind. Then I recommend a shower for all of you and a hangover potion, then a decent breakfast inside of all of you. You need to be ready to leave Hogwarts and be at the train station for a eleven a clock."

They all moaned groggily in pain and held their heads before burying them under the blankets. They were all serious hung over, they wanted to die. Minerva shook her head in amusement and told them as she headed out of the room to get everyone else up who wasn't yet "As soon as you get out of the shower and are dressed go down to the hospital wing and Madam Pomfrey will give each of you a goblet full of hangover potion."

Harry whined "Guys as soon as we get back to our own time line we are not doing this at our own graduation party. I'm thinking of not attending that party back in 1998." Ron added "Naturally, if all I'm going to do is wake up feeling like I've died twice and done to hell, and gained a sewer in my mouth along the way."

They all got up very slowly, the boys headed for the boys showers and the girls headed to the showers with the other girls. After they were showered and dressed they headed down to the hospital wing and were given a goblet full of hangover cure. Neither of them had problems eating after that.

They were going to be living at Potter manor. And would start their auror training on the sixth of September. Lily and James had set a date for their wedding three months ago. They were going to be getting married on the first of August. They had a wedding to finish preparing for, they were going to be busy sorting that out. Then on the first of September both Nyah and Laney were due to go into to labour. Things were going to be hectic in July and September.
